Word file intergration with Indesign

Hi, I am not familiar with indesign and wish to clarify some limitations I heard (third hand infor).

We have an application that can update financial data that were inserted into word document seemlessly. We have plans to integrate this document into indesign so that indesign can do formatting magic on visuals such as font color, font type, pictures, header footer etc.

so the plan was to just keep text, figures and table of figures in word and send word file as link to indesign to do visual magic.

but another party (not indesign) told us indesign is not able to change font type and font color. Any formatting changes need to be updated in word again. In addition, where table is involved, indesign is not able to align the table properly, the table will get "split" within. Table placement needs to be done in word.

In short, they want us to do most formatting the word document and only use indesign for minimal work.

Is it true? What exactly are the formatting limitation in indesign?

Two laptops, 1 big screen, 1 keyboard, 1 mouse, 1 usb hub and 1 power usb hub

I am working as a consultant with a client that provides me with their computer that connect to their on-prem system.

I have my own computer that linked to my company sharepoint, teams, outlook etc. my client contacts me via my own computer due to the domain address, thus the need to constantly check on my own computer frequently.

when I work at home, I have a keyboard and big screen that link to a usb hub and i power my computer using a power usb port (not a docking station but just to charge all my table stuff, like ereader, led table lamp etc). My mouse is a usb to my own computer.

is there a way to hook up both laptops so that I just use the same screen, keyboard and mouse? I prefer to use a mouse and usually avoid using the touch pad. the mouse does not blue-tooth enabled. I have smaller palm size so most of the mouses out in the market are too big or wide for my right hand.

My keyboard has blue tooth so I don't really need a usb hub to link to my computer - just a habit of mine to link via cable for constant charging.

Hi, I need a new pair of progressive lenses but I am only in Singapore for a short period of time (7 days). Is it possible to get one pair made in such a short time?

Please recommend a store that is reliable and does not charge crazy prices.
