Limewash paint first timer here

Hello. I recently did limewash for the first time. I think it turned out pretty well but I am curious if anyone can help me with some advice. I would like to go over it with a deeper color and probably do another 2 coats but I really want it to have more movement and contrast. What would you do to give it greater depth? Thank you for the help. I appreciate it.

Lime wash help

Ok. I am about to do a lime wash paint for someone. They have painted the walls already with a latex paint without knowing the process. I know that it is best to order the appropriate mineral based primer to have the lime wash adhere properly. However I am wondering if I can use an alternative primer from a big box hardware store or can I do something else to prepare the surface? Is there something else I can put down first that will work for this. Any help or advice is appreciated. Thank you.
