Help me find new bands I kike - allman brothers fan here

Love the Allman brothers and recently digging Gov'T Mule. I also like classic stuff like Cream, CCR etc etc

I have a long trip coming up soon and trying to expand my playlist.

Please recommend bands - especially contemporary - with a similar feel. But if you want to recommend classics feel free

How do people feel about 'Winter tide' (R. Emyris) and what are the best novels/novella that develop lovercraftian themes and plots

I am looking into a specific strand of the literature that picks up plots and themes developed by Lovercraft to push them further. 'Winter tide' seems very intriguing and I wonder if any of you thought it was a good work. Also, if you have any recommendations for books that try to do something similar please send them my way.

Need a book recommendation for a trip -- something with the same feel of the books I have recently enjoyed

Hi there,

I am in that weird phase where I pick up stuff and then leave it because it doesn't grip me. Some books that I have absolutely loved lately are The Fisherman, American Elsewhere and The Croning. I am off for a couple of weeks and need to take with me something similar(ish) to those that can I enjoy in the evenings. Hit me with your best recommendations (probably 200-300 pages would work better) !

Thanks

London trip - buying a Les Paul

It has been a while since I checked London's shops, and even longer since I went Les Paul haunting. What's the place where I can try a number of guitars and has the Les Paul I like 😉 ? I am told the garage is the place to be - can you haggle a bit?
Anything to be aware of?

Looking to buy a Gibson Les Paul - are the recent ones really that good?

Hi folks,

I used to play a lovely 90s LP quite a few years ago, and then for various reasons I let it go - and didn't play for a while.

Now I want to get myself another LP. Loved the ones made in the 90s, but it seems that there aren't a lot to choose from today, and I definitely want to try a guitar before buying it. I am considering checking the big shops in London (will ask about shops separately at some point), but I wanted to ask whether the LPs made after 2019 are really as good as people say. In that case, I might be persuaded to buy a recent instrument.

Zoom or Skype blues lessons - looking for teacher recommendations

Hi there,

I warmed up to the idea of online lessons (ideally in my timezone UK/European). I am only interested in one to one, so please don't recommend channels or programmes.

I am looking for a teacher specialising in the blues, and not a generalist with some knowledge of the genre. I would be super grateful if you could recommend teachers - maybe your own or maybe someone who has an outstanding reputation?

Thanks a lot for the help

Looking for zoom blues lessons

Hello,

Looking for one to one lessons exclusively. The genre is blues and I'd be keen to find a specialist.

Feel free to hit me with the best recommendations for teachers (UK/European time zone)

Best

Finishing a roasted maple neck - to tru oil or not to try oil?

Hiya,

I have a lovely roasted maple neck with maple fretboard for my project telecaster.

Now, I received conflicting advice : some saying it should be left alone, some that tru oil would make the neck more durable, some saying that I should not put teu oil on the freta

I am looking for sound advice by people with an expertise in the craft. I know that roasted maple can be left untreated but I want to enhance its durability.

Thanks in advance!

Wax recommendations for a body finished with tru oil

Hi there,

I am finishing a cherry body with 8 coats of tru oil. Ideally, I want to get some nice sheen at the end. Any specific brand of wax you'd recommend or any technique I should be mindful of?

Thanks for your help!
