AITA for telling my sister she's a "helicopter mom"?

My sister has a 5-year-old son. She's always been an anxious parent. But lately it's gotten worse. She hovers over him constantly. She won't let him run in the park or climb anything. She even follows him into the bathroom at family gatherings.

Last weekend we were at my parents' house for a cookout. My nephew was playing with his cousins. He tripped and scraped his knee. Nothing bad, just a little red mark. My sister freaked out. She scooped him up and said "I knew this would happen."

I said "he's fine. It's just a scrape. You need to relax a little."

She snapped at me. She said "you don't have kids. You don't understand."

I said "I don't have kids but I can see you're hovering. You're going to make him anxious. You need to let him be a kid."

She got upset and said I was judging her parenting. She barely spoke to me the rest of the day.

Now my mom is mad too. She says I overstepped.

I was just trying to help. AITA?
