The GOP corruption at the federal level is "trickling down" to the state level

https://www.nhpr.org/nh-news/2026-07-01/nh-newhampshire-state-government-courts-supreme-court-judiciary-politics

Republicans hiring each other for oversight through a no-bid no-contract system.

Some deets here:

> Periklis Karoutas is a Concord lobbyist with a lengthy client list and deep ties to the state’s Republican Party. With experience running GOP political campaigns and a major fundraising committee for Republican Senate candidates, he’s among the most well-connected figures in the New Hampshire State House.

and

> Karoutas’ hiring by the state Supreme Court, done without any public notice and through a no-bid contracting process

and

> Records show that Karoutas and his firm, Legislative Solutions, were hired just days after news of that payout became public. According to a copy of the contract obtained by NHPR, Karoutas was hired at a monthly $10,000 rate to help guide the court’s public response to this outside attention, among other things.

Our tax dollars at work for the rich and corrupt. Literally hiring lobbyists with taxpayer funds for $120,000 a year to spin negative news about themselves.

"Party of Small Government" passes legislation to regulate local town business taxes, property taxes, building permits, education, and more

Were Republicans ever serious people? How many decades are they going to claim they're winning while the economy goes to trash?

Looking forward to next year's "we can't fund the state budget, again" commentary.

The reality of the situation:

> "Republicans have been in charge of state government for the last decade, and they have done nothing to lower costs," said House Democratic Leader Alexis Simpson. "Instead of funding public education and freezing college tuition, they spent millions on vouchers for the wealthy and tax cuts for out-of-state corporations."

'Campus carry' bill dies after rep Sam Farrington (R-Rochester) gets in heated hallway argument with Senate President Sharon Carson and negotiations stall

Good thing this died, it was pure stupidity from the start.

Too bad our Republican legislators mimic the president. They focus on the dumbest and most inflammatory laws possible instead of doing something useful i.e. things that benefit the people of New Hampshire.

Of course, the most important lines are at the bottom of the article:

> Democrats said the entire issue has been a distraction.

> "I believe this body should be dedicating more time to serving the meaningful material needs of our constituents, like the cost of living and the need for opportunity, as opposed to softening the edges of agenda-driven policies," said Senate Democratic Leader Rebecca Perkins Kwoka.
