It's almost there, but it still has one problem!
The video explains everything. It's so close to working flawlessly but I still need a little help! Thanks in advance!

I've been posting my progress on this for a bit now. Today I cleaned the mode switch. Previously the mechanism was binding on the eject arm. Today. I took that apart again and found out that the post was not slotted into the cam gear properly. After fixing that, everything seemed to be fine. I was testing all the different functions and when I did Stop > Rewind for the fast rewind, It rewound until the end of the tape, and kept trying to rewind more. Then the TV shut off, and now when I turn it back on it keeps trying to rewind, but the screen displays "eject".
This is my first time working on a VCR. I didn't know what a mode switch was until a couple of days ago. I was just curious how bad this was compared to what others have seen, and how well it cleaned up. Thanks!
I'm new and I made what seems to be a rookie mistake and ordered from a 3rd party Walmart seller. I noticed that the krakens sticker has a blue/green banner behind him where the package shows it as pink.
My post from last night has a video explaining everything. Well today I've freed everything up and I can operate the entire mechanism by hand, by slowly rotating the motor pulley with my fingers. However, when I plug it all back in, it's like the VCR thinks that "center" is in the wrong spot and it keeps trying to do what you see in this video. Can someone help? Thanks in advance!
I've made a couple posts on r/VHS, and I figured I would make my newest one here.
This is a 9" Sylvania VCR TV combo, with a VCR manufactured by Funai, and built in 1998.
I picked it up yesterday, and the TV worked fine. Popped in a VHS, and it spat it back out. Popped it in again, spat it back out. Popped it in a third time, and it got stuck, tried to eject it for about 5 seconds, and then shut the whole TV off. Turned it back on, stuck on eject again, 5 seconds later it shuts off again.
Today I broke it open, discharged the tube, and successfully got the tape out in one piece, reset the mechanism to its neutral position, but still no luck. Even with the VHS out, it still turns on, tries to eject, fails, and turns off. I've worked on CRTs before, but never a VHS. I need help, I feel like I've tried everything I can to the extent of my knowledge. I'm starting to think it's a mode switch, but at the same time, part of the mechanism seems seized. Could it be both? I need help, thanks in advance!
I love the style, metal body, and literally everything about the TCM-450. The only downside is that it only plays back in mono. Is there something out there just like the TCM-450 that's meant for music?
Am I decoding the serial no. correctly?
I grew up with cassette but am somewhat new to it as a hobby and don't really know what to look for. Thanks!
I have my PC hooked up to a monitor and my TV. I use the TV for gaming so I can chill on the couch, but the sound still comes out of the computer desk speakers behind me. Is there any way to switch the sound over to the TV when I'm using it?
My current set up is PC>HDMI splitter (1in2out)>HDMIs to monitor and TV from splitter
I have an FMS setup that I would like to do 100% throttle forwards and backwards. Right now it only does 100% forwards and 50% backwards. Switching the throttle reverse switch only reverses the trigger direction, and so it still does 100% and 50% throttle in the same directions as before. Switching the wires within the assembly will change it to 100% backwards and 50% forwards throttle. Is there any way I can achieve 100% forwards AND 100% backwards throttle with this setup? Thanks!
