(SPOILERS) What does the Lampfire Power Plant do?

Hi all, new player here. I’m doing the shipping warehouse area, and I just turned off the main power in the Lampfire power plant. Other than >!releasing the lockdown in the warehouse!<, and turning off all the lights and alarm dogs does it do anything else? Like open up any extra doors?

Or can I turn back on the powerplant once I >!release the lockdown and unlock the mirror in the panic room?!<

Galahad or Keepers?

My first time playing this. Who do I side with?

Galahad is an absolute nutjob, the Keeper Captain is wormy dude. What I wanna know is, what are the tangible rewards for siding with either side?

From what I’ve read from Google, siding with the Keepers let’s you join them in a some what “official” level? It also let’s you kill Galahad for his gear which is nice since I’m doing a heavy armour knight build.

Also siding with the Keepers makes some of the bandits stop spawning from what I’ve read? Which kinda sucks gameplay wise.

But I read that siding with the Keepers also makes Kamelot super suspicious of you? And it also locks you out of a bunch of quests?

Can someone give me the full run down on what are the tangible pros and cons of siding with either factions?

How does combat work?

So I bought Starsector years ago but I played very little of it back then. Now I’ve decided to give it a proper try and I just completed the tutorial.

I still dont fully understand how to “win” fights. I get the basics, space bar to pause, tab to open up the tactical map to see everything, left click and drag to select multiple ships, right click to order selected ships to attack enemy.

But how do I actually get good at combat? I only have 2 ships, most enemies have at least 3-5 ships in their fleet and I always get out numbered and die, and I never have enough supplies.

Can someone please share with me how do I properly do combat so I can actually put up a fight?

How do ranged weapon durability work?

Hey all, recently came back to play ABF to check out the new cosmic companions update. I recently did a test of all the ranged weapons in the game and I noticed something strange.

Despite having played ABF since the early access, one thing I could never understand was how durability for ranged weapons work? I noticed from my testing that some ranged weapons dont seem to degrade when used and only degrade when you die and respawn (unless you turn it off in your world settings), while some ranged weapons seem to degrade when used.

Specifically, the; Pipe/Lode pistol, Auto-10/Z-17 pistol, Grinder/Thresher, Magbow/Hypercross, Makeshift/Industrial/Lodestone crossbows, Quill Rifle, Rail rifle, Net Launcher, and all energy weapons DO NOT degrade when used.

So why is it that some guns degrade while others don’t unless you die? Initially I thought only crafted ranged weapons that dont use bullets dont degrade when used, but the Auto 10 and Z-17 pistols don’t seem do degrade even after shooting 300+ 9mm bullets. On top of that both the Scrap and Shredshot who both use the scrapshot ammo seem to degrade when being used.

So how exactly does durability work on ranged weapons in ABF?
