Weight gain advice

M22, weigh 47kg, 5'6", vegetarian, have IBS.

Is there a solid way to increase weight....

I tried calories surplus intake, but always end up doing more harm to my digestive system than gaining weight.

Looking for tried and tested advice, not some generic one of increase calories intake.... The question is how to effectively increase my calories intake.

Im worried about gaining weight

I have been told by family that I'm underweight.

I'm a 169cm tall 16 year old guy who weighs 47.9kg but sometimes when I weigh myself in the morning I'm 46kg. I am currently eating around 1820cal a day witch is better than the 1620cal I was eating last year. Back then I was 42kg. My main worry about getting to a normal weight is that if I do that I would have to go to the gym and actually be more active witch I hate. I don't really have the energy to do it after school and I prefer to just get back home and study for a bit and I also cook my own food so that's more time taken. Now I know that there is absolutely nothing stopping me from going to the gym after school except the fact i just want to be home all day after school. And I fear that if I had a normal weight I would just gain fat and look bad. I once had a nightmare about it for some reason. I know I should probably gain weight but I can't get myself to do it because Im already kinda insecure about myself and don't want to make it worse.

I ate 3.6k calories on average and couldn't gain weight. Any idea why? Transformation failed

Hello,

I have been underweight as the the height-weight ratio is not upto the standard. I was eating 1,200 calories / day before 4th of August, and afterwards I began eating 3.6k calories / day on an average since 4th of August. I hoped to discern a little bit improvement in my weight scale. However, much to my surprise and disappointment, my weight plummeted by 0.6kg instead of increasing. I checked it yesterday. What could be the reason? And please do not raise suspicion on my diet. Yes I consistently ate healthy and protein rich (120g protein) food.

I am feeling like giving up today. No improvement in my face at all. So what could be the reasons?

I’m trying to gain more weight

I’m 15f like 5’2/5’3 and on a good day I weigh 108 pounds. Ik I have a fast metabolism and I’m basically always active, I also don’t eat a lot. What should I start doing to gain a little bit more weight? I’ve tried eating more but I hate forcing myself to eat, and there’s not a lot of food I enjoy either, i’m just very lost.

How can I tell whether I’m underweight or simply naturally lean?

I’m 21 years old, 5’7”, and around 137 pounds. I’ve always had a naturally lean build, but I sometimes wonder whether I look too skinny. I’m currently working out and trying to gain muscle by eating enough calories and protein. What signs distinguish being naturally lean from being underweight, and what helped you build muscle in a healthy way?

I know this has probably been asked a million times…

…but here I go, anyway.

So I have a very dear friend— one of my best— and she’s had a rough go of life. I won’t go into details, but she is now extremely underweight (not by her own volition; she is actively trying her best).

She’s an otherwise healthy woman (aged 40), who is very athletic, has a physically demanding job (she’s an LMT in the state of California), and she has two young children that run around with her a LOT.

She eats healthily; we live together and her diet is pretty basic but generally whole foods. She eats a lot of fish and rice especially, but she’ll eat pretty much anything.

I digress.

Anyway, what is a decent, HEALTHY way for her to gain weight? Working out isn’t the issue; she loves being active. But does anybody have any advice on how to help her just put on the weight she really needs.

INFO: she’s like 5’1, and weighed in at 98lb. this morning.

I’m not a professional, but I’m new here and I was hoping maybe someone in the internet ether would have some good advice on helping her get back her “winter coat”, as she so casually puts it. 🤷🏾😂👍🏽

Please, mods, don’t ban this. I’m not asking for life-changing stuff, just maybe some little tips some people who have been in the same spot that may be helpful.

concerning weight loss

hi everyone, ive attached images of myself from a photo today, aug 7 (slide 1) and april (slide 2). Im not sure if this is the correct subreddit but this is the only one focused on maintaining a healthy weight.
weight in slide 1: ~100lbs
weight in slide 2: ~115lbs
i DO NOT have an eating disorder. I have started a new medication recently thats been unfortunately suppressing my appetite, and I mostly cut meat out of my diet ~1.5 months ago
due to this, I eat less than 1000cal a day.
Does anyone have any high calorie/protein rich food to help gain weight?
I am not comfortable including pictures of my body, but it is making my bones very visible and I want to look and feel healthier. I have felt very fatigued and nauseous recently.
I really would appreciate some help. Thank you

Help/advice to gain weight

Hi guys! I recently experienced a medical issue and I’ve been healing from it for a month now. From when I got diagnosed with a bacteria up until after I finished my antibiotics (horrible experience) I ended up losing 10 pounds.

I make all my meals at home. I eat 3 meals a day including some snacks in between if I get hungry. I have lost another pound and I would really like to put some weight back on. I feel so frail I hate it because that’s never been me :( for context I previously weighted 117lb (always fluctuated from 115-120) but I am now 107lbs.

I am not vegan, vegetarian or lactose so no dietary restrictions.

If anyone has advice I’m all ears! Before I forget to add, I also work out 4-5 times a week. No cardio really besides walks or the occasional stair master. Focusing on strengthening my back, legs and arms.

I tried posting in the nutrition sub but man they flag everything :(

26F, 5’5” and 99 lbs how did you successfully gain weight? Looking to gain at least 10–12 lbs

Heeeeeey everyone! I’m 26F, 5’5” (165 cm) and currently around 99 lbs (45 kg). I’ve been naturally very skinny my entire life and I don’t think I’ve ever weighed more than 110 lbs.
I really want to gain some weight, and ideally I’d like to gain at least 10–12 lbs (around 5 kg) over the next couple of months. I have an important event coming up, so this is something I’m really motivated to work on right now.
For those of you who have been in a similar situation and actually managed to gain weight, what worked for you? What did you eat on a typical day? Did you use protein shakes or high-calorie smoothies?
I’d qespecially love to hear from u who started at a similar weight and have always struggled to put on weight.
Thank you!! :)

Is it ok to be 91lbs at 13 (I’m almost 5”2)

I used to struggle with food but have gotten better-got up to 93 before falling back into habits and now trying to gain back. I don’t starve myself but I’m very active and have a small appetite . I hate the textures of smoothies and am allergic to nuts and nut butters.

How do I gain weight?

So for the last year or so because of ED issues I have weight 99lbs. the ED is also what brought about my GERD issues so now it’s kinda stopping me from gaining weight. I try my best to have a fruit smoothy in the mornings and my lunch is usually plain white rice because it’s easy + whatever dinner my family is having. I know I don’t eat enough and that’s a problem, but I need ways that I can gain more weight from the food that I do manage to eat. (I’m also on a mostly plant based diet, I only eat white meat sometimes and I’ll have a cheese burger or taco like once a month but that’s it.)

I know that if I can manage to gain like even like 15lbs a lot of the big problems I have will go away again I just can’t manage to gain even 5. So any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
