Friendship ended, navigating remaining mutual friendship
My best friend A is a wonderful, kind, forgiving & generous person. Over 30+ years we had a mutual friendship with B.
Due to what I can only determine was jealousy, B stopped talking to me & greatly distanced herself from A. This went on for 9 months.
The 3 of us came back together for a wedding & all seemingly went well.
Sadly, coinciding with the wedding, B went through a few significant life events (it is important to note that these life events followed, did not precede the 9 months of estrangement).
I was supportive/caring & do feel badly for her, while mindful it doesn’t excuse past behaviors/hurts.
Since the wedding, B is back to not communicating with me. While A & B’s friendship is back to ‘normal’.
I have & continue to try to remain neutral re: their friendship, but I’m also struggling with feelings of betrayal & trying to figure out how to process these emotions.
What is going on??
Met a guy online & we seemingly hit it off great; we had numerous hours long phone conversations, daily texts & went on a couple dates (nothing physical happened other than goodbye hugs).
I didn’t exactly think he was ‘the one’ (just wasn’t all that attracted to him physically), but I really enjoyed him as a person.
Then, after a seemingly normal evening text exchange, he was gone. I sent him a second msg after a few days of silence & it was left on delivered, not read (he had read receipts on). This was so out of character for who I thought he was, I couldn’t help be concerned for his well being. All remained quiet!!
Thankfully, he’s fine. I know because we remained matched on the OLD site & out of curiosity I looked at his profile today. His pics have been updated. Yes, I unmatched.
I sorta get it, this is how OLD apparently works for many people; always looking for their next better match.
Yet to ghost a person you’ve spent weeks talking & opening up to just seems immature & cruel.
It just blows my mind that this is the 50+ dating world we’re in.
Edit; I appreciate the feedback, & a few helped me to self-reflect.
Just to clarify, whatever transpired seemed to be a mutual, evolving friendship not dating, so I wasn’t leading him on.
It’s because I perceived him as a friend that I struggle with the ghosting. Clearly, I see now, he wasn’t a friend.
