I’ve had her since late August, waiting for the bug larvae to become pupae. I want to get to the worker stage before hibernation. But since Myrmecinaes hibernate from body temp and not bio-clocks like my Lasius do, I might be able to skip hibernation for this year.
Been thinking about this, Sukuna isn’t a cursed spirit so the label technically doesn’t fit well in terms of definitions. It seems pretty obvious that Jogo is the strongest Cursed Spirit we’ve ever seen, maybe in fact stronger than Rika, who Geto called the queen of curses.
What do you think? Does he deserve this title?
This wasp parasitises 3rd instar blowfly maggots, the adult wasps then emerge out of the hollow fly pupa. in the latter half of the video, it lays eggs inside one of the maggots, specifically a large 3rd instar one, ignoring the 1st an 2nd instar maggots.

My favourite species, 3 out of my 5 colonies are at the biological worker stage, never thought I’d come this far with this species.

For context I am an atheist/antitheist, who is quite left wing socially and centre right economically. Was not expecting this, it was going perfect, th fist biological worker had hatched, Lasius niger hosts were fine, then I found her dead today during my regular checkups, she was absolutely fine last night during feeding.
She lasted 11 months, could’ve been 11 years tbh.
Rest easy, you absolute legend! You managed to get to the biological worker stage which less than 100 people have ever done ever in captivity.
She will be placed on salt and then hopefully isopropyl alcohol.

For those who don’t know, Lasius Umbratus is a parasitic species that takes over Lasius niger nests because the queen cannot independently found.
