Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition crashes to desktop when starting a new game

I have just purchased Fallout 3 on my laptop after having enjoyed Fallout New Vegas, and being surprised it would run on my low end HP laptop. I purchased Fallout 3 about an hour ago as I have beaten New Vegas multiple times now.

When I click “New”, it loads for about a second, freezes, and then crashes to desktop. It’s done this each time I tried. I know Fallout 3 used to not be able to run on anything past Windows 7, but I had thought they had patched that issue.

Does Fallout 3 require higher specs than New Vegas to run on PC? I’ve read there are mods out there to make it playable, but I would also like to be able to get Steam achievements so mods would be a no go for me.

Should I just refund it and buy it again later when I upgrade from my laptop to an actual PC? Again, I had no issues running New Vegas, but perhaps Fallout 3 is more resource intensive.

Where to even begin?

Prepare yourself for a wall of text, ADHD riddled post of dumb and vague questions.

I’ve had this 2001 Tomos Targa LX for probably 4+ years now, and I never really touched it besides adjusting the throttle and using some zip ties to hold wires and cables in place.

Fast forward to now, and having been prescribed 40mg of Vyvanse, I suddenly have a renewed desire to actually do some work on it. I however have no idea where to even start.

My current goal is: get it to reliably shift into 2nd, have a headlight and taillight, a speedometer, and maybe a slight boost in power.

One of the issues I am having is finding parts. I know Treatland.tv is a wonderful place, but where I’m in Canada and currently unemployed due to funding cuts, I’m not really in a place where I can afford to pay $300 for free shipping. I’m curious if there are any good Canadian companies, or if the good folks at treatland are all there really is for decent moped sales and services.

Lastly, and least importantly, would it be a sin to repaint this? Someone has obviously touched it up in MANY spots, but the bright yellow was the original colour, and I’ve seen at least two different people on Moped Army say the yellow is a “rare” colour, so I don’t want to ruffle any feathers “butchering” it if that’s a thing. I like the black and gold of the Golden Bullets, they look less obnoxious than the yellow lol

My (small) sxs double barrel shotgun collection

From top to bottom:

Fox Model B
Baikal IJ-58M
Baikal IJ26E

Not a big collection of double barrels, but it’s not all I collect. I’ve had the Fox since I was a kid, and the two Baikals I bought almost two years ago with a few months in between them.

I’ve gotta say, I find I like the Baikals way more than the Fox as weird as that is to say. The 58M is my go to grouse gun, I’m a short broad shouldered guy and the LOP is absolutely perfect for me, barely kicks at all with the buttpad, and the sling swivels make it easy to lug around in young softwood.

Dumb discussion about Marked Men behaviour

So with the Marked Men, the storms of the Divide skin them alive, and the intense radiation of the area is what keeps them from dying due to having no skin.

Why then would they not just stay inside/sheltered away from the storms, and then go outside when supplies run low while fully covering themselves (unlike how they expose a lot of their skin with the armor they currently wear) to get food/water?

With regular Mojave NCR troops, a lot of their armors cover them nearly fully head to toe. While the gear they wear would obviously get worn down fast, we do see that they repair it with scrap metal and road signs.

I do understand that they need to be near high levels of radiation to survive, but I’m sure there are plenty places to shelter in that are highly radioactive. If not, why couldn’t they just drag radioactive barrels/waste inside with them?

I am also aware that they are crazy and essentially borderline feral due to the extreme pain, so maybe this could be an explanation. Still, they seem intelligent enough that I think they could think about this sort of thing.

What are your guys thoughts? Am I overthinking this? Is what I’m saying making sense? Is it just a gameplay thing to have human enemies and I’m being too “real life” and not “video game” enough?

Good day everyone. I have a sporterized Lee Enfield No.4 Mk.1 that my friend sold me for $50 2 years ago. It was in rough shape and I took it apart as much as I could to clean the rust and old dried grease off of it, but I only got as far as you can before you need to remove the buttstock.

I tried PB blaster, acetone and ATF mix, heat, and brute force. I could not get it to budge no matter what. I even had my 76 year old uncle who has hands the size and texture of an old baseball glove (he has been a working man his entire life) try to force it with a screwdriver, and the screwdriver disintegrated in his hands.

I think that the odds of me unscrewing this in the way it was intended are likely not going to happen. Does anyone have ANY sort of advice for how I could the bolt out without just cutting it off? I know it’s a sporter but I would like to try to keep as many original parts as possible on it.

I do intend to do a “home restoration” of it to try to bring it back as close as I can to military spec, or at least LOOK like military spec.

I know you guys hate “restorations” of military guns but it was sporterized ages ago and has unfortunately had all of the markings filed off besides the serial number and model. It will be more of a woodworking and rust blueing project for me, so that I can hopefully make my cruddy looking rifle into something that almost looks right.

If this doesn’t violently offend anyone I can provide pictures to show what I’m working with lol

I’m looking to get into some light trail biking in order to lose some weight, and do so while being outside as I do not enjoy working out in indoor gyms.

I am completely new to pretty much anything bicycle related besides 70s mopeds and motorcycles. My relationships with bicycles specifically has been the generic Canadian tire bikes when I was a kid.

I’m looking for a bike on the cheaper end that would be suitable for a very short person. I’m barely 5’2”, and I’m used to riding on two wheels with a low centre of gravity, so ideally I’m trying to find something:

Under $500 CAD

Off-road capable enough for dirt and logging roads,

Something with a low enough seat for me to be able to flat foot the bike while sitting on the seat

Hopefully I’m not being delusional with my budget and desire for low centre of gravity. I’ve always rode smaller motorcycles and feel skittish on anything I can’t put both feet down on while riding.

When I load up the game on my PC, I create a new character. For some reason, the game is slightly zoomed in, I can’t interact with things, and I can only walk slowly. I read I needed to reset my computer and create a new save, but this did not work. I have no mods at all. Anyone have suggestions on what I need to do?

I’ve been trying to play a min/maxxed character for a while now, and have been trying to get as far as possible while being in all of the factions good graces.

In doing so, I have been using Ratslayer or the Abilene Kid LE BB Gun to preform sneak kills so as to not gain infamy with certain factions. I have come to a point where even with a sneak attack critical I can’t kill certain NPCs with either weapon.

I was just wanting to know if Christine’s rifle was the best fully silent ranged weapon in terms of damage? I do not use the suppressed AMR as it is not fully silent, but “quiet”, and still will cause infamy if I use it to sneak kill.
