Mendo alternative?

SIA but is it valid to be annoyed that an order placed on a Wednesday morning doesn‘t get shipped before the weekend? Also the flower selection seems kinda lacking lately. Entitely possible that I’m just in a bad mood. Thanks.

New Northern Canna- The Collective(Forbidden Candy)

Anyone have any guesses on the possible cross on this strain?? Just grabbed it for $203 after taxes for the 28g as I’ve been quite impressed with their wares lately, seem on the upper level of the rec market cannabis grow wise and quality control. I’ll post more about this flower when I crack it soon, just finishing the King Kong 7g and will rotate this one in. I couldn’t find any info on genetics for this through Northern Cannabis but found the strain name used in the UK for a Sativa strain. Happy tokes anyhow!!

Super Toast Sgt. Pineapple 7g Milled Review

Super Toast Sgt. Pineapple 7g Milled Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This one was purchased for me from our own inventory at Upstairs Cannabis where we currently sell it for $29.99. Same honesty either way.

Super Toast Sgt. Pineapple is a 7g milled hybrid product from Super Toast. The official product description talks about sweet tropical pineapple notes and fluffy ready-to-smoke milled flower, and honestly that lined up fairly well with my experience.

Right away the moisture and grind quality stood out positively. Medium grind with lots of visible kief throughout the bag. Smokable immediately without needing extra prep work and definitely not dry or dusty.

The aroma had a natural subtle pineapple sweetness to it without crossing into artificial candy territory. This didn’t come across like heavily flavoured or terp-enhanced weed to me. More of a mild tropical sweetness sitting on top of a pretty standard cannabis smell.

On the smoke itself the flavour became more muted, although some of the subtle sweetness still carried through. Where things started falling apart for me was the actual joint experience. I rolled several joints with both my usual Gizeh Green papers and later Zig-Zag Blues trying to see if different papers would improve the burn and airflow.

The Zig-Zag Blue helped slightly with the harshness, but across multiple joints I consistently struggled to get satisfying pulls from this stuff. The second half of the joints also tended to develop a hotter, spicier smoke that made the experience less enjoyable as the session went on.

Burn quality itself was decent overall. Darker ash but still mostly mid-grey territory. No major resin ring formed during the smoke.

The effects were honestly still pretty nice. I noticed a calming effect almost immediately that quickly shifted into wanting to find something engaging to do. This feels like absolute “puzzle weed” to me. Relaxed and mellow without becoming lazy or couchlocked.

This is still a pretty popular choice in the store and honestly I can understand why. The consistency, approachable flavour profile, and price point make it appealing for people looking for convenient milled flower. Personally though, I suspect this product may perform better in bowls or bongs than it does in joints.

About the brand: Super Toast leans heavily into approachable, ready-to-use cannabis products with playful branding and accessible price points aimed at mainstream consumers looking for convenience and consistency over boutique craft positioning.

About the producer: Pure Sunfarms is one of the larger cannabis producers in Canada and focuses heavily on scalable, accessible cannabis products with strong consistency and broad retail availability.

My score: 7.3/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you mainly consume milled flower through bowls or bongs and enjoy mellow functional effects, you may rate this higher than I did.

Mary Jones MF Grape Cannabis Soda Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried this recently while consuming a few other products alongside it, so I can’t really isolate the effects with any confidence. This one was purchased for me from our own shelf at Upstairs Cannabis. Same honesty either way.

Mary Jones MF Grape is a 355ml cannabis-infused grape soda built around the classic Jones Soda flavour profile. This isn’t trying to reinvent cannabis beverages or become some ultra-premium craft soda experience. The goal here is pretty clearly nostalgia, drinkability, and recognizable pop-shop flavour.

Right away it delivered exactly what I remembered from classic Jones Soda products. Big grape pop flavour with that recognizable sweet candy-style grape profile. The cannabis stayed hidden surprisingly well throughout the can.

What helped the drink work for me was the carbonation and the slight prickly citrus edge underneath the sweetness. Without that extra sharpness I think the sugar would have become overwhelming pretty quickly. The carbonation stayed nice throughout the can and helped keep it drinkable, although it was definitely a little too sweet to crush multiple of them in a row.

This felt much more like drinking an actual soda first and a cannabis product second, which honestly is probably exactly what the target audience wants. For people who already love grape soda, this is honestly a really solid beverage option.

About the brand: Mary Jones is the cannabis extension of the long-running Jones Soda brand and leans heavily into nostalgia, recognizable legacy soda flavours, and approachable mainstream beverage experiences.

About the producer/company: Jones Soda has been around since the 1990s and built a cult following through unconventional soda flavours, edgy branding, and strong convenience-store/pop-culture identity. Products like MF Grape already had nostalgic recognition long before cannabis entered the picture.

We used to carry this one at Upstairs Cannabis, although we currently only carry some of the other Jones beverage offerings around the $6.99 range.

My score: 8.5/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you already enjoy classic Jones Soda flavours and want a cannabis beverage that prioritizes drinkability over heavy cannabis flavour, you may rate this even higher than I did.

Greyscales-Smalls Dipper(Petroleum)

Very nice scent and nice moisture. Grabbed for $81 after tax for the 14g. This is the third drop ive grabbed from the dippers line up. The other two were Gelato Dream and Gas Cream Cake. This is Lot 420’s entry of their smalls selection. I’d grab these bags anytime I see them. Not many stores if any usually stock these bags so I have to use hibuddy to source them. Had a 17 min travel time by drive to get this one and I’d do it again. Happy tokes everyone. (I noticed there was a little window on the bottom of the bag that I hadn’t noticed until I took it out of the bag and had it in the jar lol.). It’s folded closed when the bags bought so it was camouflaged.)

Jonny Chronic Acapulco Gold 3 x 0.5g Pre-Rolls Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried these today while getting some chores done around the house. These were sampled to me in a 3 x 0.5g format. Same honesty either way.

Right away the nose was fairly modest overall, although I did pick up a bit of spice or something underneath the cannabis. Nothing that jumped out as a huge modern terp bomb, but honestly that ended up fitting the experience pretty well.

The smoke itself had a nice straightforward cannabis flavour that felt a lot more old school than a lot of modern fruit-heavy strains. Burn quality was solid the whole way through with light grey ash and a nice resin ring forming early on. They smoked well without needing any touch-ups and stayed reasonably smooth throughout the session.

What really stood out to me here was the overall vibe of the high. Definitely more “high” than “stoned.” The effects started showing up around the halfway point with a bright-eyed uplifted feeling that stayed light, functional, and motivating without becoming overly intense.

At 22.5% THC this felt firmly in the “old school weed” lane to me. Less about overwhelming potency and more about an enjoyable uplifting cannabis experience that still lets you go about your day. I’m literally planning to crush a bunch of chores while smoking the rest of these today.

One of the best compliments I can give a pre-roll is that there was nothing left for the ashtray except ash and filter. No abandoning the joint halfway through, no fighting the burn near the end, no harsh finish.

About the brand: Jonny Chronic tends to position itself around recognizable cultivars, cannabis-first branding, and smaller-scale production rather than flashy novelty or extreme potency chasing.

About the producer: JC Green Cannabis is a much smaller producer compared to many of the major Canadian LPs. That smaller scale often allows brands like Jonny Chronic to focus more heavily on cultivar identity and straightforward flower quality instead of mass-market volume products.

I would absolutely buy these again.

My score: 8.1/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you miss that lighter functional old-school sativa style of high, you may rate these even higher than I did.

BIEN A L’HAZE • Cherry Grape Haze • Terroir 🍒🍇⚜️

«Cherry Grape Haze» most commonly refers to a specific, sweet-tasting terpene and flavor profile rather than a single standardized seed strain.

Genetic Lineage: This flavor profile is often achieved by crossing fruit-forward genetics. Strains like Cherry Pie(sweet cherry and earth), Purple Punch (grape and berry), or classic Haze varieties are the most common parents.

Thick circular heads on the big buds, long red pistols, Apple green colour, good amount of Trichomes & some short dark purple sugar leaf.

One of my favourites was Grape Haze in this same Rotational jar called bien a L’Haze and when I saw Cherry Grape Haze,I scooped and it’s only 24🍒 {tx incl}

Grinds up big, better to try to remove all the stems, strong odour when grinding sweet cherries & grapes in a herbal setting.

Dry toke fruity spicy herbal.

The odour is insane , I really doubt it translating into flavours with passing notes.

Actually translated very good sweet Cherries . Have some background noise of herbal + grape at end of inhale & on exhale a peppery mild spice .

The burn produces a lot of flavourful smoke, burns slow, straight, ash is light grey and little darker grey.

Potency is felt midway, hybrid leaning sativa, joyful, mild inflammation relief,a little boost of energy but not racy, very good potency for 17%.

She has a delightful Aroma that personally it will take a while for me to get bored. Just like Grape Haze that I loved and had 3-4 jars. When I see this 🍒🍇Haze,I will get it again.

South Point Turbo Diesel Flower Rosin

Paid about 80$ for the 14gs and got about 2.7 of flower rosin in return! Incredible bag appeal on the buds, all huge nugs all over a gram to over 2gs! Super sticky and fresh and covered in trichomes! Strong aroma of lemon and mild on the diesel but this batch has a bit more diesel to it than usual. Perfect balance hybrid that leans on the sativa side, with uplifting euphoric effects. Sorry for the low quality pics as my camera has a lame macro lense.. 8/10

Maître Artisans(Permanent Gusher) by Terroir(Exka)

Maître Artisans(Permanent Gusher) by Terroir(Exka)

  1. Packaging An opaque black plastic jar. The label lists the THC (29.5%), CBD (0.1%), and total terpene levels (2.8%). It also includes a list of dominant terpenes, the variety in rotation(Permanent Gusher), the packaging date (2026-04-20), and the mention "packaged in Quebec." A minimalist presentation, but the essentials are there. The jar contained a Boost, which I removed due to personal preference.

  2. Appearance / Buds Two medium-sized, dense, and compact buds, not too dry/moist. The flowers have a nice appearance with an "indica" structure and forest green hues with hints of mauve beneath a lacy pattern of trichomes. Under a microscope, the trichomes are long and mostly intact. Smokes easily with a whitish ash and a resin ring.

  3. Aromas/Terpenes Limonene, caryophyllene, myrcene. Good intensity on opening; it's gassy, chemical, earthy, and lemony. Grinding develops the gassy, earthy, lemony, and chemical notes. On a dry hit, the lemon dominates along with the earthy and chemical notes. On the palate, it translates well; it tastes like it smells. There's gassy, earthy, burnt rubber, chemical, lemon, and a subtle sweet note. A profile somewhere between Jealousy and Permanent Marker. The smoke is smooth and light.

  4. Effects The effects come on slowly and gradually increase; I feel them "behind my eyes." My eyelids feel heavy, my body relaxes and becomes clumsy. Cerebrally, there's euphoria, relaxation, a strong mood boost, and a desire to socialize. The high is medium-mild, manageable, and only very slightly noticeable on the face. It remains functional and short-lived. It "takes the edge off," giving me my dose without being too overwhelming. It's versatile for something mild.

Produced by Ono Cannabis and packaged by Exka, it might be interesting to try to discover a Permanent Marker-style profile, but for those like me who also buy from the Ontario market, it quickly becomes repetitive. It's a decent product, but not enough to justify its $44 price tag; I would find it much more reasonable at around $29. Unfortunately, I don't find it satisfying in terms of the intensity and duration of the effects.

Live Resin vs Cured Resin (FSE) - What do you prefer?

I know this is probably going to be different for everyone, but I’m curious what people in the community are finding and preferring lately. I’ve been wondering about this because a few of the bigger LPs: 1964, Sixty Seven Sins, and Woody Nelson offer cured resin products. Picked up the 67S gas face pen and it hit me noticeably harder and felt more like a flower high than pretty much any live resin cart I’ve tried.

For reference, I’ve gone through most of the live resin carts from EastCann, Tribal, Four54, and Iris Labs, and while the majority taste amazing, the effects from the 67 Sins FSE just gave me more of a classic stoned feeling.

Do you guys generally prefer live resin or Cured Resin?
And for people who have long term experience with both, which gives you better effects personally?

SHRED Sour Ranger 7g Milled Flower Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried this recently. These were sampled to me through the mail. Same honesty either way. We currently have this on the menu at Upstairs Cannabis for $30.99.

SHRED Sour Ranger is a sativa-leaning milled flower product built around convenience, potency, and easy repeatable sessions rather than craft flower presentation. This is very much aimed at people who want something ready to roll without having to think too hard about it.

Right away the nose gave off citrus and sweet diesel notes. Reasonable aroma overall, but nothing that made me stop and say “WHOA.” Still definitely louder and more flavour-forward than a lot of milled flower tends to be.

The consistency of the mill itself was honestly pretty solid and easily my favourite SHRED milled product so far. Good moisture content, easy to work with, and rolled nicely in Gizeh green papers. I also didn’t notice much in the way of stems or excessive shake, which matters a lot in this category.

The smoke itself stayed reasonably smooth for milled flower. The flavour leaned lighter than the aroma suggested and didn’t come across especially heavy on cannabis flavour, but it stayed pleasant enough throughout the joint. Burn quality was solid with a good even burn and fairly light ash.

The high was the standout part for me. Very motivating, bright, functional sativa energy that stayed consistent throughout the session. This was very much a “Go Go Sour Ranger, I’m gonna get some shit done on this” kind of high.

This wasn’t especially nuanced cannabis, but I also don’t think that was ever the goal. It felt much more designed around convenience, functionality, and approachable potency than deep terpene exploration.

About the brand: SHRED is positioned as a highly approachable value-focused cannabis brand built around convenience products, flavour-forward experiences, and broad consumer accessibility.

About the producer: Organigram is one of the larger cannabis producers in Canada with multiple national brands across flower, vapes, edibles, and infused products. Compared to smaller independent producers focused on limited-batch cultivation or highly curated flower experiences, Organigram operates at a much larger scale and tends to focus heavily on consistency, accessibility, and products designed for broad market appeal.

My score: 7.5/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you enjoy convenience-focused milled flower with motivating sativa effects and a reasonable price-to-quality ratio, you may rate this even higher than I did.

3SAINTS | Frosted Lemons

Smell was almost as muted as the taste. Cracking open the jar, I got a subtle fruity citrus smell imo. After tossing it in the grinder though, it basically smelled like nothing. Don’t really know what happened there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ll give it credit though, when smoking it, there’s a tiny hint of citrus. Maybe lemon?

The high completely redeemed it for me and I actually enjoyed this stuff a lot. Got me really zooted. It smoked great, wasn’t harsh, and holy trichomes on these things. Would definitely buy again.

Frosted Fruitcake - LOT420

Another LOT420 Review.

Picked this up at 6gs for 42$ before tax

I have heard a lot about this strain recently from other lps and I remember Flodega used to have the fruit and fuel which had FFC in its mix, I also love wedding cake type strains so I was hyped for it.

Opening the bag, the smell was pretty great!. I got a mix of sweet fruit, light doughy/cake notes, and a stinky fuel in the background. It was not straight candy loud, but it had a smooth fruity petrol dessert kind of nose.

The buds looked really solid overall. Nice structure, good frost, and a pretty clean trim. The flower had decent moisture, nothing really to rave about. Nice sized nugs too.

The smell translated pretty well once rolled. On the smoke, i find the gas is more prominent, insanely loud on flavour for me, and it was smooth and enjoyable.

The burn was pretty decent overall. The joint smoked clean for most of the way through, and the flavour stayed around more than some strains.

The high was extremely couch locking, heavy on the eyes, I could feel it instantly like my eyes lids had mini weights on them. I had crazy munchies after, it honestly reminded me of pricey stuff I used to smoke as a teenager. I just wanted to veg out haha

Solid smoke, will pick up again for sure!

SweetGrass - Mint Chocolate Chip 510 Cart. Worth Trying!

I really enjoyed this one and would recommend trying it at least once. It is a pretty even hybrid with some creeper effects. it has a nice flavor that is minty and creamy for sure. the hardware is very nice also and the info on the packaging is well done. I had no issues either with leaking or clogging.

SweetGrass - Mix Tape 510 Cart.

This Sativa dominant resin cart by SweetGrass is a combination of different research and development strains I believe. I really enjoyed this cart and would highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for a strong sativa cart. The cart hardware is ceramic and I had no issues with clogging or leaking. The flavor is nice too and no harshness at all. Definitely one of the better carts I have tried.

Northern Canna-Atomic Marker bud shots.

Just thought I’d throw some pics up of the Atomic Marker from Northern Canna. Cost was around $64 after taxes. I’m happy, ive really been enjoying Northern Canna’s flower lately. It’s a little pricy but the high hits me nicely and it’s got good residual high as well. This atomic marker smells very similar to the Perm Marker they grow. Diesel, gassy, permanent black market smell. Awesome taste and burn. Took no burn shots yet. I’ll toss one up soon. Happy tokes!!! Happy Victoria? Day!

Permanent Chapo Pistols & Paris 7G

I Guinea Pigged and wasn’t let down this time.

THC 30.2 Terps 3.2

Grown by Meridian 125 W 🔥

The permanent chapo has a chemmy minty cake slight earthy citrus but I may be confusing myself. It’s got a very pungent tastes to it and the smell is LOUD, perfect sticky cure and it gets me right so I’m gonna review it.

⚠️Fair warning as a top shelf smoker my palate and tolerance are quite hard to please and weed that is not of quality will always be spoken about with honesty⚠️

So if I’m being honest this checked all boxes smell taste structure cure and the high lasts a decent while.

Fell asleep quite easily on this stuff.

Only negative was some joints had sections of pepper but it’s not dominantly pepper for the entire joint since it ends up clearing up around 30 percent in and it’s a salt and pepper not just straight pepper and some joints didn’t have much darkness in the ash at all. Didn’t affect the joint staying lit and didn’t affect the experience at all.

I’d still put this in the recommendation pile for anyone wanting to smoke great bud and not be disappointed in the effect and the product itself.

My top recommendations would be in no particular order

Banana cheesecake from W C G

Permanent Chapo from P&P

Cake N Bake from CMC

Lime Drizzle from Simply Bare

Pine Mentz from Sweet Grass

Roll X from VCC

Dark Rainbow from Woody Nelson.

I’m sure there’s a couple more I’ll update if I remember them.

SHRED’ems Blueberry Blaster Max10 Gummies Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried these last night with a friend. These were sampled to me through the mail and retailed around the $19.99 MSRP range. Same honesty either way.

We consumed these alongside other cannabis products, so I intentionally didn’t try to isolate or overstate the edible effects themselves. This review is focused mostly on the actual eating experience and overall usability.

These were 10mg THC gummies in the Max10 format, with each gummy individually packaged inside the larger box. The individual wrapping honestly worked well for portability, portioning, and keeping the gummies from turning into one giant sticky mess, although I still personally hate how much individual packaging cannabis edibles require under the current regulations. Edit* these also contain 10mg cbg*

Right away the texture stood out as much softer and more Jello-like than expected. Definitely a softer chew compared to firmer gummies, but still pleasant overall.

The blueberry flavour itself was actually quite tasty. It didn’t just fall into generic “blue candy” territory. There was a recognizable blueberry flavour there that worked well, although the overall sweetness level pushed pretty hard into syrupy territory after a few gummies.

The outer sugar-style coating was probably my biggest criticism. Both of us agreed it didn’t really need to be there. Between the coating itself and the gummies already containing 3g of sugar per 4.5g serving, things got very sweet very quickly. By the third gummy both of us felt pretty satisfied and didn’t really want more.

There was a little more of the classic edible aftertaste than the Paradise Punch gummies had, but it still stayed reasonably controlled overall and never became unpleasant.

About the brand: SHRED is positioned as a flavour-forward, highly approachable cannabis brand built around convenience, accessibility, and mass-market appeal. A lot of their products lean heavily into candy-style flavouring, social usability, and repeatable lower-dose experiences rather than traditional cannabis purism.

About the producer: Organigram is one of the larger cannabis producers in Canada with multiple national brands across several market categories. Compared to smaller independent producers that may focus on limited batches or highly curated cultivation, Organigram operates at a much larger scale and tends to focus heavily on consistency, manufacturing efficiency, and broad consumer accessibility. Products like SHRED’ems make a lot more sense when viewed through that lens.

My score: 7.7/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was our experience. If you enjoy sweeter candy-style gummies with a softer chew and don’t mind a heavier sugar profile, you may rate these even higher than we did.

Lime Runtz by PurpleFarm

Lime Runtz by PurpleFarm

  1. Packaging

A clear glass jar, showcasing the flowers. The label lists the THC (29.7%), CBD (0.1%), CBD (0.6%), and total terpene levels (2.3%). CBG is a cannabinoid similar to CBD in that it is non-psychoactive and possesses anti-inflammatory properties. The list of dominant terpenes is missing, but the label includes the classification (sativa), lineage (Spritzer x GrumpZ), aromas (sweet, lemony), appearance (lime green and purple, frosted trichomes), packaging date (2026-04-09), and the mentions "craft," "non-irradiated," and "hand-trimmed and hand-packed." A nice presentation; a terpene list would have been appreciated, but at least the listed aromas give a good idea. The jar didn't contain any Boost.

  1. Appearance / Buds

Small to medium-sized buds, dense with a good bounce, not too dry/moist. A beautiful look despite a fluffy structure that lacks a bit of body. The flowers have shades of purple that contrast with the soft green under a blanket of trichomes. Under a microscope, the trichomes are mostly intact, and some are bursting with anthocyanins. Smokes easily with a pale gray ash and a ring of resin.

  1. Aromas/Terpenes

Limonene, myrcene, caryophyllene, linalool.

On opening, it's earthy, tangy, gassy, and floral. Grinding releases softer, fruitier, sweet, and tangy notes. On a dry hit, it's candy-like, fruity, sweet, and lemony. On the palate, there's a gassy first note followed by earthiness, acidity, and a subtle sweetness. Overall, the profile is balanced, not too sweet or earthy. The smoke is heavy and creamy.

  1. Effects

The effects are instantaneous, a kind of electric current that energizes and makes you want to move. The body is more alert, nervous, and agile. Cerebrally, thoughts rush in and jostle each other, the mind is bubbling, creative, sociable, euphoric, with an elevated mood. The high is moderate, manageable, and remains functional, but I definitely feel the dose of stimulation while remaining in control. The mood is ideal for a wake-and-bake or an afternoon pick-me-up, perfect for cleaning or spending time outdoors.

A great purchase in a slightly higher price range. From the look to the aromas and effects, it's a worthwhile experience. It will be a great addition to my summer rotation.
