what is something in advancements/ tech that would make your life easier?

Not a cure. sorry guys.

For me being able to just carb count… nothing else. a dream. just input my carbs and site change and then just not care.

or even a system that accurately corrects like 15g carbs so you don’t have to bolus for snacks. ugh

what do people mean when they say they’re always greaving what their life could have been

Ive just been diagnosed, so this is really really scaring me. Is it common that it stops you living your life and enjoying it? I thought it would just be an extra stressor on top but not stop me.

Im really anxious that its going to ruin my life

will a pump give me some life back lol

yeah i mean im newly diagnosed start of this year but wow all i can think about is my diabetes 24/7 to a point where it does start to feel like its ruining my life. I dont mind injecting itself but the paranoia of just being here is freaking me out (hypo anxiety- already getting help)

Can a pump help alleviate some of this? or what pump specifically? or is this just my life now and i should get a grip haha

hope to god tech advances with something that makes this shit feel automated im already over it

UK Hotel/ Spas?

My dads 60th is coming up.

He loves castles and cottages, west midlands based so not insanely far but within 2 hours drive is fine.

I was looking to book him a spa and stay for the weekend surrounding his birthday. I would also book a good meal nearby.

Does anyone know of some great places worth looking into that will fall into the budget?

im looking at like no more than 500 for the 2 adults, meal included so no more than 400 for the stay and spa really.

thanks!

if anyone has any cooler ideas for a 60th birthday in this budget let me know

Please help my cat get his amputation surgery.

Hi, our family cat George was unfortunately part of a hit and run car accident. We are unsure of who did this, we just know he was hit and then left to drag himself to the side of the road where one of our neighbours thankfully found him.

We took George into the vets where they evaluated his condition and discovered his back right let has been broken in three places. His leg was also covered by a tire mark.

The options we have now are euthanasia, or amputation.

George was discovered to have a heart murmur, unsure if it was caused by this/ stress, so the surgery is a risk, but we would rather take our chances than end his life without trying.

We are unable to afford this surgery in such urgency, so we are trying everything we can to get this opportunity for him funded. We have already covered other costs such as care, x-rays etc, so this is the final call. The surgery cost is £1,500 + the pain medication and other fees.

He is able to have the surgery Thursday, for now we are medicating him with the prescribed pain medication to make it as comfortable as possible during the wait.

Anything is appreciated, thank you.

the best low carb snacks

low/ no carb; no insulin level.

I have found that the five guys lettuce wraps are great, obviously careful on toppings for no insulin. i don’t seem to spike from meat protein. Also not exactly a snack.

drop yours!

how many lows do you get on a pump?

Switching to a pump this year. Do you find they reduce lows or at least severe ones? How many do you get on average a week per say?

do you find diabetes makes you more sad or frustrated?

both obviously depending on the day.

some days it doesn’t bother me other days i feel like driving into a wall (joking….)

i thought about it a lot and i don’t know if i would describe it as life ruining anymore now ive lived with it a little longer, but i do sit on the fence between does this hold me back and make me sadder, or is it more of a massive annoyance?

Do you feel its taken away from your general enjoyment of life or do you think its more so added something that makes life harder?

made life less or added more life glass half full whatever bullshit

I have a crossbite at 23

My ortho is telling me to get invisalign but I have issues breathing when i lie down? She told me i should see a jaw specialist but didn’t say why.

I am wondering if pallet expansion is a thing here and if this would help me?

insulin pump?

i am considering going on a pump waitlist. its around 6 months anyway, but still.

Is it worth it? 3 day site changes and being hooked up to something- is it worth it really?

I get you don’t have to pull out pens, can take smaller doses etc, but how does it reduce mental load? does it reduce mental load?

I wouldn’t want to go on omnipod, i don’t like how they look and having something that big stuck to me actually scares me more than having a wire attached to me, lol.

My job is to model, and with that i am quite underweight and have been for a long while.

It sounds sad, but i look after myself still! this is how i make money, and being skinny is how i remain booked (as sad as that sounds). Alongside this, the days are super superrrr long. like 12 hours +. I have only recently been diagnosed so would like a little heads up.

Diagnosed as type 1 recently, however they sounded unsure and not like it’s definite. Does this sound typical? Im from the UK, so unsure ig i should push for more tests or if it seems pretty bang on that im type 1? The doctors were baffled by me at first so

My symptoms/ case:

No symptoms except high bloods .
Was pre diabetic for 2 years.
Put on gliclizide (not started on insulin straight away) and tablets are working and keeping me in range, even sending me quite low often. Been on them 2 months now.
Still no symptoms.
Im 24, skinny and in otherwise good health.

i was diagnosed in march.

its all in control, but its now hit me the second i have woken up that this is never, ever going away. This is it, forever. Ill be on MDI probably for years thanks to the stupid waitlists and lack of uk funding.

It feels incredibly hard right now, and i’ve had some say to me that it doesn’t get easier?!

For those longer diagnosed; does it ever feel like your life is your again? diabetes moved into the background/ feels routine? I genuinely cannot live this way FOREVER
