When did you see decrease in blood pressure ?

Hello everybody, I am 25m and struggling with hypertension diagnosis 6 ish months ago. Long story short, I have turned my life around, lost 20 pounds since diagnosis, 60 total. (Currently at 215 from 275, 5’ 10”). Run 3 times a week, not fast but can run 5ks without stopping.

Diet is decent, only caffeine I intake is a can of Diet Coke a day.

But my blood pressure hasn’t budged even on meds. Well after starting meds I averaged 130/70, stopped taking it for a few months because doc said that was good. Now the past 3 days I am 138-142/70 average. It runs strongly in my family.

When did you guys see decrease in blood pressure ? Slowly overtime? none at all? When you reached a healthy weight?

I just feel defeated man. I’m putting the work in, I feel great, but my brain is spiraling about this stupid blood pressure.

Any positivity and advice greatly appreciated.

Need reassurance/advice, 25M trying to navigate BP journey.

So my wife had preeclampsia about 6 months ago, so we purchased a BP monitor. I decided to take mine (obviously stressed out about her), and would get readings 160-170 systolic, with diastolic being 70 or below.

Decided I would wait until life got a little more calm, and if it was still high would go to doctor. Well I was still running high 130s-150s so I went to my PCP. I was super anxious but didn’t think my BP would be super bad, it was 178/96!!

Long story short, I did extensive blood panel and all came back good. And stated losartan 50mg/HCT 12.5. Took 3 weeks of measurements and averaged 130/70 so doc said that’s good for now.

But man, my anxiety about this whole ordeal is still weighing on me. After my 3 week log I stopped taking it, because it was determining my mood for the day. It was a horrible loop. Anyways, life got back to normal and I just took the meds and hoped it was good.

Now, after about 3 months, I decided to check to make sure it was still good. Past 3 days I’ve averaged maybe 138/68. I’ve lost 20 pounds since diagnosis, sleep is good, diet decent, only down to 1 can of Diet Coke a day, up to running 5ks. Wtf man. I feel so defeated and feel like I started the loop all over again.

Any advise? Similar experiences ?

My biggest worry is how bad it spiked at the doctor, that’s terrifying ! Also, both parents have HTN, with my dad being diagnosed in 30s as well. Also still have some weight to lose. But doing well on that part.

AM Blood Cortisol High?

Anybody had a blood cortisol test come back a little high? I was extremely anxious morning of draw, as evident with my white coat hypertension that day. Google/reddit goes straight to Tumors as being the only explanation.

Elevated AM Cortisol, No Cushings?

Hello everybody. I am 25 year old male, obese (always have been), and recently discovered I was mildly hypertensive.

I knew hypertension was in my future, everyone in my family has it unfortunately. I am obese slightly, but also very active and can weight lift heavy. I have no other complaints besides anxiety, which I’ve always had. My build has remained the same, and I’ve lost 20 pounds recently due to 10k steps a day and CICO.

I finally went to the doctor to get on blood pressure meds, which is now easily controlled with a low dose medication. Anyways, he did a full blood panel and found my AM cortisol was 25 ug/dl. Everything on the internet says this is nothing but Cushings, cannot just be anxiety.

Also relevant, I have a newborn. Traumatic birth experience, not sleeping well, etc. The day of the blood draw, I had a panic attack because my blood pressure in office was way higher than expected. Literally 10-15 minutes later is when I had the blood draw.

My doctor thinks it’s just anxiety, and wants to repeat in a month.

Anybody else have this and it not he Cushings? Anything to ease my anxiety until repeat labs?
