So I was faltering around online this afternoon and put in a bid on this first edition (SOLE of 1522) Laura sculpt. And now it's on its way to me!

I was not even really shopping for a new doll per se, but have always wanted a "Laura" despite how much she is copied, knockedoff, and siliconized. I keep thinking I should have thought out this purchase. Yet, here we are, so I would love to hear about your impulse reborn buy.

TLDR: What reborn did you buy on impulse? Do you still have it? How did it turn out? So thankful, I suspect that people in this group might understand!

Today was a bro day. I realized that I could tell what doll I was holding by their weight and that some are just easier to hold. Hands down my Otto is the best traditional hugger! This is probably a naive observation. I know the weight and limb shape make a difference, which I'm only learning to appreciate. Some dolls are smaller and I find that they need a bit more protection and hold and others just cling to you like Otto. I love this variety because it makes a good case for having more than 1 doll!

This little Yuna is on her way to Oregon from Finland. One of the new things I've started to appreciate about reborns is that it is a global network. Unlike just buying something out of a box from somewhere unknown in China, most reborn dolls come from an artist or specific place in the world. I never would have imagined to be expecting a doll made for me from Scandinavia, but she's on her way. Realizing that place and community is a lovely part of this community, I want to name her something Finnish. The artist, Paula Kantis, was kind enough to offer me two perfect options:

"Hilla would be a lovely name for her. It is the Finnish word for cloudberry, a precious Finnish berry that is picked from the marshes at this time of year. So this little girl was born during cloudberry season! 😍

Another beautiful option is Aino, a very old and traditional Finnish name. It would make me so happy if you liked either of these names—and I hope they would not be too difficult to pronounce where you live. ❤️"

Hilla or AIno? I'm 99.99% sure one of these will be her name, but wanted to see what you think?

Also, if you have an international baby with a name to recognize that, please share! I love that this art is all over the world and connects us to that.

I usually don’t memorialize victims of the chew force of my doxie but this little guy seemed worthy of a note.

Sadly it is more about saving him from himself and eating plastics.

What's your favorite reborn baby animal to count? My Otto needs a special one for just him.

Forgot to post this one earlier. The Otto bear said the coat was much too warm for August; the Milan bear said the coat was much too heavy, but the Alessandro bear said it was just right (for Winter)! Happy Summer, all the cuddle bears out there!

I received a City of Portland, Oregon, letter requesting my 2025 Art Tax payment. This is the first year, I missed the payment. When I went online to pay my account, I felt a little upset about the penalty. In the box, "How much do you want to pay?" I put in $35 instead of the $50 full amount with the penalty.

What happens next? Will I be subject to a penalty on the penalty amount due? When does it end?

The letter did say that after 6 months after the original date (Typically OCT 16) an additional $20 will be assessed. Will they still assess me if I only owe the penalty? Basically, after 6 months, you have to pay double the original amount. This makes me sad and not very artful. Guess I will fork out the $15, but for some reason it seemed unfair. Has anyone else tried to just submit the $35? Am I asking for trouble with the tax man?

No matter what, I never seem to be able to get him to smile! ;) StilI, I love trying to turn his frown upside down! This guy has had a good life so far. He came from the Olga Auer sculpt by way of Helena Zwolfer/Tiny Gifts Nursery. I want to take him to a pizzeria or even just an Italian gas station!

Was surprised that mohair also goes a little fuzzy wuzzy in warmer weather! Little guy is chilling out.

What doll is on your most wanted list?

This is my latest wee fella! I was not sure what to think of him at first, but now I can't believe how wonderful he is. Everything about him! His little legs and his attitude! He was painted by Dana Qualls of Retro Baby.

This little one arrived today! I wanted a Nikki Johnston doll so badly but Pickle never worked out for me so I found this little gem from the incredible Lizbeth Devlin. I can see why she offers courses on rooting.

This cute little dog 🐕 came with Milan but I don’t usually think of the clothing/accessories as personal property for just one doll as much as I do for people. Or do I? I don’t know!?! Scroll through to see where the dog ended up.
