It's been rough, but i was able to manage things, i believe in God so i have been counting blessings and also some quick luck.

3 weeks After i started living in my car, the clutch went out. But within those 3 weeks i took a second job which is a nightshift, so the original plan was to use the money from nightshift to use for regular stuff and then the main job to use for savings.

But the car broke, and the good thing is that the clutch failed at my job's parking lot and i have a windshield permit so that it wouldn't raise suspicion. I started getting quotes from local mechanics that repair manuals, best i got was for $1300 without the towing, which as i was starting from $0 was to high for me.

Now, i stil was able to save $1600 but i felt like it would be too big if a gamble because the engine light came on and was afraid something else could make it unusable for work and sleeping.

So i kept it in the parking lot, started sleeping on it but it became too stressful, its a hospital parking lot so i didn't wanna get caught. I kept using the gym for workout and wellness, i also got a student badge to do physician observation or shadowing, since the goal is to spend the hours for medical school.

But i found out, that my student ID card got me access to anywhere a Doctor can, so i found they have sleep rooms at the hospital, tried and it worked. So i started using it for sleeping but kept it low-key, never used it more than once in a row, and every time im not working i wore standard scrubs from the machine and used the medical library to spend the day but used it for study and also was able to launch a startup.

Spend my days there some nights in the car and in the hospital sleep room. But it was getting a toll on me, but still kept my mind distracted with the start up, and to balance my mental health i spent some weekends at hotels to have proper sleep and not feel trapped, then back at it again. So used uber for the other job, it was part time but it paid for food and uber it self. So i was able go save enough and decided yo get an apartment semi-furnished.

I feel like I have a huge weight off my shoulders, it feels so good to sleep in a room, and right on time because the weather is cold, to have a place to take showers and use the bathroom, any time.

But I can't never see it as i used to before, it feels weird, it still doesn't feel like im good yet, im still trying to get used to it. But no more stress . I ain't done yet, im still trying to keep on track with the original goals, just now its a different way. So just gotta keep going

29M, Time to improvise, adapt and overcome.

Going thru a lot at the moment, i just started living in my car because of a bad relationship which I'm finally glad it's over but it left my life shattered and financially down, I wasn't able to pay rent, after the notice to quit i had to leave.

So now this is my setup and will make it better as i go. The plan is to live in the car for a minimum of 6 months, work overtime and save aggressively. More than $15k is my goal. While also finishing my pre-med degree and starting life again fresh.

I have learned a lot of lessons and I'm glad it all happened at 29 years old so at least I'm able to start again. Its lot to take in emotionally but i will use work and study to shift my mind away.

I just wanted to vent and share my situation, good to be part of this group and see other people's experiences

Newly homeless but so relieved to have my car

Newly homeless due to a bad ending relationship which ruined me financially not able to afford rent so im leaving as i got notice to quit the house within 30 days, left yesterday. My plan is live in the car ( 2010 Hyundai elantra 5 speed manual) for 6 months work overtime and save aggressively to start life again specially since im a student, its going to be rough, but good thing my car can fold the seats so i did and made a matress that can extend through the trunk.

Will be using the iOverlander app for parking, my job's Gym membership for hygiene, (a Hospital) also trying to plan how to use their parking to sleep too, from there i will be getting more organized, getting more tools and stuff that will help me along the way. Now the constant trick is staying stealth and avoid being noticeable.

About to be Homeless M29

Im a Pre-med student. So early February i moved to another town 3 hours from my moms house which is where i used to live, but the moving reason was very silly since it was because of girl i met and 3 months into dating i thought it was finally what i was looking for, without realizing i wasn't even doing better for myself (as a new immigrant in the US). So i didnt have a car yet i used apps to rent and see her and thought since she would be the one i could move here, get a better job and a car.

When i first moved i got borrowed 4k from someone to get a car, which i got but had to pay back in June 28th.

1 month into moving closer to her house (myex) 10 min driving distance i started realizing it was all fake, she never really wanted anything serious, just the attention but only when she wanted, i couldn't go to her place to see her anytime, she wanted to be scheduled, she wasn't available for me but i was always available for her, i reallized only when i started feeling the pain, i spent 3 days not texting her first, on the 3rd day, she came to my place at 11pm for the first time, i usually was the one who go to pick her up then drop her back, even though she has a car. So when she came it was to complain, i said i cant do this because it just stressing me out, taking my energy away from my studies, feeling pain etc, long story short, we ended it right there, i felt good.

But then now i had to deal with the loan, since it was not a formality they pressed and gave me the june 28 as last date to pay it back or else they would get authorities to it (first time taking a loan) .

So ok i spent the last 2 months working at this new low paying job to save it and managed to save the $4.5k to pay back, but to be able to do that i had to skip the rent thinking i would be able to catch up, now with the loan paid which was a huge relief, but i was stopped by police saying that my plate had a alert on it from DMV because my issurance told them its not active which was really confusing, so the cop took my plate and towed my car, but at least the tow company agreed to tow it to my place that way i dont pay other fees, so now i was not able to drive the car because DMV says i have to pay penalty $500 plus $119 fee to be able to get another registration and plate, so since then i been using uber to go to work..

now i have to deal with the house, i explained and told them to give me a month to bring the balance back to zero, but they gave me a notice to quit within 30 days, now i could easly bring back the balance $2035 to zero if i do overtime in 2 weeks but the uber rides would take up the difference, so my only safety rightnow or option is to pay the DMV de fees when i get paid next week, to be able to drive the car, but im not sure i will be able to make it by 7th of Agust to get the full amount doing overtime but at least i will have the car and will use it as a place to sleep, im still hopeful i might make it and im gonna be working super extra to see if i can make it because i dont wanna lose the place.

I learned all the lessons and realized all i have at the moment, now my focus is not being loved, but to achieve my goal of becoming a Physician first, i will also focus on saving as much as i can, invest, build a portfulio and have emergency fund so that nothing like this ever happens again.
