Why didn't Carl get Markus rebuilt?

Assuming you choose that particular route, how come Carl doesn't get Markus rebuilt, even if it's just Kara-style with a memory wipe? Carl seemed to have a distinct personal connection to Markus and it seemed odd that he would be okay with letting him be chucked out into an android landfill. It makes sense if Carl isn't around and it's just another defective android, but surely most of Markus' damage is not inflicted by the police (i.e. missing legs) and were simply a by-product of his being disposed of afterwards. Carl also clearly has a bit of money too, given that he has a best-that-money-can-buy home help android in the first place (+ that house).

Was it just that the story really couldn't go on without Markus rebuilding himself? I felt that Carl was probably one of the few people who would have let their android go if he were to be asked by them.

Having to spam undo on my tablet

Hi there,

I'm learning to draw with krita and an XPPEN Innovator 16 and I'm having a constant issue with undoing things; I have the top button on my tablet bound to CTRL-Z (and had it as B before that, been trying both) for undoing things, and it only sometimes works.

For instance if I am drawing circles, sometimes I can undo instantly with one press of the button, but many other times despite the circle being one brush-stroke it takes 3,4,5 times before it undoes the thing.

The tablet's UI program shows that it is registering the input and krita is the active window. I'm not sure what is causing this problem but it's become very annoying when trying to practise things. I'm not using a stabiliser setting at all which is what a friend thought it might be.

Is there any idea what this problem could be and how to solve it? Thanks in advance!

How fast could The Thing assimilate/imitate someone/something?

A thing I've not understood after rewatching The Thing is how long does it actually need to copy / take-over something?

For instance, when the Thing decides to reveal itself to the dogs (I assume because it seems to always get hostile when noticed, and the dogs seem to know it's not 'proper'), it has to take so much time revealing itself that the dogs can alert everyone else. It's not taking hours to do it, but it's not capable of just overpowering immediately either. Even when overpowered, the dogs still got to at least start alerting folks.

Then we have the shot from earlier of the dog going to see someone in their room in the dormitories. Especially in the canine form, what can we expect the thing did when it visited someone in a shot that heavily implies on second watching that it assimilated/imitated that person? But within the dorms with others they caused no noise and it happened fast enough to prevent that?

So did it need to actually do longer drawn-out takeovers of other creatures? Or was it just that it could pass through shared fluids etc? The ending of course is infamous with the shared bottle, so why does that seem to matter so much if the Thing also at times needs a more drawn-out approach to taking over somebody, and other times might be able to do it silently.

I know with Bennings it seemed like it had almost finished replicating him, though it's implied it gets the jump on him (and makes quite the mess doing so, too). But if it could just do it in more passive ways...why wouldn't it?

Am I just really missing something here? Or is the Thing very inconsistent with how it actually goes about doing its thing?

[Online]New Player Looking For Their First Game/Group [Flexible][BRP][3.5][5e 2014]

Hi there! I'm Traslo / Logan, I'm a first-time player looking to try out some tabletop.
As said, I'm completely new to all this and would like to find a group that would be willing to help onboard me with learning the ropes, whether that's in some one-shot premade adventures or a longer campaign etc. I've made a character sheet or two so far but not played.

I would like to avoid anything too homebrew whilst just getting to grips, I'd like to know the foundations before I see the modifications if you know what I mean. I imagine I'd like anything generally fantasy, I understand most games are D&D5e but any edition would be fine if you're okay with me learning it anew. The one or two character sheets I've tried making have been the default 5e character sheet on Roll20.

I'm in the UK but I'm nocturnal and can easily do 12pm-12am EST and happy to use my microphone. I'd be up for playing multiple times a week or multiple days in a row as my days are fairly flexible and I make my own hours.

Whilst I'm new I'm hoping to find groups that are invested / take it seriously whilst still having fun, and when it comes to roleplay I'm happy to describe / narrate my characters actions but not quite fully voice-act them.

If you're okay with me asking every cliché newbie question in the book, I'd love to hear from you either here on this post / via PM.

Been doing a Hang-On-Like Pseudo3D racer in Godot

Been learning more of Godot with a Pseudo3D racer project, inspired by Super Hang-On, Racing Hero, Slip Stream, etc.
Playable here (WIP, be warned :P ) : https://traslo.itch.io/micro-moto
60FPS YT Version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9orXeMJyeF8

I do an annual Gameboy gamejam (GBJAM) and so I based my restrictions around the 160x144 Gameboy resolution with 4-colours available. I need to do more roadside objects but I've been focusing on AI racers and procrastinating opening Aseprite again :P
