SUPER TOAST Fruity Passion Infused Pre-Roll Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This product was sampled to me. Same honesty either way.

Fruity Passion opened with a pleasant passion fruit aroma that carried into the dry pull and had me expecting a bright tropical flavour.

The first few puffs delivered more flavour than I found in some other botanical infused pre-rolls. While the passion fruit came through initially, it gradually shifted toward a waxy botanical taste that never completely disappeared. It wasn't unpleasant, but it also didn't taste as natural as I was hoping.

The pre-roll burned well from start to finish with a light ash and no construction issues. It stayed lit, drew consistently, and never gave me a reason to think about anything other than the flavour.

The effects came on quickly and had plenty of intensity. I had no trouble feeling the THC, but I found it difficult to pick out much personality beyond the diamonds. It delivered a strong high, although it lacked the nuance that I usually look for in an infused pre-roll.

About the brand:

SUPER TOAST is a cannabis brand from Pure Sunfarms focused on convenient, ready-to-use cannabis products. The lineup includes flower, pre-rolls, infused products, and vape formats designed to be approachable and affordable.

About the producer/company:

SUPER TOAST is produced by Pure Sunfarms, a British Columbia licensed producer and wholly owned subsidiary of Village Farms International. Pure Sunfarms cultivates, processes, and packages its products in-house.

My score: 6.5/10

Cannabis is subjective, so your experience may be different. If your priority is a strong, fast-hitting infused pre-roll and you don't mind botanical flavouring, I could see you rating this one even higher.

House of Smoke PBNJ Pre-Rolls Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Vince from House of Smoke and Mirrors shared these with me while we were hanging out. Same honesty either way.

I forgot to check the aroma before lighting this one, so I went back to it afterward. The nose has a sweet, earthy profile with the myrcene coming through a little more than it did in the smoke. The dry pull brought everything together with sweet earth, peppery spice, and a touch of sweetness that had me looking forward to the next pre-roll.

The first few puffs were smooth with the caryophyllene showing itself right away. The flavour wasn't especially loud, but it was balanced and enjoyable. There was enough spice to keep it interesting without overpowering everything else.

The burn was one of the better parts of the experience. The ash stayed very light from start to finish, a thick resin ring developed early, and the pre-roll burned evenly without needing any touch-ups or relights. Construction is something I pay attention to, and this one delivered.

The flavour held together well past the halfway point. It never exploded with intensity, but it stayed pleasant and consistent instead of fading away early. By the final third it had picked up that familiar "I've smoked a whole joint" flavour, but it never became harsh. I finished the entire pre-roll because I was still enjoying it.

The effects took a little while to settle in. Once they did, they brought on a calm, foggy feeling that helped quiet my mind and take the edge off my anxiety. It wasn't a heavy couch-lock stone. It was more of a relaxed, content feeling that made it easy to slow down and leave the day behind.

About the brand:

House of Smoke and Mirrors is an employee-owned independent cannabis retailer in Calgary. Alongside a carefully curated menu, the store also offers its own private-label cannabis products.

About the producer/company:

PBNJ is produced by Grass Monkeys exclusively for House of Smoke and Mirrors. Grass Monkeys is an Alberta licensed producer that produces craft cannabis and collaborates on select private-label products, including this one.

My score: 8.3/10

Cannabis is subjective, so your experience may be different. If burn quality, smooth smoke, and calming effects matter more to you than loud terpenes, this could easily score higher in your rotation.

Tribal Gran Turismo Pre-Rolls Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. These were given to me at our store closing BBQ. Same honesty either way.

My nose wasn't cooperating during this session, so I couldn't give the aroma or dry pull a fair evaluation. That's on me, not the product, so I won't judge it on something I couldn't properly experience.

The first few puffs were smooth with a pleasant gassy character right away. A resin ring started forming early, and the flavour came through cleanly from the start. The ash was a little darker than I'd ideally like to see, but it was noticeably lighter than many pre-rolls I've smoked and never caused any burn issues.

By the halfway point a sweet cherry note started coming through that rounded out the smoke nicely. The resin ring continued to build, the smoke had some body without becoming harsh, and the flavour held together well instead of fading away.

The effects built gradually. It started with a relaxed feeling and that familiar squinty-eyed sensation before settling into a heavier, calming stone by the end. The smoke itself wasn't particularly nostalgic, but the high brought me back to simpler times. That's not something I experience very often, and it ended up being my favourite part of the session.

I smoked this one right to the end because I was still enjoying it. The flavour stayed consistent, the construction never let me down, and the effects finished exactly where I wanted them to.

About the brand:

Tribal is Cannara Biotech's premium cannabis brand, focused on terpene-rich indoor flower, pre-rolls, concentrates, and vape products. The brand emphasizes rare genetics, hang drying, slow curing, hand trimming, and whole-flower pre-rolls.

About the producer/company:

Cannara Biotech is a Québec licensed producer that grows, processes, and packages Tribal products in-house. Tribal pre-rolls are made using whole flower that is consistently ground and rolled into premium RAW cones rather than trim or shake.

My score: 8.6/10

Cannabis is subjective, so your experience may be different. If smooth, relaxing effects, dependable construction, and a flavour profile that stays enjoyable all the way through matter more to you than an overpowering terpene profile, I could see you rating this one even higher.

SUPER TOAST Razz Pizazz Infused Pre-Roll Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This product was sampled to me. Same honesty either way.

Razz Pizazz started with one of the more interesting aromas I've found in a flavoured infused pre-roll. The nose had a sweet raspberry scent with an almost incense-like character that carried into the dry pull and had me expecting a bold berry flavour.

That changed almost immediately after lighting it.

The raspberry disappeared quickly and gave way to a waxy botanical flavour that stayed with me for most of the session. It wasn't terrible, but it never delivered on what the aroma suggested. After a while it even started giving me a bit of heartburn, which made the flavour harder to enjoy.

The burn itself was respectable. The ash was on the darker side, but the pre-roll stayed lit, burned evenly, and carried me well past the halfway point without any construction issues.

The effects came on quickly and were driven mostly by the diamonds. I had no trouble feeling the THC, but I struggled to find much personality beyond that. It was a straightforward, fast-hitting high that got the job done without leaving much of an impression afterward.

By the time I reached the last third, I was satisfied with the effects but still wishing the flavour had lived up to the aroma.

About the brand:

SUPER TOAST is a brand from Pure Sunfarms focused on convenient, ready-to-use cannabis products. The lineup includes milled flower, pre-rolls, infused products, and vape formats designed for consumers looking for straightforward, ready-to-go options.

About the producer/company:

Pure Sunfarms is a British Columbia licensed producer and a wholly owned subsidiary of Village Farms International. The company cultivates, processes, and packages cannabis in-house and produces the Pure Sunfarms, Fraser Valley Weed Co., Soar, Nowadays, and SUPER TOAST brands.

My score: 6.1/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you're looking for a fast-hitting infused pre-roll and flavour isn't your main priority, this may still be worth trying. If you're chasing an authentic raspberry flavour, you may come away wanting a little more.

JOI Botanicals Mojito Cookies Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This sample was provided directly by the grower. It wasn't supplied in retail packaging, so I can't comment on package weight, lot consistency, or a packed on date. Same honesty either way.

Mojito Cookies made a great first impression. The buds were dense, frosty, and nicely trimmed. As soon as I cracked the jar I picked up a sweet mint aroma with bright citrus behind it. Grinding the flower made those aromas even louder.

Rolled in Gizeh Green papers as usual.

The dry pull carried that same mint and citrus profile, and I was happy to find it followed through into the smoke. The citrus came through clearly while the cookie genetics added a little sweetness and body without overwhelming the flavour.

A resin ring started forming within the first few puffs and continued to build throughout the session. The smoke was dense but never became harsh. The ash wasn't the lightest I've seen, although the inside of the burn stayed much cleaner than the outside suggested.

The effects showed up early. By the halfway point I was already looking around for something to do. This wasn't the kind of flower that leaves me sinking into the couch. It delivered a bright, uplifting head high that almost became distracting because my mind kept jumping from one idea to the next. I could see myself reaching for this before going for a walk, working in the yard, or spending the afternoon outside.

The smoothness held right to the end. By the last third I was already as high as I wanted to be, but the joint was still burning cleanly enough that I had no problem finishing it.

About the brand:

JOI Botanicals is a Canadian micro cultivator focused on small batch craft cannabis with an emphasis on careful cultivation and post harvest handling.

About the producer/company:

JOI Botanicals cultivates and processes its own cannabis, allowing the company to maintain quality control from harvest through packaging.

My score: 8.9/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you enjoy bright citrus flavours, a smooth smoke, and an uplifting cerebral high that keeps you engaged instead of weighing you down, I think Mojito Cookies is well worth trying.

Pure Sunfarms Purple Fog Flower Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This product was sampled to me. Same honesty either way.

Purple Fog made a solid first impression. The buds had decent bag appeal with a nice mix of greens and a healthy coating of trichomes. Breaking it up released a floral aroma with a bit of spice that carried nicely into the smoke.

The first half of the joint was pleasant enough. The flavour leaned toward floral and earthy with a touch of spice. It wasn't particularly loud or complex, but it was enjoyable enough to keep me interested. The smoke was better than the ash suggested. While the ash burned on the darker side and had a slightly cakey appearance, it stayed reasonably smooth and never became unpleasant. I didn't see much of a resin ring developing either.

The effects settled in gradually with a relaxing, easygoing high that stopped short of becoming overly sedating. It was the kind of smoke I could enjoy without feeling glued to the couch, but it also didn't have a lot of personality that made it stand out from the crowd.

The second half needed a little more attention. It didn't always want to stay lit on its own, and I found myself giving it a few extra pulls to keep it burning evenly. That took away from what had otherwise been a straightforward smoking experience.

Purple Fog isn't a flower I found myself getting excited about, but I also don't have much to complain about. It smoked reasonably well, delivered a pleasant high, and did what it set out to do without leaving a lasting impression.

My score: 6.7/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you're looking for a simple, relaxing flower that smokes well enough without expecting standout flavour or memorable effects, this may be worth a try.

SUPER TOAST Grapescape Infused Pre-Roll Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This product was sampled to me. Same honesty either way.

Grapescape opens with a recognizable grape aroma that immediately reminded me of grape candy. The dry pull carried that same sweet profile and had me expecting a flavour-forward smoke.

Once lit, the grape flavour came through better than I expected. A waxy botanical terpene profile gradually became more noticeable as the joint burned, but the grape character stayed present for much of the session and did a respectable job of carrying the flavour.

The joint burned evenly with a light ash and smoked consistently from start to finish. Construction wasn't an issue, and I had no trouble finishing this one in a single session.

The effects arrived quickly with the fast-hitting intensity you'd expect from an infused pre-roll. The high came on almost immediately, producing a strong cerebral buzz that peaked early before gradually tapering off. It was potent enough to satisfy, but I found it lacked much nuance or progression beyond that initial rush.

Overall, Grapescape delivered a solid infused pre-roll experience. The grape flavour translated better than many botanical terpene products I've tried, the burn quality was reliable, and the effects did exactly what they set out to do.

My score: 6.7/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you enjoy flavour-forward infused pre-rolls and you're looking for a quick, potent session rather than a long, layered high, Grapescape may be worth checking out.

Joi Botanicals – Orange Kush Cake Review

Joi Botanicals – Orange Kush Cake Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This sample was provided directly by the grower. It wasn't supplied in retail packaging, so I can't comment on package weight, lot consistency, or a packed-on date. Same honesty either way.

Some cultivars tell you exactly what they're going to be from the moment you open them.

Orange Kush Cake did exactly that.

The sample arrived exceptionally fresh. The nose immediately delivered bright orange and fruity notes backed by a distinct kush character. Breaking it up released even more citrus, while the dry pull carried a sweet orange flavour that had me looking forward to lighting it.

The flavour translated almost perfectly into the smoke. Orange was front and centre from the first puff, supported by a dense kush backbone that gave the smoke some real weight. A resin ring appeared within the first few draws and continued to build throughout the session, while the joint burned slowly and evenly.

The ash burned a little darker than ideal and the smoke itself was noticeably heavy. Not harsh, just dense. This felt like a kush-forward cultivar doing exactly what a kush-forward cultivar is expected to do.

The effects arrived quickly. Early on there was a noticeable tug behind the eyes accompanied by a bright, vibrant head high. As the session progressed, the body effects became more pronounced. What started as an uplifting citrus-forward experience gradually settled into a heavier, deeply relaxing stone while still allowing me to remain functional and engaged.

By the halfway point I found myself asking whether I really needed to finish the joint. Not because the smoke had become unpleasant, but because the flower had already accomplished what I wanted it to. The combination of the dense smoke and increasingly heavy body effects made putting it down feel like the right decision.

What impressed me most was how well the flavour carried through the session. The orange notes weren't just present in the aroma; they remained clear and identifiable in the smoke. That's something a lot of citrus-forward cultivars promise but don't always deliver.

About the brand: Joi Botanicals is a micro-cultivator focused on small-batch craft cannabis with an emphasis on hand-trimming, careful curing, and preserving the character of each cultivar.

About the producer/company: Joi Botanicals grows and processes its own cannabis, maintaining control from cultivation through packaging.

Overall, Orange Kush Cake delivered exactly what the name promised: bright citrus, sweet kush undertones, strong early effects, and a satisfying body stone. The flavour remained clear in the smoke, the effects arrived quickly, and by the halfway point I was already where I wanted to be. While the smoke carried a little more weight than some consumers may prefer, the flower never stopped being enjoyable.

My score: 8.8/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you enjoy citrus-forward flower with a heavier kush backbone, flavour that actually translates into the smoke, and effects that arrive early before settling into a relaxing but functional stone, you may end up rating this even higher than I did.

SUPER TOAST – Lemon Drip Infused Pre-Roll Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This product was sampled to me. Same honesty either way.

Lemon Drip opens with a recognizable lemon profile, but this isn't the bright citrus candy experience the name might suggest.

From the first few puffs, the flavour leaned heavily into a waxy botanical terpene profile with lemon sitting in the background. The citrus was present throughout the session, but it never really developed into anything particularly vibrant or memorable.

The joint burned reasonably well and produced a light ash, continuing a trend I've seen from many infused products where construction is rarely the issue.

The effects arrived quickly and hit with the familiar intensity often associated with diamonds-heavy products. The high was noticeable, but fairly generic. While this product is marketed as a sativa, I struggled to identify much that separated the experience from many infused products marketed under different effect categories. It got me high, but it didn't give me a particularly clear reason to classify the experience beyond that.

The smoke itself felt rougher than I would have liked and by the halfway point I wasn't especially motivated to finish it in a single sitting. Not because it was unbearable, but because neither the flavour nor the effects gave me much reason to keep going.

Overall, Lemon Drip delivered exactly what many consumers expect from a modern infused pre-roll: fast onset, noticeable potency, and added flavour. Unfortunately, the flavour felt more botanical than lemon, and the effects never developed much personality beyond the initial rush.

My score: 6.0/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. Consumers looking for a quick-hitting infused pre-roll may find value here, but those chasing a distinctive lemon flavour or a clearly defined sativa experience may come away wanting more.

Does Your Cannabis Retailer Have Your Back When Things Go Wrong?

I've seen quite a few situations lately where customers end up with a faulty cart, dried-out flower, leaking hardware, or some other clearly defective product and get told there isn't much that can be done.

I'm curious what everyone's expectations are here.

What should a retailer do when a product is obviously defective?

Does your current shop have a return policy that gives you confidence when you buy something? Is that something you even think about before making a purchase?

Do stories from friends, Reddit, or the community influence where you choose to shop? Have you ever avoided a retailer because of how they handled customer issues? Have you ever become a loyal customer because a shop went above and beyond to make something right?

I'd love to hear both what your local shop does today and what you think retailers should be doing when things go wrong.

Good stories, bad stories, expectations, let's hear them.

Joi Botanicals – Jet Fuel Funk Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This sample was provided directly by the grower. The quantity provided was not a retail package, so I can't comment on package fill, packaged-on date information, or consistency between production lots. Same honesty either way.

Some flowers get your attention before they're even lit.

Jet Fuel Funk was one of those.

Opening the sample released a savoury earthy gas that immediately stood out. Breaking it up brought even more of that character forward, and the dry pull delivered exactly what I was hoping for: heavy gas, funk, and enough depth that I was genuinely excited to light it.

The smoke started with sweet cakey notes before transitioning into a rich gassy profile. The flavour translated exceptionally well from the dry pull and remained enjoyable throughout the session. A medium-light ash formed alongside a defined resin ring that continued to build as the joint burned.

By the halfway point the resin ring had become thick and dark, almost resembling what you'd expect from an infused product. What impressed me most was that despite the density of the smoke and the amount of resin being produced, it never became harsh. The smoke stayed smooth and enjoyable from start to finish.

The effects arrived well before the halfway mark. Relaxing and deeply satisfying without becoming overwhelmingly sedative, Jet Fuel Funk delivered a balanced experience that combined a comfortable body stone with enough cerebral activity to keep things interesting. After a long day, it hit exactly where I wanted it to.

What really stood out was the cultivation quality. The hand-trimmed finish is obvious. The cure feels dialed in. The flavours remain expressive. Nothing about it feels rushed or mass-produced. This is the kind of flower that reminds you why small-batch craft cannabis still has a place in a market increasingly focused on THC percentages.

As I neared the end of the joint, the flavour became slightly muddied by the accumulated resin, but the smoke remained every bit as smooth as it was at the beginning. That's a rare accomplishment.

About the brand: Joi Botanicals is a micro-cultivator focused on small-batch flower with an emphasis on careful cultivation, curing, and post-harvest handling rather than chasing hype or inflated numbers.

About the producer/company: Joi Botanicals grows and processes its own cannabis, allowing close control over cultivation and quality from harvest through packaging.

Overall, this felt like a flower that backed up its presentation with execution. The aroma, flavour, burn quality, smoothness, and effects all worked together to create a genuinely enjoyable smoking experience.

My score: 9.0/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. Based on this sample, Jet Fuel Funk delivered one of the more complete flower experiences I've had in recent months.

Pure Sunfarms Pink Kush 10x0.35g Pre-Rolls – Follow-Up Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This was sampled to me. Same honesty either way.

A while back I had a positive experience with the Pink Kush found in Pure Sunfarms' West Coast Duo. This time around I was sampled a tin of their Pink Kush 10x0.35g pre-rolls and after working my way through more than half the package, I've come away with a very different impression.

The format itself remains one of my favourites in legal cannabis. Ten 0.35g pre-rolls in a reusable tin just makes sense. They're easy to bring along, easy to finish in one sitting, and don't leave you committed to a full gram every time you want a quick smoke.

Unfortunately, the flower inside this particular tin didn't live up to the format.

After smoking more than half the package, every pre-roll has shown the same issues. Black ash, a hot tingly smoke, and a lingering tarry aftertaste that builds throughout the session. By the halfway point of most joints, they're almost fighting to stay lit. I found myself taking repeated heater puffs just to keep them burning, which only seemed to make the unpleasant flavours more noticeable.

The nose was fairly muted and the flavour never really developed into anything that reminded me why Pink Kush became such a staple strain in Canada. Whatever Pink Kush character was present felt buried beneath the rough smoking experience.

Effects were relaxing enough, but they never became strong or nuanced enough to justify the effort required to finish the joint. I can forgive mediocre flavour if the effects are exceptional. I can forgive average effects if the smoke is enjoyable. This batch never really delivered either.

One thing that surprised me was how much this batch lagged behind previous Pink Kush experiences I've had from Pure Sunfarms. The Pink Kush in the West Coast Duo reminded me why the cultivar became such a Canadian staple. This tin never really captured the same flavour, smoke quality, or overall enjoyment.

The fact that I've smoked more than half the tin isn't an endorsement. It's evidence that the problems were consistent.

About the brand: Pure Sunfarms has built a reputation as one of Canada's largest cannabis producers, focusing on consistent, approachable products that deliver value across multiple categories.

About the producer/company: Pure Sunfarms operates large-scale greenhouse cultivation in British Columbia and has become one of the most recognizable names in Canadian legal cannabis through broad availability and competitive pricing.

Overall, the format remains one of the smartest ideas in legal cannabis. The batch does not.

My score: 5.8/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. Batch variation exists, and your experience may differ from mine.

🌅❤️So Long, But Not Farewell! ❤️🌅

To our wonderful community from Ramsay and Inglewood to the edges of Alberta,

After a great deal of discussion and consideration, we have made the difficult decision that Upstairs Cannabis will not be continuing at our current location when our lease ends.

Our final day of operation will be this Friday June 19, 2026. However, we still plan to celebrate our appreciation with the community at the picnic tables outside the store on Sunday June 28th, from 1pm-6pm.

It was a hard decision to close the doors on a thriving business. Thanks to this community, we continued to grow month after month right until the end. The support from our customers, neighbours, and fellow local businesses has meant everything to us. You helped turn a small independent cannabis shop into something truly special.

The timeline moved far faster than we ever expected, and we wish we could have given our neighbours, and friends more time to prepare for this change. Over the past several months, we explored every possible path forward. In the end, a combination of rising operating pressures, lack of meaningful investment into the property, and uncertainty surrounding the long term future of the space made it difficult to justify continuing here. As many of you know, we are also preparing to welcome a baby later this year, and that naturally changes how we look at risk, stability, and the future.

One of the hardest parts of this decision is knowing how much potential this location and community still have. Ramsay and Inglewood are filled with incredible people who genuinely support local businesses. Unfortunately, it is becoming harder for independent operators to survive when redevelopment speculation and unrealistic property expectations begin to outweigh the importance of maintaining affordable, functional spaces for the businesses already serving the neighbourhood.

Too often, small businesses are expected to carry the weight of neglected properties while being treated as temporary placeholders until a developer eventually arrives. That reality is slowly changing the character of neighbourhoods that were built by independent businesses and the communities supporting them.

We built Upstairs Cannabis to feel welcoming, independent, and community focused. Whether you visited us in person, ordered delivery, followed our reviews online, recommended us to a friend, or simply supported independent cannabis retail in Alberta, you became part of what made this place special.

We are incredibly proud of what we built here since opening in 2020. Every purchase, recommendation, conversation, and kind word helped keep this dream alive and growing for far longer than we could have managed on our own. We couldn’t have come this far without your support. We love this community and this industry and we will find a new way to stay involved. For now we look forward to spending some quality time together as we begin our next adventure as new parents.

Although the storefront may be closing, we are not disappearing completely. We will be keeping our phone number, 825-431-3357, active online and will continue checking messages daily. Feel free to call or text us anytime. We may not always have all the answers, but we will always appreciate hearing from the community that helped build this business.

This is not the ending we originally imagined, but we are leaving grateful for the experience, proud of what we created, and hopeful that Alberta continues to leave room for independent businesses and the people behind them.

Thank you for supporting local, and thank you for supporting us.

Uncommon Cannabis Co. Cream Machine Pre-Roll Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This was sampled to me and clearly marked "not intended for sale / educational purposes only." Same honesty either way.

This one came in with a pretty fresh pack date of March 12, 2026, so age or excessive dryness really shouldn’t be the excuse here.

Uncommon Cannabis Co. leans heavily into small-batch indoor flower, curated craft growers, and non-irradiated cannabis. That's a pretty high bar to set for yourself, and naturally it raises expectations before the joint is even lit.

Right away the nose had a bit of cream to it with some light sweetness underneath, but it never really developed into anything especially loud or memorable. Based on the name and the marketing, I was expecting a little more character out of the gate.

The first few pulls were reasonably pleasant, but by the halfway point it became pretty clear this was going to leave behind a lingering heavy tarry smoke taste that just kept building in the mouth.

The smoke itself felt thick on the tongue in a way that stopped being enjoyable fairly quickly. Not much flavour translation beyond the initial cream note either. Mostly just dense lingering smoke without much terp expression keeping things interesting.

Combustion also started becoming frustrating as the session went on. The joint struggled to stay lit if I wasn’t actively pulling on it, but at the same time the smoke quality wasn’t pleasant enough to make me want to keep hauling on it constantly just to maintain the burn.

The ash burned fairly dark and uneven, with visible resin saturation into the paper by the halfway point.

Effects were the strongest part of the experience for me. Nice relaxing sedated lean starting to settle in midway through the joint. Eyes getting heavy, slower pace, and a fairly classic indica-style unwind without becoming overwhelming.

The problem is that effects alone usually aren’t enough to save a smoke for me when the flavour and combustion side feel this rough.

About the brand: Uncommon Cannabis Co. markets itself around small-batch indoor flower, non-irradiated cannabis, curated craft growers, and a more quality-focused alternative to large-scale corporate cannabis production.

About the producer/company: Simply Solventless Concentrates recently acquired the Uncommon Cannabis Co. brand as part of its expanding recreational cannabis portfolio. SSC has built much of its reputation around concentrates and solventless products within the Canadian market.

Overall this felt like a product with stronger branding and positioning than actual smoking experience.

The effects were better than the smoke. Unfortunately, I have to smoke the product to get the effects.

My score: 6.0/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you prioritize heavier sedating effects more than flavour expression and combustion quality, you may end up rating this higher than I did.

Thumbs Up Indica Pre-Rolls (Glitter Bomb) Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This one was purchased from my own inventory. Same honesty either way.

One thing worth noting before getting into the review: Thumbs Up Indica is a rotating-strain product. The batch I purchased contained Glitter Bomb, but future lots may contain different genetics entirely. As always with rotating SKUs, your experience may differ from mine depending on when you pick it up.

Glitter Bomb is a strain name that usually gets people expecting something loud. Sweet candy notes, noticeable flavour, and enough character to stand out from the crowd.

This wasn't really that.

The nose was fairly muted right from opening. There was a little sweetness there, but nothing that jumped out and demanded attention. The flavour followed a similar path. Pleasant enough, slightly sweet, but not especially memorable.

What this product did well was avoid making mistakes.

The burn stayed consistent, the smoke remained reasonably smooth well past the halfway point, and a small resin ring started forming during the session. The ash landed somewhere in the salt-and-pepper range, which felt about right for the overall experience.

Effects were present but fairly straightforward. Relaxing enough to notice, functional enough to keep moving, and generally in line with what I'd expect from a value-oriented indica pre-roll. Nothing particularly deep or memorable, but nothing disappointing either.

The more I smoked it, the more I realized this product probably isn't aimed at cannabis enthusiasts chasing flavour, terp expression, or unique experiences.

It's aimed at people who want to get their smoke on without spending a lot of money.

At roughly ten dollars for two one-gram pre-rolls, that's an important distinction.

This isn't the kind of product that's going to build a connoisseur. At the same time, it's not offensive enough to turn people away from cannabis either. For consumers looking for a simple, affordable smoke, that's probably a perfectly reasonable place to be.

About the brand: Thumbs Up has built much of its reputation around approachable pricing, high-THC offerings, and products aimed at consumers looking for value without sacrificing basic smoking quality.

About the producer/company: Thumbs Up is produced by Weed Me Inc., a Canadian cannabis company focused on a wide range of flower, pre-roll, and value-oriented cannabis products across multiple provinces.

Overall this felt like a product that knew exactly where it belonged. It didn't impress me, but it didn't disappoint me either.

If the name is Thumbs Up, I'd probably land somewhere around thumbs sideways.

My score: 7.1/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you're looking for affordable pre-rolls that smoke reasonably well without breaking the bank, you may end up rating this higher than I did.

Broken Coast Platinum Pavé Blunt Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This was sampled to me. Same honesty either way.

Broken Coast is one of those brands that still carries pretty high expectations in the legal market, especially for consumers who remember the earlier Broken Coast reputation before the market became as crowded as it is now.

This was my first time sitting down with their Platinum Pavé blunt format, and my feelings on legal blunts remain pretty mixed overall.

Right away the presentation felt premium. Clean construction, darker wrap, nice filter presentation, and overall it definitely looked more upscale than the average legal pre-roll.

The smoke started out fairly smooth for a blunt. Flavour was subtle and honestly a little difficult to fully pin down. Nothing offensive by any means, but not a super loud terp experience either. The blunt itself didn’t burn dramatically slower than a normal joint, but it absolutely felt like "more smoking" overall in terms of smoke density and heaviness.

Early effects settled in pretty quickly for me. Relaxing, slightly heavy around the eyes, but not debilitating or couch-locking. A pretty comfortable chill indica lane overall.

About halfway through, the blunt feeling started becoming more noticeable. Still smokable and reasonably smooth all the way to the end, but the smoke density eventually crossed into that slightly tiring territory that reminds me why I personally don’t gravitate toward most legal blunt products very often.

The ash stayed around a medium grey colour throughout, which felt about in line with expectations for this kind of format.

I think part of my issue with legal blunts in general is probably legacy expectations. I still miss the old tobacco-wrap blunt experience, and a lot of modern legal blunt wraps just don’t fully recreate that same richness or flavour payoff for me personally.

That said, as far as legal blunts go, this was fairly competent overall. Not something I would personally rush out to rebuy, but far from the worst execution I’ve seen in the category.

About the brand: Broken Coast built a strong reputation early in Canadian legalization for premium indoor flower, distinctive cultivar selection, and a more craft-oriented identity than most large-scale legal producers at the time. Even now, the brand still carries a certain level of expectation among long-time legal consumers despite the market becoming far more competitive in recent years.

About the producer/company: Tilray Brands is one of the largest cannabis companies in the world, operating a wide portfolio of recreational and medical cannabis brands across multiple international markets. Broken Coast exists within that larger corporate structure as one of the company’s more premium-positioned cannabis brands.

Overall this felt like a respectable legal blunt that delivered a relaxing enough experience, even if it didn’t fully convert me on the format itself.

My score: 7.3/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you already enjoy legal blunt-style products more than I do, you may end up rating this higher than I did.

Status LamborKiwi Infused Pre-Roll Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This was sampled to me and clearly marked "not intended for sale / educational purposes only." Same honesty either way.

Sometimes a product tells you exactly what it's going to be before you even light it.

LamborKiwi is one of those products.

The green glass tip immediately stands out, and once lit there was absolutely no question what flavour they were aiming for. Kiwi comes through hard right from the first puff and stays present throughout the entire session.

Whether that's a good thing or not will probably depend on what you're looking for.

The flavour itself is surprisingly accurate. Sweet kiwi, slightly tart, and strong enough that it lingers long after each puff. By the halfway point it almost felt like the kiwi flavour had built a permanent residence in my throat.

The problem is that the smoke quality couldn't quite keep up.

This thing was harsh. Not completely unbearable, but enough that coughing became a recurring part of the experience. The flavour was doing a lot of the heavy lifting while the smoke itself became increasingly fatiguing as the session went on.

To its credit, the ash stayed fairly light and we still found ourselves smoking it well past the halfway point. If it was truly awful it would have ended up in the ashtray long before then.

Effects ended up being the strongest part of the experience. Fun, chatty, social, and noticeably potent without becoming overwhelming. This felt like the kind of infused pre-roll you'd bring to a small gathering rather than something you'd quietly enjoy alone.

As the session progressed the flavour started becoming less enjoyable and more exhausting. The kiwi profile never disappeared, but by the final third I was ready for it to be over.

About the brand: Status has built much of its identity around flavour-forward infused products, high potency, and approachable formats designed for consumers looking for something louder than a traditional pre-roll.

About the producer/company: ANC Inc., now operating under the Simply Solventless Concentrates umbrella, manufactures a variety of infused and concentrate-focused products for the Canadian legal market. SSC has become increasingly visible through acquisitions, solventless products, and expansion into multiple recreational categories.

Overall this felt like a product that delivered exactly what it promised. Loud kiwi flavour, strong effects, and absolutely no subtlety. The effects were more enjoyable than the smoking experience, but the smoking experience was interesting enough that we still finished it.

My score: 7.2/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you're specifically looking for bold flavoured infused pre-rolls and don't mind a bit of harshness, you may end up rating this higher than I did.

3Saints Frosted Lemons FSE Resin 510 Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This was sampled to me. Same honesty either way.

This cart landed pretty nicely in the full-spectrum functional daytime lane.

Right away the flavour came across as properly cannabis-forward without trying too hard to become candy or artificial citrus. At lower voltage around 2.4v the terp profile translated especially well through the first half of the cart, with the citrus and cannabis texture lingering in the mouth afterwards in a way that felt satisfying instead of thin or disposable.

Effects consistently stayed in a really functional zone for me. Motivated but not anxious. Engaged without becoming mentally overwhelming. It worked especially well for rainy-day energy where I wanted to do things without feeling pressured to constantly be productive.

Hardware-wise, this performed reasonably well overall, but nothing about it really stood out as exceptional. No major clogging issues through most of the cart, which already puts it ahead of a surprising number of legal vapes, but around the halfway point I did start noticing the oil thickening slightly and eventually bumped the voltage into the 2.6–2.8v range to help keep things flowing cleanly through the second half.

Importantly though, the flavour held together reasonably well into the middle and later stages of the cart instead of completely flattening out after the first quarter like some cheaper hardware and oil combinations tend to do.

This definitely isn’t one of those super discreet candy-smelling vapes. It sits much more comfortably in the cannabis-forward full-spectrum category, which I personally appreciated.

About the brand: 3Saints has built much of its reputation around approachable pricing, strong THC numbers, and products aimed toward consumers looking for functional everyday cannabis experiences without premium boutique pricing.

About the producer/company: Greentone Enterprises operates multiple cannabis brands within the Canadian legal market, with 3Saints positioned as one of its more accessible recreational offerings focused on potency and value.

Overall this ended up being a solid full-spectrum cart experience with functional effects, decent flavour retention, and acceptable hardware performance, even if nothing about it felt especially premium or memorable.

My score: 7.8/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you prefer more cannabis-forward full-spectrum carts over ultra-sweet botanical terp vapes, you may end up rating this higher than I did.

Sample rule change in Alberta

This is an interesting new update.

What does everyone think about the new wording?

I think AGLC got the date wrong.
