I've been in Sweden a few years now and every July I'm still a bit confused by how the whole industry-semester thing plays out. My workplace basically shuts down weeks 28-31 and everyone's expected to take their semester then, but I've heard it varies a lot.

For those of you working here - does your employer pick your weeks or do you get to choose? What happens if you're new and haven't earned enough semesterdagar yet? And is it true some companies basically force obetald semester on people who haven't accrued days?

Curious how it works across different industries. Feels like one of those things nobody explains when you move here, you just figure it out.
