how do people organize finances when helping family members

I’ve been helping my parents with bills recently and it’s kind of stressful because everything is scattered across accounts and papers and it’s hard to get a clear picture quickly

Which company makes the best t-shirt quilts?

I think I’ve officially entered my empty nester era because I just tried to tidy up the linen closet and somehow ended up sitting on the floor surrounded by tubs of my kid’s old t-shirts. 😅 High school sports. College events. Club shirts. Random spirit wear. The stuff I can’t donate because it feels like donating the memories, but also… I don’t want five plastic bins living in my closet forever. So I’m looking into t-shirt quilt companies (t-shirt blanket makers, memory quilt makers, whatever you call it) that can turn this pile into something I’ll actually use. Like a blanket for the couch that makes me smile instead of a clutter situation that makes me feel guilty.

What I’m trying to figure out

Which company makes the best t-shirt quilts?
Not necessarily the fanciest, just the best combo of quality, ease, and “I’m trusting you with my kid’s shirts” comfort level.

If you’ve ordered one, I’d love to know:

  1. Who you used
  2. If it felt worth it
  3. Any surprises, good or bad
  4. Any tips for choosing shirts, sizes, layouts, etc.

Names I keep seeing while researching

These pop up a lot when I search “best t-shirt quilt company” and “t-shirt memory quilt”:

  1. Project Repat
  2. MemoryStitch
  3. Campus Quilt Co.
  4. My T-Shirt Blanket
  5. QuiltKeepsake
(and I’m sure there are amazing Etsy makers, I just get overwhelmed trying to vet)

Questions I’m asking before I choose

  1. Do you use interfacing/stabilizer on every shirt block?
  2. What size are the blocks, and can I request certain graphics stay intact?
  3. Do you send a layout preview before sewing?
  4. What’s the backing like, soft and cozy or more stiff?
  5. What’s the real turnaround time once they receive the shirts?

What happens if a shirt is thin, cracked, or has holes?

My “before and after” goal

Right now: bins of shirts I can’t let go of, taking up space.
What I want: a blanket I can throw over the couch, that feels like a warm little time capsule, but in a way that’s actually useful.

If you’ve done this, tell me who you used and whether you’d recommend them. Especially if yours was for that whole “kid left home and the house feels weirdly quiet” phase.

lease accounting software recommendations for a company with around 40 leases?

staff accountant, inherited the lease accounting workpapers from the previous senior who left. we're on asc 842, have about 40 leases, mostly office and equipment, and the current setup is a macro-heavy excel that i'm pretty sure has a few errors nobody has caught yet. controller is open to finally buying actual software. what are yall using and whats the actual price range for something this size? every vendor page says contact us for pricing which is exhausting.

Anyone using NetSuite AI connector yet?

Has anyone used the NetSuite AI connector to help with month-end close? I work at a small firm and we're constantly buried in close tasks. My boss keeps saying that AI is the answer, but I'm skeptical. I've tried AI tools before where I ended up spending more time reviewing and correcting the output than just doing the work myself. Does the NetSuite AI connector actually reduce the close workload, or does it just shift the effort to cleanup and validation?

i have two loan offers sitting in front of me and still dont feel confident in how to compare personal loans the right way

i opened my account in college and just never touched it again. recently started noticing fees and seeing people talk about better options. now i’m looking at switching but not sure if it’s actually worth the hassle or if this is just one of those things people over-optimize. what made you decide to switch or stay?

a close friend of mine lost his mom last year, and they were really close. mother’s day was always their thing, he’d plan something thoughtful, bring a gift, just spend real time with her. yesterday he came over and asked me, “what do i even do this year?” he said he’s been trying to treat it like a normal day, but it’s not working, it still feels heavy and kind of empty.

he told me the strangest part is not picking out a gift for her, like his body expects it even if she’s not here. i didn’t really know what to say. part of me feels like he should still do something to honor her, but i’m scared of saying the wrong thing. has anyone been through this, what actually helps on a day like that?

I’m trying to declutter a pile of old t-shirts. I don’t want to just throw them away, so I’ve been looking into having a quilt made instead. It seems like a good zero-waste option, especially for shirts that are too worn to donate. I’ve come across a few t-shirt quilt companies while searching, but it’s hard to tell which ones are actually good quality and worth it. Some look quite polished online, but reviews are mixed depending on where you look.

Has anyone here used a t-shirt quilt company and been happy with the result? I’d really appreciate honest feedback before I commit.

Feels like Docker is still the default, but more people seem to be moving away from it depending on their setup. Some are switching to Podman or nerdctl for a more lightweight, daemonless approach. Others are using Kaniko or Buildah for builds, especially in Kubernetes environments. Then you’ve got alternatives like Nomad instead of k8s, or even things like LXC or FreeBSD Jails if you’re not tied to Linux containers. On macOS, I keep seeing OrbStack and Colima come up as Docker Desktop replacements. And when it comes to base images, a lot of teams seem to be moving toward Alpine, distroless, or more minimal/hardened images. It’s mind boggling. What are people here using in practice? Are you fully off Docker, or swapping out parts of the stack?

I’m trying to build more of a business casual/work wardrobe and keep running into the same problem with blazers. I have broader shoulders and longer arms, and on the bigger side, so if I buy my usual size, it feels too tight across the shoulders and the sleeves are too short. But if I size up it ends up looking boxy and loose in the wrong places. I know tailoring would probably help, but I’m hoping to find brands that fit better off the rack first. I’m mainly looking for blazers I could wear for work or interviews. If you're a woman with broad shoulders,, where do you had the best luck finding blazers that actually fit well?

I was talking to a resident friend who recently finished med school, and they mentioned how they wish someone had walked them through the full picture of financing earlier, not just tuition, but interest rates, repayment timing, and how different borrowing choices actually play out over time. It got me thinking how a lot of people only start digging into the details once they’re already committed, and by then it feels like you’re just optimizing within constraints instead of choosing from scratch. Curious how others here approached it, did you map out loans and repayment scenarios early on, or figure it out as you went once school started?

i’m looking for an easy way to manage my personal budget and keep track of income and expenses without getting into overly complex accounting tools, ideally something that can also handle basic small side business finances if needed. What apps or services are you using that feel simple, reliable, and actually save you time each month?
