Why are some people in Tamil Nadu acting like every project going to Andhra Pradesh is “stolen”?
First it was that shoe company issue, now again with AMCA and Royal Enfield expansion talks. I genuinely don’t understand this reaction.
Tamil Nadu already has:
- Huge industrial ecosystem
- Big automobile manufacturing base
- Decades of stable governments
- Strong support during UPA era with major central portfolios
And good for them honestly, they built it well.
But AP is literally a newly divided state that lost Hyderabad, which was the biggest cash cow. Many promises after bifurcation were never fully fulfilled by the Centre. For years AP struggled without proper compensation/support.
Now finally because of 2024 politics, BJP needs support from AP parties like TDP/JSP and YCP(Indirectly). So obviously AP govt is trying hard to bring projects and investments before the political situation changes again after 2029.
How is that a problem?
If TN loses a project, DMK and TVK should question each other internally instead of dragging AP and calling it “stealing”. States compete for projects all the time. TN itself benefited massively in earlier years when they had strong influence at the Centre.
Why should only already-developed states keep growing while AP should just sit quietly?
Some people talk like they want TN to become China but don’t want neighboring states to industrialize at all.
A strong AP is good for South India too. More industries in AP doesn’t suddenly make TN poor.
