So I finally finished up Ragnar. It's my first time trying the Eavy Metal style and my first time actually painting a mini without making it swim in wash. I'm looking for advice on how to improve because I feel like I overdid it on the highlights with the pure white part. Also I just noticed I forgot to do the gem on his medal thingy.
I have been told by family that I'm underweight.
I'm a 169cm tall 16 year old guy who weighs 47.9kg but sometimes when I weigh myself in the morning I'm 46kg. I am currently eating around 1820cal a day witch is better than the 1620cal I was eating last year. Back then I was 42kg. My main worry about getting to a normal weight is that if I do that I would have to go to the gym and actually be more active witch I hate. I don't really have the energy to do it after school and I prefer to just get back home and study for a bit and I also cook my own food so that's more time taken. Now I know that there is absolutely nothing stopping me from going to the gym after school except the fact i just want to be home all day after school. And I fear that if I had a normal weight I would just gain fat and look bad. I once had a nightmare about it for some reason. I know I should probably gain weight but I can't get myself to do it because Im already kinda insecure about myself and don't want to make it worse.
I decided to sit down again and start painting the other parts like the backpack and some fur I hadn't glued on. I wasn't planning on doing the fur and cape but decided to just do it because I had mixed my paints to do the fur part I haven't glued on yet and was worried I wouldn't replicate it. I also put in black legion contrast in his under armour, I hope that having the cape and under armour painted doesn't give me problems when doing the armor because there was some spill over. Painting him has been very slow because I'm trying to do that thing where you put darker paint in the recesses instead off a wash because I forgot to buy nuln oil.
I decided to paint up my Ragnar Blackmane. I haven't painted anything else yet but decided to do his head.
Primed grey seer spray for base, then I used 1 coat Guilliman Flesh contrast and put a thinned down layer of Kislev flesh on almost all the face except the recesses. I did his teath with pure white from army painter and also used strong tone wash on the sides of his face under the cheek bones. I'm pretty new to painting and what I've learned from this is that I hate painting small details lol.
It's been like 6 months or something since I first thought about starting an army for old world. Being very undecisive I still haven't been able to pick an army and I doubt I would actually make a decision now because this is like the 30th time I've "narrowed down" to 2 armies. I'm a complete beginner and have only played one 750p game with dwarfs the game store I go to let me use ( skaven made my units flee and get caught lol)
Now with the new chaos vs Cathay box I'm interested in WoC again, only problem I find with them is that they look like they would require me to buy more paint and would be much harder to paint with units like marauders and there cavalry while dwarfs are pretty straight forward with painting and I also like dwarfs. My only worry with them is that I might get bored from them.
At this point I've been jumping from army to army for a while now to the point I've tried to quit the hobby as a whole but I keep coming back to it even after losing my interest in it and it's really bugging me.
I have looked at kill team and blood bowl but I dont really like kill team and while blood bowl is actually a game I kinda like there aren't many players in my area.
Im kinda frustrated with myself at this point but GW has me spoiled by choice...
