What’s even the point….

End of an era

Smash ultimate has an 89 fighter roster which is one of the largest of any fighting game so people think that there’s no possible way they cut it. But the thing is games take a long time to make especially nowadays. And the large roster game ended up cutting out all the single player modes from previous games due to how demanding it was

The thing that concerns me the most is what happens after smash 6? We can’t really expect a 100+ base roster every game with new fighters added to said base roster AND upcoming dlc fighters

Eventually they will have to rip the bandaid off because the disappointment from having the biggest roster ever TWICE and then cutting it is gonna be way worse than if they cut it next game and then build up to the next smash ultimate (unless next game is the last one ever)

I was listening to different voice clips in smash ultimate and I just noticed that lucario can speak (and is voiced by goku)

Sakurai said if he made the next smash game he’d have to cut back on the roster heavily especially with how much more expensive and longer its taking for games to be made

If the roster is chopped down I imagine the third parties will be the first to go so the question is who’s the most likely to stay and who will leave?

For the post I chose springtrap and mai shiranui since they represent the two types of designs that would not be allowed

Springtrap is a pretty gory looking character who is basically a walking corpse. I’ve kinda wanted him for a bit because we have no horror/indie reps yet and he’d be perfect (I could imagine him playing like Jason from Multiversus)

Mai Shiranui is very famously known for being left out of terry’s stage because “smash is for good boys and girls”. Usually they censor characters like pyra/mythra who show too much skin but it seems this wasn’t allowed because she’d need a pretty massive design overhaul

I know that people dislike them for taking the roles of their male counterparts but if they were renamed and had different backstories I think they could very easily work as their own fighters. The powersuits and gadgets alone make them pretty fun and unique compared to other kombatants

If I did have to come up with different lore, I think the idea of them being former lin kuei that weren’t on board with the cyber initiative would be pretty interesting especially since scorpion’s shirai ryu doesn’t really have many interesting members in it outside of like….Takeda

Madam bo could also work but she’d probably just be bo rai cho’s wife or something

I imagine logan will do something big like this again for jeffy’s next birthday

Say what you want about fox but it’s great that he’s finally making a comeback after missing out on the absolute peak of nintendo’s mainstream

Switch is the most talked about console ever and every single franchise has had the best selling games in their entire series on it but Starfox never got anything. He missed his chance multiple times especially when covid came around the same time tiktok was getting popular and pretty much doubled the amount of people playing and talking about games

Personally I think sonic the hedgehog lost so much aura the moment he switched from his brawl design to the modern one
