This is no zaKu boy, No zaku!

We're finally here! Commercial mechs are finally real and they look just like we imagine them!

They look straight outta any anime if not even better! 🤩😍🥰

If you wanna buy one, they're just 600k USD, and the model is the GD01

I just wanna give props to the random japanese builder who made this kit , that is all.

here is the link for anyone who currently has 600 bucks just burning a hole in their pocket.

i know i said i wanted to give props to the builder, but the ebay profile is from a store that re-sells built kits. i doubt they built the kit originally.

still, i couldnt let this masterpiece go unoticed.

Has anyone tested out the fake galaxy buds pro that are flooding the market? are they any good?

I've been seeing these fake galaxy buds flooding the market for a while now.

the examples in the pictures are very likely fakes. no one is gonna sell them brand new for those ridiculous prices. about 50% off market price.

but i wonder if the quality is good enough though.

like, i could deal with a 10% reduction in quality in exchange for 50% reduction in price.

but if the quality goes down by 50% then i would rather wait for the original ones to drop in price.

has anyone gotten a set of these? were they any good?

So I recently copped a pair at 60 bucks BRAND SPANKING NEW on amazon.

i was excited because i wanted to try them for a long time. but they were always too expensive. i forgot about them bc i just wrote them off as being out of my price range, but took note of them when the older model, the PRO, was on sale for 40 bucks used. I didnt get those because ANC is a MUST for me nowadays. but i kept the 3ANC on my amazon wish list and would regularly check the price now that they were at a steady 99bucks. and to my surprise, they recently dropped to 60 bucks.

it was such a good deal that i considered buying 2 sets at that price, but the underwhelming 4 star reviews stopped me from doing so. (yes 4 star is bad. at this price range, and with so much competition, anything below 4.5 stars is a bad rating)

anyways, i did get the one set bc i figured the worst thing that could happen is i return them.

when i connected them to my phone, I inmediately noticed the premium sound, and I sooo wanted to love them but I inmediately noticed some major flaws...

but lets start with the good:

pros:

  1. premium level sound (albeit not the best ive heard, from my experience, the DENON dual driver sound is the best ive heard, although i have yet to hear the Sonys WF-1000XM6, which from what ive seen online, seem to be the top of the mountain so far)

  2. ANC is impressive. My guess is that it stands at around 48 to 52 db. based on other sets i have with those ratings.

  3. they stay surprisingly sturdy on the ear, even when mushing them with my shoulder to press play.

  4. they use a latex/rubbery surface on the part that rest on your ear, which helps them grip onto your skin, and stay in place. (i think more companies should do this)

  5. they use premium materials, everything about them feels premium as opposed to the previous generation which cheapened out on the plastic for the case.

  6. they give you multiple options for gummies and for "wing" tips. which arent really wing tips, they just have wider "resting pads" to fill the outer ear cannal better. (hopefully you can tell from the picture)

  7. they have multiple improvements over the previous version and from what i hear on the reviews, the app was updated to address multiple complaints such as not being able to preview eq settings as you change them, and having to save your eq settings before testing them out (fixed) no "find my" feature (fixed) losing connection all the time (maybe fixed, i havent had issues so far)

now the cons, they were so many that i had to put them in categories

knit picks:

-app is very barebones

-the looks are hit or miss. they look just ok for me, definitely stick out of the ear a ton for my taste, the overal look is aaight, but not my to my liking. they still look smaller than i thought and more premium than i thought. so, it's a tie for me.

- bluetooth version 5.2. i blame this on the development timeline, but my guess is that when they came out, for sure 5.3 was already mainstream, and 5.4 might have been available.

cons, annoying but not deal breakers:

-"ANC OFF" feature can only be accessed on the app, not on earbuds . from the earbuds, you can only choose "ANC on" or "transparent".

- these fuckers are heavy. i know it is because of their above average battery, which gets rave reviews, but id rather have less battery time and a considerable weight reduction. (more on this later)

- cant custom map the buttons

-physical buttons are super small and "mushy"

- touch buttons are extremely unresponsive for this price bracket. id say they miss 30% of the time.

-lacluster mids .they heavily advertise their TRIPLE driver system, but the driver used for the mids i dont think was meant to be used that way. ive seen other earbuds that use a different typle of driver that might have done a better job then this one. it is like theyre using a tweeter for the mids. and you can definitely notice a gap in the curve.

-they stick out of the ear too much for my taste, i feel like ultron wearing these (not too noticeable though)

serious cons: (these could be dealbreakers, and were the reason i was about to return them but luckily i fixed both of these, i will include the fixes below each one)

  1. at medium volume sound was great, but at high volume, there was a PIERCING HISSSSS, and everyone's voice sounded like cobra commander. or it reminded me of that scene from Jackie Brown "did you forget where you parked, lewisssssssssssssssss?" it was wayy too much and no matter how much i messed with the EQ i could not get rid of it. I also tried all 3 presets from the app, and none of them would get rid of it, it actually hurt my ears each time. just horrible sound. but even so, i saw the potential in the sound so i didnt want to give up on it.

FIX: i found that if, on the EQ, i moved the 14k band ALL THE WAY DOWN, it finally got rid of that shrieking HISSSSS that was so painful to my ears and so fucking distracting. yes, it was an extreme measure, but guess what, they sound great now.

  1. the second major con, was that these were legit the MOST unconfortable earbuds i have ever tried. and multiple reviews on youtube mentioned this , which i thought was weird, i dont remember discomfort ever being mentioned when discussing earbuds. yes, that is a factor when discussing headphones, but it usually relates to the ear cups.

these fuckers were UNCONFORTABLE to wear, again, this was a factor that almost made me return them. and i tried so many ways to get rid of the pain. yes pain, not just pain, these things were also giving me headaches. at first i thought it was just a matter of getting used to the irregular shape of them and maybe waiting for my ears to get adjusted, so i figured id just push trough the pain and wait for my ears to be adjusted...

nope, the pain never went away, and it was also giving me headaches.

FIX: so after trying a bunch of stuff i finally figured what was the cause of the pain, and it was 2 main factors... (see 2nd and 3rd picture)

  1. the little tube onto which the earbud gummy attaches to is too wide. so the gummy really presses onto the edges of your ear canal. which then interacts with the second reason...

  2. these fuckers are heavy. and the way the weight is distributed causes gravity to push them down at the outer end and up inside your ear canal, which puts pressure on the walls of your ear canal. that is why the pain would never go away, because of the constant pressure. so how i solved this was by switching to the smallest gummy size, which released some of that pressure, and the biggest wingtip, which held them more securely on my ear, and stopped them from being pulled down on the outside. this didnt completely solve the issue but id say that the pressure was reduced by by about 70% and although there is still a bit of discomfort, it is barely noticeable now. ( i will include a picture to show what i mean)

if you have small ears, AVOID THESE LIKE THE PLAGUE,. they will torture your ears. i have medium to large ears, so i have more options to solve this issue.

Anyways, with these fixes, combined with the incredible low price that i found these at, i believe i can keep them. or at least i will keep them until the end of my return period and will update this if I other issues arise that made the return them.

I would recommend these for someone who is looking for premium sound at a mid tier/bargain price, someone who can get them for 60 bucks, and someone who has the patience to tinker with them for a long time until they feel just right.

i dont recommend these to the average consumer at all, nor someone with small ears.

let me know what your experience has been with them if you have them. if you contradict anything i say, be ready to defend your opinion, dont just throw a " i didnt feel that at all bud" and not be ready to back up what you say.

i hope someone who is considering buying these finds this helpful in making their decision.

if you think this rant was too long and i should go touch some grass, this rant wasnt meant for you.

so i made a post recently asking about what MS was better, a zakuII or a vanilla jim.

and there were mixed opinions, but the majority argued that the GM was better than the zaku not only in specs, but also logistics wise.

and from the comments, i got the impression that the first zeon suit to be able to beat the GM was the gelgoog.

but then, where does the gouf stand in all of this, and how come it didnt get much action in the OYW?

was it just a niche suit meant for spec ops? the ones we saw in the series, were they test units? were they ever mass produced?

also, the most important question, is it a zaku?
