Trying to get the firmware update (the one required for a lot of HD-DVD discs) to no avail.

I apologize in advance if this isn't the right place for this/is overly rambley, but I'm sorta hitting a brick wall atm. Basically I got the 360 player since that seems to be the most readily available way to use this format in the modern day. Unfortunately it doesn't have the update(s?) required to play a lot of them, such as Blade Runner The Final Cut and 2001 A Space Odyssey (basically anything with a white pamphlet with the relevant disclaimer inside the case).

I've tried both the 360 S and PC methods of updating, though both haven't gotten anywhere, though for different reasons. My PC just says "No Firmware found" or "Most up-to-date firmware already" (not actually but just paraphrasing) whenever I try to do it that way. Though with my 360 it's a different story, when I put an update-required disc in, it will recognise that an update is needed... but well, I've got a separate unrelated issue where my console won't connect to the internet at all for some reason (not with Wifi, Ethernet directly, Ethernet into my laptop as a middle man, and my phone's hotspot just doesn't show up as an option).

So yeah this is mostly just a rant, sorry again about that, but also a question I want to pose is... would it be easier to find a way to get the updates on PC? As opposed to trading in my 360 S for one without busted internet.

I'd be really grateful if anyone could shed some light on an easier way for me. That, and I'm genuinely excited to start collecting for this format once I get this thing working, just such a neat piece of history and whatnot.

How would you feel about a DLC soft-adapting 'Farewell Beloved Falco'/Giving Colonel Shears an on-screen debut?

As the title implies, this is an idea that's been floating around in my head since I 100%'d the remake. It was great, but I'm hungry for more, and part of me is tantalized by the idea of a story DLC like that, comprised perhaps of 3-ish missions that explore a version of that manga's events.

In addition, also finally giving Colonel Shears the chance to finally be in an actual game, given how (at least in my opinion) he's a somewhat more interesting antagonist than Andross himself to an extent, the idea of a radicalized, turncoat Cornerian officer with his own agenda, lots of potential to tap into there.

Then of course, if Adventures and Assault remakes are something Velan is open to trying, such a DLC would tee up the former quite nicely. It's a bit of a longshot idea in general, but definitely curious to hear some thoughts! :).

The best kind of TV for Widescreen and PAL 60Hz on Gamecube?

As the title suggests, looking for a TV that'll essentially be the best possible match for the console. Using an HDMI converter on my modern flatscreen makes it look utterly hideous (the colour red especially like... 'melts' in a way).

And since it's also relevant to my main question, figure I'll also ask how often, roughly, do games support 60hz in the PAL region? From what it seems, not all of them do (Star Fox Assault, Rogue Squadron II and Geist appear to, at least).

Thanks in advance.

A Ranking of the Series (via Backloggd) now that the remake is out;

I loved it a lot, didn't QUITE manage to dethrone Assault for me, but the fact it was even a contender at all is commendable. Here's to the future of the series!
