What's a worthy upgrade to Keychron K14?

What's a worthy upgrade to Keychron K14?

Been using Keychron K14 (K14, 72 Keys, Brown switches) for 4 years now and its gotten pretty banged up now. What would you upgrade to, if coming from this? Bonus if it's on sale right now (looking at you, Amazon/Flipkart).

Budget is around 10k (incidentally I got this one on sale from Lazada, while in Singapore, for 77 SGD in total with the wooden palm rest, in 2022).

macOS Storage says 254 GB available, but APFS/df says only 56 GB free. Which one is actually correct?

I'm trying to understand how macOS is calculating storage because the numbers don't seem to agree.

This is on a macbook pro m4 pro with macOS Tahoe

System Settings → Storage shows:

Available: 254.44 GB

However every filesystem-level tool says I only have about 56-60 GB free.

Output from `df -h`:

Filesystem        Size    Used   Avail

/dev/disk3s5     460Gi   383Gi    56Gi   /System/Volumes/Data

APFS reports:

Capacity In Use By Volumes: 434.5 GB

Capacity Not Allocated:      59.9 GB

`diskutil apfs list`:

Capacity In Use By Volumes: 434482012160 B (434.5 GB)

Capacity Not Allocated:      59902783488 B (59.9 GB)

Disk Utility, OmniDiskSweeper and Mole all agree with ~60 GB free.

The strange part is that after a reboot, Storage briefly showed ~62 GB available (matching df), but later changed back to 254 GB available without me doing anything.

Things I've already checked:

- Docker caches cleaned (~30 GB recovered)

- WhatsApp media cleaned (~6 GB recovered)

- No huge APFS snapshots (only two local TM snapshots)

- `diskutil apfs list` reports 59.9 GB free in the container

- `df -h` consistently reports ~56 GB available

My question is:

What exactly is the "Available" number in System Settings → Storage?

Is it:

- Free + purgeable?

- A known UI bug?

- APFS reclaimable space?

- Something related to iCloud/Optimize Storage?

I'm less interested in freeing space now and more interested in understanding why Apple's Storage UI differs by almost 200 GB from APFS and `df`.

Got a b1/b2 visa slot for New Delhi (India) for Jan/Feb 27

Got this done today a few minutes ago. Here's how it all happened.

  1. Logged in at 6:58, waited till i saw 6:59:59 to select New Delhi and it took 60s for the calendar view to arrive.
  2. Moved forward to see 3 slots available for OFC in Jan 2027, selected with fingers crossed. I picked the latest one (my internal logic is people pick the first, i go after the latest one I can see).
  3. The page reloaded in another 40s to show Consular slots.
  4. Moved quickly to selecting New Delhi and then it took another 30s to show 2 dates for Feb 2027, again, selected the furthest one and it confirmed in 7s.

It took me a week to get this. Jan 2027 is not ideal but at least now I have a baseline booking. Sharing this in case it helps anyone.

XS20 + XF 70-300mm | Owls of Kanha National Park

Was a fun trip. Took nearly 800 shots in the 5 hour long safari through the Mukki zone in Kanha. This was my first wildlife attempt and needless to say I goofed up pretty bad but still walked away with some memorable shots. Battery stood its test and the heating was under control.

OFC booked but then rate limited on Consular slot

Booking from India/New Delhi. Saw Jan 2027 slots, don't even remember which date I picked for my son's OFC, but then for the consular one, as soon as I selected New Delhi, it rate limited me.

Did nothing wrong. Just logged in, saw the slot for Jan 2027, booked the OFC and was feeling so lucky until that point.. now eating humble pie (head, meet desk)

Is the OFC booked or is that even out of the window now? I ask cause when I logged in after 20 mins, its straightaway taking me to the Consular visit (with of course. the No slots message).
