Saratoga Corgi Racers

Hellooo corgi friends! My best girl, Maggie, was selected to be a racer at the Saratoga Race Track Corgi Cup this year on August 16. After hoping to do this for a year, we are ecstatic!

The race track requires that one comes with a second person, so catch and release duties can be split. I imagine there is also a safety and liability component here. However, my second person just bailed. 🫠

At such short notice, I’ve asked everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, I know if they’d be my second, and I’m coming up dry. We have to travel for this event, so it’s quite a tall ask. I really do not want to have to drop out; my girl loves Fast CAT so I know she’d be a natural.

Wondering if there are any other corgi people on this sub, who are also racing that weekend, and have an additional person in their group who might want to be my second?

Alternatively, if you went last year—do you think there is a member of staff who would stand in? I realize this is probably a slim chance given liability.

It’s a big long shot, and honestly I feel weird asking this on the internet, but nothing to lose I guess!

Need Salary Advice

I’m going to be asking for a promotion as a part of a team restructure.

Some context:

  1. Company is advertising / tech, current top line revenue for FY2026 is ~$120M, FTEs ~220

  2. My title is currently Sr. Manager, FP&A, I’m an IC, and I make $161k. No bonus, some options, VHCOL. I was the first true FP&A hire and I’ve since carved out the function.

  3. A VP whose responsibilities overlapped somewhat with FP&A left. Since they left, I picked up half of their job, and the other half was delegated to another team member.

  4. Because it’s part of my job, I know that they are not planning to backfill the VP 1:1. Half of the role that was delegated to someone else will be broken out as a separate function. It is not clear what is happening to the half I took on, but I do know there is a plan to hire a FA. I have expressed my desire to have a direct report in the past.

I am going to propose that I am promoted and keep what I took on, and manage the FA that is hired to support. I have my talking points ready.

Question is: what is a reasonable compensation ask? I know they will for sure give me not what I ask for (there’s a history of this), so my game was to go a bit higher.

Any suggestions on a reasonable ask?

6 yr old English Springer Spaniel Collapsed

This is a weird one and I realize there will probably not be an actual answer, only educated guesses.

My childhood dog was an English Springer Spaniel, that as far as we knew on all accounts was healthy. One day, my mom and sisters left for the day and our dog was fine. Our dad was home with our dog that day, and said he was acting fine. When my mom and sisters returned home (I was away at summer camp), he had passed and had no visible signs of trauma.

My dad said he had his back to our dog for 10 min while he cleaned the lawnmower, and said before he turned around our dog was active and fine. We had a very large yard at the time in a rural area so no other people would have entered the yard to do something, nor would there have been a predatory animal in this environment. Apparently 10 min later, my dad turned back around and saw that our dog had collapsed. He stated he tried to revive our dog to no avail.

It was a hot day and my mom had previously said before she left that our dog shouldn’t be out too long. We all suspect my dad most likely left our dog out in the heat too long. An autopsy was never completed, so we will never truly know.

However, my question is what else could cause the sudden collapse and death of an otherwise healthy, 6 yr. old dog? Would heat exhaustion act as quickly as the 10 min my dad stated he had his back turned? Wouldn’t there have been symptoms?

I have always thought this to be wildly suspicious (and yes, we all have a complicated relationship with our dad—story for a different day), and would love to get some science-based information on what could have happened. Again, I realize this would all be an educated guess and no real certainty can be provided.

Regardless, Stash was the goodest boy and I’m sure he is running free in a field somewhere. ❤️🌈

Day 7 Post-Op Pain

I’m on day 7, and generally speaking my pain, swelling, and overall uncomfortableness has declined significantly.

However, yesterday I had some sharp throbbing pain which was intermittent. I took some meds, rinsed with saltwater, and it went away.

That same pain started up again today, also intermittently. This time, it’s lasted longer and I can feel it extending into my front teeth. The pain is similar to what it feels like after getting braces tightened; it’s not the worst pain but definitely uncomfortable. It’s also a bit tingly / nervy. Today, the meds have not gotten rid of it.

I don’t see any visible sockets, but just wondering, could this be the start of dry sockets? Or am I past the time for it?

When did you start working out post-procedure?

Hi everyone, I (35F) had two teeth removed today that were partially erupted, and a coronectomy on another that was also partially erupted. The fourth was left as-is since it was fully covered in bone and I’m well past the age for it to erupt.

Honestly the recovery hasn’t been as bad as I expected. I’ve been eating cottage cheese, chicken soup, and ice cream today, and hydrating a lot. Also sticking with the med regimen I was prescribed.

Normally, I exercise A LOT so I did prepare myself for a few days of rest during recovery. Except I’m already feeling antsy and wanting to rush it (yes, I know, listen to your body).

When did you feel ready to get back into a regular exercise regimen? For context, my normal routine is a combination of Soul Cycle, hot yoga, and then usually I throw in one day a week of Pilates or kickboxing. Most of these can be intense so I want to make sure I am taking care of myself.

FP&A Consultant at a Big 4

Curious if anyone has made the switch from being “in-house” (this feels weird to say outside of the field of law) corporate FP&A to working as an FP&A consultant for a Big 4. I’ve seen a handful of PwC postings.

What made you want to switch? Do you like it? Do you still feel fulfilled? What are some of the big differences?

Curious to hear any feedback.

Button-down fitted tops/waistcoats

Has anyone successfully been able to find a top like the one pictured here, that fits them properly? I LOVE tops like this but by the time I get a size that doesn’t pull at the buttons in the dead center of the chest, the armpits are giant. For context I’m a 34DD.

I guess I could obviously get one tailored but sometimes it’s not worth it given how cheaply clothes are made these days.
