Changed university after booking German student visa appointment — anyone actually done this?

Hi everyone,

I’m applying for a German student visa from India and would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually been in a similar situation.

I started my visa/CSP process using an admission from University A, and my VFS appointment is in about 10 days. I have now received a better/preferred admission from University B and plan to study there instead.

Has anyone received a new admit before their VFS appointment and simply taken the new admission letter + updated supporting documents to the existing appointment and asked VFS to update the university?

Or did you continue the visa process with University A, receive the visa, enrol at University B and handle the university change after reaching Germany?

I also have a question about travel dates. If the visa is issued based on University A but I ultimately enrol at University B, can I travel to Germany after University A’s enrolment deadline, provided I’m already enrolled at University B? Or could this create an issue at immigration?

I’ve contacted VFS as well, but I’m mainly looking for first-hand experiences from people who have actually done this recently, especially through VFS India.

Thanks!

BTU Cottbus (UDSR or other Master's) admits looking for accommodation?

Just wondering if there are any students who have accepted an offer to BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, especially for the Urban Design and Sustainable Revitalisation (UDSR) master's program, or any other master's program for winter 26/27.

I'm curious about the current accommodation situation, whether people are applying for student residences, looking for WGs, or exploring private rentals.

Also, if there are any female BTU admits currently searching for accommodation, I'd be interested in hearing what options you're considering.

Thanks, and good luck to everyone with the move to Cottbus!

Bauhaus University Weimar IUDD Interview (Winter 2026/27) – How was your experience?

I recently attended the Bauhaus University Weimar IUDD interview for the Winter 2026/27 intake.

I'm curious to hear how others found the interview process. It would also be helpful to compare experiences while we wait for the admission results.

Thanks.

TU Darmstadt SUD vs BTU Cottbus UDSR vs HCU Hamburg Urban Design

For anyone who has studied, been admitted to, or seriously considered these programmes:

How would you compare them in terms of:

- Studio/project work vs theory

- Urban design focus

- Planning and policy content

- Overall learning experience

I'm particularly interested in understanding how design-oriented each programme is beyond what is stated on the university websites.

How long do IUDD (Bauhaus Weimar) and UDSR (BTU Cottbus) usually take to send interview invitations or admission decisions?

I applied for Winter Semester 2026/27 and was wondering what the typical timeline is for these programmes.

For applicants from previous years, when did you receive interview invitations, admission offers, or rejection decisions from:

IUDD – Bauhaus University Weimar

UDSR – BTU Cottbus

Any information about the admission timeline would be helpful.
