Help with binoculars!

Hello! I want to get my boyfriend a pair of binoculars for his birthday. He really likes fishing and hiking, and loves spotting birds and wildlife whether he's outdoors or in his house looking at the field out the window. For that reason I want something for everyday use, but also easy to carry around if he is hiking or fishing. I also think they should be pretty tough and waterproof as he loves to drop things!

I've read good things about the Vortex brand and like their lifetime warranty. However, I want to stick with a budget around $150 CAD. Open to any suggestions! I am also wondering if I should get him 8x42 or 10x42, as I like the idea of a large field of view and good magnification, but is 10x is too unsteady for handheld use?

Thanks in advance!

[Routine Help] what do I need?

Redness, large pores, closed comedones, extremely sensitive skin. History of cystic acne and POD. I know the icepick scars would need in-house treatment but I never used to have redness, large pores, and texture like this until 6 months ago. Can’t seem to use any “normal” moisturizers or sunscreen (chemical or mineral) without becoming oily or breaking out into closed comedones/small whiteheads.

Skin doesn’t like niacinamide, anything occlusive, (including LRP cicaplast and avene cicalfate), and anything from the BYOMA brand (I think using the hydrating serum for over 2 years, over-exfoliating, and POD combo is what might have got me to this point).

Morning:

-cleanse with vanicream

-cosrx ceramide barrier cream

-can’t find a sunscreen that won’t break me out. Have tried cera ve, LRP anthelios ultra fluid, lotus aroma zinc suncreen, etc

Night:

-cleanse with vanicream

-cosrx ceramide barrier cream

-the inkey list azelaic acid

-sandwich with more cosrx, OR sometimes use vanicream moisturizer from the tub to “slug” because it feels so nice and hydrating, even though it gives me clogged pores days later.

Looking for recommendations. I don’t think the cosrx is enough moisture, but anything thick breaks me out. Should I try a hydrating toner, and which one? What about an exfoliant? I also want to try to get on tret for the texture, if a derm thinks my skin can handle it.

Will also note that these photos are in good lighting, using an iPhone with a great camera, and very zoomed in so my skin looks AWFUL. It does look ~slightly~ better in person from further away.

Thoughts?

Have had persistent facial redness for a few months. Currently treating with doxycycline (1 month into 3 month prescription) because diagnosis of perioral dermatitis (and history of POD), but wondering if there are additional things going on (skin barrier/rosacea?). Will re-visit derm after doxy cycle is over.

My face will have clear days, then more red days/feeling sunburnt. Can’t seem to find a trigger. Also large pores and overall patchy/uneven tone around nose, sinus area, and bottom of forehead. Top of forehead and cheeks are generally clear and match the skin tone of my neck. Also easily prone to closed comedones. Unsure how to proceed. Skin HATES any moisturizing creams, HATES sunscreen (chemical and mineral), gives me closed comedones all around cheeks/mouth.

Current routine:

AM:

Vanicream cleanser

BYOMA hydrating serum

PM:

Vanicream cleanser

BYOMA hydrating serum

Inkey list azelaic acid (10%) every second night (want to work up to every day)

-want to try a retinol for fine lines/evenness/closed comedones but worried it will irritate/inflame me further.

Product recs and advice welcome!!
