I just realised software development has changed the way I think

Had a random realization today that made me feel kinda good about spending so many years in software development.

I was on ChatGPT, opened a chat and clicked on the “Pin” option. I waited for a second and then just refreshed the page..

A moment later I caught myself thinking.. why did I just do that?

So I tried to actually remember what was going through my head.

I guess somewhere subconsciously I had already assumed that clicking Pin would send a request to the backend, and the payload would be tiny probably just the chat ID or something similar, so I had this rough sense that the request would have gone through within that tiny moment I waited before refreshing. I didn't consciously calculate any of this. I just waited for what felt like "enough time" and refreshed. And I knew the chat was using the same URL as the homepage, so refreshing it would take me back there. Since the request should already have gone through, I expected the chat to be pinned when the page loaded again.

I didn't consciously think about any of this before doing it. I just did it.

And that really fascinated me...

After spending so many years working with software, things like requests, URLs, APIs, how pages work etc. have apparently become a part of how I naturally think about things. I don't have to actively reason through them anymore. My brain just makes these assumptions in the background.

It's such a small and probably stupid thing, but I found it strangely satisfying..

Made me realize that maybe all those years of staring at code actually did something to my brain.

Anyone who would like to act in a fun short-film?

Hii everyone! I’m an aspiring filmmaker planning a small short-film in Hyderabad (in Hindi), and I’m looking for an actor to play the male and female lead.

The film is a simple, funny rom-com with awkward, situational humour and a lot of relatable moments. Think along the lines of Premalu, Little Hearts, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Superbad in terms of the overall vibe.

The female lead is someone warm, friendly and polite with a pleasant vibe.

The male lead is awkward, slightly clueless, sensitive.. somewhat inspired by the kind of character Sachin is in Premalu.

It would be better for the story if you:

  • are comfortable in Hindi
  • are in your mid/late 20s
  • have an avg height, not too tall..
  • a normal, relatable person rather than a typical “hero/heroine”
  • The guy should be comfortable with awkward comedy scenes..

Soooo the film is a passion project, so unfortunately it’s unpaid (I knowww, sorry), but I’m genuinely excited about the script and want to make something fun, funny and rewatchable with a small group of artists who enjoy acting and filmmaking.

If you're interested, please please feel free to comment or DM me with a little about yourself. Even if you don't have experience, feel free to reach out if you think you fit the character.

Looking for 3 actors in Hyderabad to collaborate for a short film (Unpaid but fun passion project)

Hii everyone! I’m working on a small short-film script in Hyderabad and looking for three actors to play the main characters, Varun, Akash and Nikki.

I don’t want to reveal much about the story here, but it’s a grounded and simple, comedy love-story, filled with funny moments :)

It’s a passion project, so it’s unpaid (ughh), but I’m genuinely excited about the script and want to make something genuinely funny, entertaining and re-watchable, with a small group of people who are into this field.

Varun:
Mid/late 20s, around 5'2-5'5", introverted, slightly shy, awkward, sensitive. Needs to be comfortable with awkward and subtle/emotional acting and feel like a very normal, relatable guy.

Akash:
Mid/late 20s, around 5'2-5'5", more confident and easygoing. Friendly, playful, naturally funny, but also genuinely caring towards his friend.

Nikki:
Mid/late 20s, around 5'2-5'5", warm, friendly and naturally expressive. She should feel like a normal, relatable likable person rather than someone overly glamorous or dramatic.

Since it's a comedy film, the chemistry between these characters is really important, especially between Varun and Akash. They should feel like close friends who have known each other for years.

All three actors should be fluent in Hindi, since the film is primarily in Hindi.

If you’re interested, DM me or share this post with anyone you feel might be interested in and we can discuss the script to see if you find it exciting.

Really looking forward to meeting some fellow artists! :)

Why are YouTube lighting tutorials only about dark moody lighting?

I've been feeling a little frustrated with YouTube lighting tutorials. Almost every video I see about cinematic lighting is about a dark room, putting a soft key light at 45 degrees, adding a fill/backlight and some background practicals. That's fine, but why is that almost the only look? I want to learn how to light a normal bright interior in a nice way. Like a normal house in daylight/night where you can still see the room clearly, but it still feels cinematic. I was watching a Malayalam short film and the room looked natural, not dark or dramatic, but it was still beautiful. That's what I want to learn. I'm making a short film myself, and I don't have big equipment. I don't want to make everything dark just to look cinematic.

How do people light bright, natural rooms without big gear? Are there any tutorials or cinematographers who teach this kind of natural lighting? Am I searching the wrong thing?

That's it. Just a small rant, but also genuinely asking for suggestions.

Looking for a school/college to shoot a short film

Hey everyone, I'm looking for a school or college campus in/around Hyderabad for a short film I'm planning.

I mainly need a normal, simple campus feel.. corridors, a ground, maybe a canteen or some open spaces. Nothing fancy or specific.

I know this is probably a long shot because obviously no school or college is going to casually let 3-4 people come in and shoot. But just wanted to ask anyway in case someone has info, knows a place that allows this, or has any alternative ideas for getting a similar location feeling..

If you've studied somewhere that might work, or know someone I can contact, please let me know. Would really appreciate any suggestions 🙏🏻

About me.. I'm a hobbyist filmmaker based in Hyderabad, experimenting with videos. This is a tiny personal project with no crew, just actors, so I'm looking for practical locations we can actually work with.

Anyone here likes Stephen Chow movies?

I have watched a lot of Stephen Chow films and feel thats probably the kind of films I want to try to make. Not like.. Kung Fu Hustle... For obvious reasons, but that mix of weird nonsense comedy, emotion, romance.

I used to make a lot of short-films back in college because there were always people around who were willing to show up and do dumb things on camera. But now it's been 10yrs since college and these days everyone is busy with work, life, responsibilities, etc. and it has become really hard to find people who are excited about making stuff just for the fun.

So I thought I should ask here.

If you're in Hyderabad and you're into filmmaking, acting, writing, cinematography, or even someone who watches movies and wants to connect.

Not looking for professionals.. Just people who enjoy the process and want to spend some weekends trying weird ideas and seeing if they turn into something interesting.

Maybe nothing comes out of it, or maybe we end up making something really cool.

Visited Swarnagiri

Swarnagiri Temple is beautiful. I visited this temple last weekend and the experience was really nice. The weather obviously added to it. There was not a huge crowd and the management seemed to be taken care of well. I took the free line for the Darshan and it took me just 15mins to complete the darshan.
