Watching some of these hitters make contact on some wicked pitches, I feel like the general population doesn’t appreciate how hard it actually is.
It’s always an interesting battle between what the pitcher plans on doing and whether the hitters can make contact. I’m in awe at some of the pitches they are able to get hits off of!
There are hundreds of players and it would make sense to have one place for these announcements instead of individual posts (that often have little engagement) taking up a lot of real estate on the main page.
The volume of portal posts may be contributing to duplicate posts on other newsworthy items (e.g. UGW coach sexual misconduct, which was posted yesterday and the same info posted again today).

I've created some bingo cards based on things we'll probably hear the announcers say. There are four versions -- hopefully some of you are having watch parties.
The phrases are a combination of basic softball terms, quirky sayings, and a few tributes to our favorite announcers.

Before the Supers get underway, how about sharing some of your favorite softball sayings, wacky advice, coaching wisdom, etc.
My father used to tell pitchers to "put some mustard on the ball." And, I just read a post where a coach tells her players, "Softballs are like lovers. The ones you have to chase aren't any good." It made me laugh out loud!

There have been some interesting plays and topics for discussion during the Regionals.
Here’s the link to the official rule book, along with the Case Book which gives potential scenarios for rules application.
I used to officiate a different sport and both books were instrumental in training officials, because while you think a rule is cut-and-dried, it’s valuable to have context for different situations.
One other thought on the officiating for the Regionals: with 64 teams playing in 16 different locations, you need all the officials you can find. You’re not going to have the best assigned to every game. Mistakes will be made. I’m not making excuses, just pointing out the reality of the situation. Of course, it doesn’t mean teams aren’t allowed to complain about bad calls, lol. I’m just saying they need to expect it going in.
Random curiosity question for our resident statisticians. I got thinking about it when Stetson and USF were making news…and counted at least five Florida teams off the top of my head.
