Therapists in private practice — how do you actually deal with the isolation? Genuinely asking.

Therapists in private practice — how do you actually deal with the isolation? Genuinely asking.

I've been in private practice for a while now and the part nobody really warns you about isn't the clinical complexity — it's how quietly lonely the whole thing can be.

No colleagues to debrief with after a heavy session. No one to check whether you're handling something well or completely missing it. Just you, your notes, and whatever supervision you can afford or find.

I'm trying to understand whether this is a shared experience or just my particular flavour of chaos, so I put together 5 questions about how practitioners actually manage burnout and isolation day-to-day — what's worked, what hasn't, what you've given up trying to find.

It takes under 5 minutes: [https://momtest.io/card/card\_e719f09f4beb\]

If you've cracked this in some way I haven't thought of, I'd especially love to hear it in the comments too.

Looking for a tech Cofounder enthusiastic about mental health

Hey everyone, I am 28f launching my second gig and looking for a tech cofounder who is passionate about the field of mental healthcare. I am a mental health professional myself and bring relevant industry knowledge and expertise. I have a wireframe prototype ready and a small community of early testers as well. I am
Looking for someone who can bring the vision to life!

I am not competing for a slice of the consumer side of the mental health market, but going after creating a layer of support catering to mental health professionals.

I am looking for a suitable tech collaborator, preferably based in Europe. A major plus if you are based in Ireland! ( but not a hard requirement! We live in a digital world!)

As long as you are enthusiastic about building something one of a kind, solution-oriented and sickeningly optimistic, let’s talk!

Dm me if you’re interested!

I am trying to research how many therapists, skip supervision because it is not accessible or affordable to them, does anyone have any insights on where I can look, or your own experience or anything helpful?

Any resources would be appreciated.
Thank you

Question for European therapists: Where do you currently find group supervision that counts toward your training requirements?

I’m piecing together how practitioners navigate this and everything I’m finding is fragmented/expensive/US-focused. What am I missing?

How many of you are tired of using multiple platforms just to sustain your practice or simply network?

I’m honestly so tired of reaching people out on so many different places and keeping track of everything!
I have been trying to grow my network and connect with like-minded individuals on so many places, it’s exhausting and frustrating when you add on the pre-existing isolation and burnout that comes with the job. Anyone else feel the same?

Genuinely interested in knowing what has been working for all of you, and if you also feel this frustration and exhaustion of constantly trying to connect without avail.

Fellow therapists—how are you managing peer support and networking?

I'm a integrative therapist in Dublin running a small online practice, and I'm trying to map out how we're all staying connected professionally these days.

It seems like most of us are cobbling together:

  • Peer circles (LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Zoom)
  • Professional groups (Facebook, forums)
  • Directories (Psychology Today, It's Complicated)
  • Supervision (in-person or platforms like Motivo)
  • Networking (conferences, local meetups)

My questions for this community:

  1. How many different platforms/groups are you currently using to stay connected with other therapists?
  2. What's working well about your current setup?
  3. What's frustrating or time-consuming about it?
  4. If you run a peer circle or group, what's the hardest part? (Scheduling, keeping people engaged, managing different time zones, etc.)

I have an idea but I don't know how to take it forward.

Hey everyone, I am a mental health professional and I have been thinking about creating a startup from the past one year and I was already working on something. Now I have a solid plan and prototype and I want to share it with my potential customers who are mental health practitioners.
I am looking for co-founders and engineers along with investors, because I will need funding to build this.

I do not have a business background so I am extremely lost as to what my next step should be. Any help?

What are some creative ways you have used to filled your caseloads in the past/ when you were starting out?

Hey everyone, I am building an intensive cohort and trying to talk to as many therapists as possible about certain topics including visibility and building your caseloads.
I am looking for non-cliche answers. Not just build a referral network, register on therapist directory or social media marketing etc. I am looking for some creative ways that can actually deliver tangible results.

For example, in my early days, I got most of my clients from a book club I used to frequent in Berlin!

What’s the weirdest way you’ve tried to explain burnout to non-therapist friends who think you just ‘listen to people talk’?

I recently had a long time friend just tell me that they wanted my job because I only sit and talk to people!
I was so ridiculously dumbfounded that I just tapped out of the conversation!
Do any of you get this question often? How do you deal with it?

I have switched my career and now I’m back to being a therapist after a corporate detour. Last year I started a peer support circle with a couple of uni friends and it helped me so much in my clinical work with clients that I decided to actually build it further.

I started my journey by talking to more and more therapists and launched a pilot circle on 28th march. I had 6 people attend the event. The next circle was not much of a success because only 2 people showed up. I had to cancel the one after that and then I personally reached out to everyone in WhatsApp community to ask why they weren’t engaging or showing up. Most of them said it was a timing issue. So I reworked the cadence and the format and everything based on feedback. The next circle after that was great, had 7 people show up! Also important to mention that the peer circles are run for free.

In that circle a lot of people said they would like to have a specific topic related circle on Eating Disorders and OCD. So I found an expert and communicated with the members in the group that this would be a paid session. 6 people agreed for it, we fixed a date and I confirmed with the expert as well.

I put the registration form link in the group and informed people to pay and register. None of them did! The event is scheduled for 20th May so there is still time I know. But the no engagement is soo frustrating and so demoralising.

I have done everything I could think of! But I don’t understand why things won’t move or why I won’t get engagement and responses and actions from the members in the community.

Should I improve the communication or give it some more time? I’m truly lost! What would help in getting people to engage more and be more active?

Any help and advice is appreciated!
Thank you!
