Tackle the problem at its source

My phone updated its editing so now my memes look sloppy :(

But point should land.

So many people complain about killers, or perks, or strategies that they find oppressive. And there is so much discourse around them.

I've said this before but BHVR are prioritizing the wrong thing, and we're all complaining about the wrong things.

You can nerf or buff everything you want, but when a baby killer gets stacked against four comp-level survivors (or vice versa), the game’s gonna feel miserable no matter what.

A high tier nurse/blight/ghoul are going to shatter a survivors day.

A noob solo squad getting tunnelled out by a killer that got lower MMR after being stomped a few times by swf's out of their skill range will obliterate them.

The more competitive the player, the more likely they are to "gen rush" or tunnel to combat the other. The more theyll play stronger killers not for enjoyment, but to win. The more they'll run the most aggressive gen builds, or cuddle 2nd chance perks.

And you cant blame anyone. At all. Because everyones experience is so vastly different.

For an average player, current matchmaking means you can have a good game, only to probably get an ass slapping next time round.

That means being paired with even more ass slappings until you couldnt drop lower as you just dont go up and remain stuck (specifically solo queue). Killers side? Vicious cycle of if I win, i lose the next one - forcing sweaty plays and turns out the sweaty play was against some poor uncoordinated solo queue gang because their MMR dropped without them realising.

My own personal proposal?

Match making based off Emblems, not Rank colour like before and CERTAINLY not the current shitty 'did you escape?/How many did you kill?)

What did you do that trial? Were you a gen jockey? Were you a nice little hot dog on a stick?

Who cares if you escaped.

As for killer, how did you fair against the survivors? Did you do a great job in a chase so now need to be matched against better runners? Did you do some banging gen control and now need a slight bump in coordinated teams?

MMR based on multiple values, not just one. Average the balance of all 4 emblems across the players most compatible at the particular moment in the queue.

Lightbringer against gate keeper etc.

Fuck im sure we'd be much happier with an extra few minutes in a queue if we could leave a game saying "Fuck it that was aight".

Killers that struggle with gen speeds would see FAR less rush builds, those rush builds will get paired with the absolute demons that truly know how to combat it. (For just one example).

Survivors that struggle with tunnelling will eventually be paired with other survivors that know and understand how to help, not just baby megs, and persistent hard tunnellers will get paired with people that truly know how to last.

Everyone gets a chance to grow and above all *play the freaking game they paid for*.

Once matchmaking is fixed, the actual very real cracks will reveal themselves over time. What is actually too strong? Whats actually a problem inherently and not just a case of player skill diff.

Thanks for coming to my Dead talk

EDIT: Fuck it, TLDR: Balancing as a whole becomes easier to review and work on when the playing field is more even.

A million bp's spent and only 6 cakes

A million spent manually on P9 Jason. And only 6 cakes. Spent another 300k on my P100 Kate, and only got 2.

I'll pocket the rest for now.

We need to fix this issue, it was the same last year. C'mon BHVR, lets have it.

EDIT: I'm genuinely suprised to see people defending this. I'm not usually a massive complainer but heres the problem:

You want the BPs to level up low characters - but you have to invest them in high level characters because the cakes are very rare.

You use that cake, play a match, earn enough to unlock another cake on that character. Use it again, earn enough, unlock another cake 300k bps later. Rinse and repeat.

Because if you invest in a low level character, as many of us want to do, you wont get a cake, because theyre very rare, and also lose the advantage they give you in the event. You're ultimately spending more than you're earning just to get one cake.

If you genuinely dont see that as a problem idk what to tell you champ.

No, Jason does not need a nerf

I've seen a lot of people calling for nerfs, specifically to Omnipresent Evil over the last few dsys, and the most common suggestion seems to be adding a time limit to it.

Before discussing balance, it's worth understanding how the power actually works:

• Jason cannot see you through Omnipresent Evil if you're crouch-walking and not interacting with anything. Yet, It is your choice to sit there doing nothing whilst he's in his power. Your active decision to avoid taking a chase.

You have a good couple seconds to react before he's on top of you. Look out for locations he can spawn from and plan your exit like you would any other killer. Adding a timer would completely undermine the entire concept of the power.

The whole point is that Jason feels omnipresent (woah). If the power expires after a few seconds, survivors can simply stop moving and wait it out.

At that point, the ability becomes little more than a map traversal tool, and Jason is left slowly walking around the map once it's over.

Stop being so afraid to take chase. With Jason, accept you're taking chase early this game - if you bait Jason into chasing you, the rest of your team gets time to work on generators uncontested.

Personally, I think this is one of the best indirect slowdown mechanics we've had in a long time. It pressures survivors without directly increasing generator times or introducing more regression perks.

Which fuck that.

I'm not even going to address the javelin. Deathsliger and huntress have prepped you for this. If you're struggling with that, that ones on you.

Jason is a great follow from Vecna as one of the most balanced killers we've had in a long time. High skill, simple counterplay. This isnt Chessmerchant Krasue or Ghoul. Learn the damn counterplay before calling for nerfs.
