Twilight's Fall Edicts - Artifice Overpowered?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at the Edicts for Twilight's fall the Artifice one says,

  • Artifice: Draw 1 relic and 1 paradigm; for each point behind the player with the most victory points you are, you may draw an additional card from either deck. Choose one of each type to keep and shuffle the rest back into their respective decks.

For comparision, another Edict card is Arise, which says:

  • Arise: Either place 1 infantry on each planet you control, or place 1 fighter in each system that contains your ships.

So Arise is a Rise of the Messaiah, which is an action card, but Artifice gives you a Relic and a Hero card and the possibility of offsetting the random draws.

Artifice seems way better then any of the other Edict options. I think I could have gotten behind it if it was one or the other, but keeping both!?! I can't see anyone taking anything else when presented with this.

Is there something I'm missing? Thanks!

Twilight's Fall - 10 or 12 points?

Hi everyone,

Me and my group normally play to 12 points in our standard games (all expansions). We are going to be playing Twilight's Fall in a couple of weeks and I'm not sure if we should stay with the 12 or go back to 10. 10 points games always felt like they ended without big plays for us, but I notice that there is no support for the throne in TF.

I know that there are other objective variants out there, but I think that for TF we want to keep it (relatively) simple and play the normal way or just to two extra points.

Anyone have any experience with TF? Did you find 10/12 VPs was too short or long?

Thanks!

Best SOFT SERVE Ice Cream in RVA?

Hey everyone,

Where would you say you can get the best soft serve ice cream in RVA?

There are alot of great places to in-house made ice cream, but I haven't come across any that have soft serve.

In fact, if anyone can recommend anywhere that has real soft serve, I'd like to hear it!

Discussion Regarding The Conversation - SPOILER

Hi everyone,

So we know if you go to the Quantum Moon, every time that the moon is orbiting a planet that isn't the Eye, you can find Solanum's dead body. This is because in these versions of the Quantum moon she was in the solar system when the Ghost Matter permeated the solar system and it killed her along with the other Nomai. The version where she is on the quantum moon near the Eye, she is far enough away that the ghost matter doesn't get to her.

But... didn't those events happen a long long long time ago? Even if the ghost matter doesn't kill her, wouldn't time and/or starvation effect her?

I haven't see anything about quantum-ness that makes time pass at a different rate .

Is there something I missed?

Questions about General Firmament/Obsidian Rules & Strategy

Hi everyone, some quick questions about the Firmament/Obsidian (F/O).

https://twilight-imperium.fandom.com/wiki/The_Firmament_/_The_Obsidian

It looks to me like you can only have one control marker on each plot card, with the exception of the Firmament Hero which will let you have two different player's markers on a single plot. Am I correct about this?

With regards to the Firmament's Promissory note, short of my opponent's willingness to take the deal, there isn't any reason why I couldn't trade this out multiple times and just fill up my plot cards? Especially during a single agenda phase? Edit: I missed the last part where this purges itself. Oops! Thanks everybody!

When building your slice, would you say F/O wants more resources, influence, a mix or something else? Like, what would be in their ideal, best slice?

Would you say F/O is best in a high player count game, a low player count game or that it doesn't matter?

I got the feeling that they were looked at as a not very good faction by the community. Could anyone elaborate on specifically why that is?

If I were to play them, what are the biggest tips that you could give for success?

Thanks!

The Homeland Expansion - How To Videos

Hi everyone,

Could anyone suggest a good instructional video on how to play the new Homeland Expansion factions? The best videos would be ones dedicated to teaching, not watching a full game.

I'm trying to get my group to play soon and I find its easiest when I can send them a video before hand.
