How do you think Singapore will be like in another 20 years time?

I was just doing some math, and realised that, Singapore has 6.11 millions in population, of which, only 3.66 millions are Singaporeans. The rest are PRs and non-residents.

That translate to 59.9% of Authentic Singaporeans. That means in every 10 people you see in public, only 6 are Singaporeans.

Then I went to check the fertility rate, which stands at 0.87 in 2025. It means Singaporeans are giving birth to less!

More Singaporeans die, less Singaporeans born, that equation naturally mean a decline in the numbers of Singaporeans over time. With lesser population, we will be forced to import more. And with more importation, the % Authentic Singaporean is gonna drop.

With a combination of these factors, I forsee the number of Singaporeans in Singapore will get lesser and lesser, and we might just becomes less of a nation, but more of a combi-nation. Will we get to a point where, in every 10 people, only 4 are Singaporeans?

After driving for a while, here are my thoughts.

Please kindly help to upvote if you agree and hopefully, i'd, or rather, we'd eventually be able to spread this driving culture to the whole of Singapore. Just like how Singaporean miraculously started queuing up at MRT Platform while waiting for the Train.

  1. Upon entering a carpark, please turn on the headlights especially if the carpark is darkly litted. It helps create awareness of your presence. There were times I almost had a head-on collision with someone going up the ram while im going down the ram or vice-versa.
  2. When driving on Lane 1, whenever possible, give way to the car behind if the car behind is travelling faster than you are. All you need to do is to filter left, then filter right again. Of course, this is only applicable during light traffic conditions. During heavy traffic conditions, it's 1-for-All, All-for-1, COE COE number 1. Everyone just be patience together.
  3. If you are familiar with the road and approaching a lane that only turns right, signal right early so the car behind you can start planning for alternative. If the car behind meant to turn right, your right signal won't bother him. But if the car plan to go straight, your right signal can allow him to filter left and continue his straight-ahead route.
  4. If you are travelling at the left most lane and plan to turn left into your office, carpark or wherever, please signal left EARLY. I've seen some ass driving super fast, only to come to a sudden stop just to turn left, and the car behind it had to break so hard.
  5. On the highway, if you are on the slowest lane, learn to synchronise with vehicle on the slip-road entering the highway by coordinating your speed with theirs. I understand that the vehicle on the highway has the "right-of-way", but the "right-of-way" does not necessarily mean the most efficient way for everybody. You as a driver will definitely be in both situation. You'll be the car on slowest lane of highway, you will also be the car attempting to enter the highway. So if we can have such a culture, it'll benefit you as well. Synchronise your speed, leave gaps, and the traffic will flow seamlessly.
  6. If you are on the right most lane, and gonna do a U-turn, please turn on your right signal, so the car behind you can be slower when driving off.
  7. If you are on turn-right only lanes, and you are the last car in position, turn on your right signal, so that cars that are far away and behind you gain awareness.
  8. If someone wants to overtake you, let them overtake you. No prize in preventing him from overtaking.
  9. Occassionally, I help to enlarge the yellow-box. So to facilitate drivers to get into the other lane more easily. Example a road with 2 lanes. Yellow box only on Lane 2 for drivers to turn out. Even though I am on Lane 1, I'll still stop way behind the car in front of me, creating a "Imaginary Yellow Box". That is how I enlarge the yellow-box. It helps driver to easily get into my Lane if they want to.
  10. Turn off your headlight as soon as you are parked. So it doesn't shine right into the eyes of drivers entering or leaving the carpark, or shining into people's house.
  11. And finally, have the habit of saying Thank You by blinking your hazard light twice. In return, if you witness someone saying thank you to you, you can choose to high-beam twice to say you're welcome. (Oh, I learnt this from a SBS Bus driver who gave way to me, because I was stuck for so damn long at a T-shape road. I on my hazard light twice to say 'Thank You' and he high-beamed me twice acknowledging my thanks. I suppose he's saying "You're welcome".)

Monkey-see. Monkey-do.

As long as we keep practicing these good habits, eventually everyone will be doing the same. We all just need to start right now!

Please feel free to add your pointers and share with me/everyone!

Add-ons:

u/bitter-elephant-5783: Slow down when driving at carpark. Young kids leaving parents vehicle may just dash out from nowhere!

u/larksauncle: Wait for cars that are parking to fully reverse back in before moving across them. It is rude to squeeze through gaps.

u/KluelessKoder: When at malls carpark, turn on your headlight only when u are about to move off so people can know how to react with regards to your parking lot.

u/deathk4t: Follow the speed range of each lane. Left most lane are for lorries and big vehicles. 60kmh. Fast vehicle please go right. Vehicle on the right, give way to vehicle even faster than you.

u/trenzterra: Signal early but appropriately. Only signal left if you are turning left at the very next immediate junction. If you are turning left only at the next next junction/road opening, signal only after you pass the current junction.

u/ButterGeneric: Treat motorcycle like a car and do not try to force them out of the lane.

Edits:

BONUS: Oh yeah, and also a bonus experience that I've got and wanna share in hope to prevent future accident. I am pretty sure this is something that not many knows about. You don't see this in BTT/FTT or even instructor telling you.

Here it goes: Every once in a while you'll encounter driver that almost brought you into accident. I've drove for about 3-4 years now and I encountered this around 3-4 times. When you encounter such a driver, please reposition yourself away from this particular driver. Now, note that this particular driver may not neccessarily be a asshole driver. He can be a perfectly normal driver and yet still almost get into accident with you. And what is the cause of accident? The difference in both your interpretation.

Let me give you an example that I encountered just last week. Travelling from PIE (towards Changi), it was heavy traffic. I was on Lane 1. There was the Spring Effect. Cars were moving slow. Black van ahead of me. Almost banged into him thrice. Why? Driver has the habit of accelerating and then breaking real late and real hard. (Maybe his brakes are brand new, idk) Whereas I also have the habit of accelerating but breaking soft and gently. So you see the mismatch?

In the end I filter left, let other cars cut in front of me, and filter back to the right. I traded being ahead with being safe.

So if u encounter such driver, quickly re-position to other vehicle and you'd be safe!

Any smart one here?

I am just wondering, for T-Bills, given that the interest rate is 1+%, why are there still like billions of dollar buying them? pretty sure they are not retail investor since there are better rates elsewhere? so who is buying them? and why are they buying them since there are better rates elsewhere?

MASK, i bet it's gonna fly soon.

Been observing this stock for a while. i bet it is gonna fly before july ends.

I've observe how the stock has been accumulated. And there are not much sellers left.

It is currently flattening quietly and going sideways.

Without sellers, there are only 2 ways the stock can go
(1) Sideways
(2) Upwards

Hence, how do we know that the stocks will go upwards and not side ways? That's when you look to zoom into daily chart and look at the pre-post-market activity. You can tell that there are background attempts in pushing the stock on 23rd June and 25th June.

Not financial advice.

I strongly believe MASK is under quiet accumulation.

Price has went from a low of $1.27 to a recent high of $7.08. Almost 500% returns.

Usually, I would expect such play to quickly fizzy out, and having the price to crash back onto the ground shortly after.

However, it seems like the price is refusing to come back down, which led to my conclusion that it is under accumulation.

Base on research, MASK - 3E Network Technology has Data Center Operation & AI Infrastruture under their busines sportfolio. I think the AI part could be the reason for such accumulation.

Mask

Anybody caught MASK for the day?

Is it currently going through the beginning of a short squeeze or what?
Is short interest of 10% considered high?
