Just saw this on BuzzFeed - Bartender revenge against non-tippers

As the title says, I was reading a BuzzFeed article, “You ARE Being Ripped Off: 34 Mind-Blowing Industry Secrets That Employees Wish More People Knew About.”

And there it was at #8. I know that nobody here will be shocked. I prefer to make my own drinks at home.

“8. "Bartender here. We ALWAYS know which regulars don’t tip. There is a minimum and a maximum amount of alcohol we can put in your drink, so if you don’t tip, you definitely get the minimum! US laws basically say that it is the customer who is to pay us for the work we do for them. If you don’t pay me for the work I just did for you, I’m shaking your next margarita for about 2 seconds, if I shake it at all, and it will be mostly mixer with just enough tequila for you to taste it. If you do pay me, you’re going to get the best margarita you’ve ever had! So basically, always tip your bartenders and servers, especially if you go to the same place on a somewhat regular basis."

Gift question

My daughter’s boyfriend is turning 25 and moving into a new apartment across the country. I have a Surge that I use a lot, but it is not my EDC (it is always close by, in the truck).

I want to get him his first multitool and an considering Wingman (good introduction to see if he’ll use it/need it), Rebar (feels like it has the tool set he will most likely use), and Wave+ (more than I care to spend, but hey they have been dating for 4 years).

OK, community, what say you? I am leaning Rebar. Go! And thank you in advance.

Looking for advice (but extender and ratchet)

I have a Surge and use the bit extension fairly often with a bit kit. Is it possible to put an adapter on the extender to drive sockets? If so, what type of adapter? 1/4-inch -to-hex?

Do people do this? Is it stable? Better to do this with the ratchet? Not looking to do real high torque work. Just the occasional reach into a narrow space and would like to not carry a screwdriver style socket handle.

Thanks in advance!

A newbie looking for advice

I no longer travel a lot for work, and when I did it was mostly flying on Delta. I have a moderate amount of miles accumulated (250K), mostly due to the United Quest Card and a couple of domestic vacations.

United is offering a 25% bonus for converting Marriott Bonvoy points to miles, capped at 25,000 miles, so 100,000 points to convert. Is this a good deal? I noticed that Bonvoy points get converted 3 points to one mile. So, that is what is confusing me more.

I know this group can help me sort out whether to convert or keep the Marriott points where they are for a future hotel stay at a JW Marriott or Ritz Carlton for a nice discount.

Thanks in advance for your expertise!

Captain Nick Foligno

Remind me again why we didn’t keep the guy who was a leader on, and off, the ice? Seriously, did we let him go or did he decide he wanted to leave? I am only a casual fan and I do not remember.

What I do remember are the hugs post game with Bobrovsky.
