Apple Search Ads: 0 impressions / 0 spend — what am I doing wrong?

Hey everyone,

I recently started running Apple Search Ads for my app using the bidding / Max CPT option, but I'm getting absolutely no results so far.

As you can see in the screenshot:

  • Campaign status: Running
  • Search Match: On
  • Max CPT Bid: $2.00
  • Spend: $0.00
  • Impressions: 0

I’m trying to understand how to properly set up and optimize Apple Search Ads, especially the bidding strategy.

For those of you who have experience with Apple Search Ads:

  • What’s the best way to structure a campaign for a new app?
  • How should I decide my initial Max CPT bid?
  • Is $2 too high or too low depending on the keywords?
  • How long should I wait before making changes?
  • Are there any important settings I might be missing that could cause 0 impressions and $0 spend?

I’d really appreciate any advice or examples of how you usually set up Apple Search Ads when starting from zero.

Thanks!

2 weeks after launch and I’m still struggling to get real users — what am I doing wrong?

I launched my app BiteCalz: Food Scanner AI about 2 weeks ago, and honestly, the results have been pretty discouraging.

I’ve already improved the App Store screenshots/banners after getting some feedback, but I’m still not seeing meaningful user traction.

Here’s where things currently stand:

  • 2 weeks since launch
  • 263 impressions
  • 84 product page views
  • 14 first-time downloads
  • 4 redownloads
  • 0 meaningful/consistent user activity
  • Impressions have now basically stopped growing

The frustrating part is that I don’t really know what I’m doing wrong.

Is the problem:

  • App Store discoverability?
  • The app positioning?
  • The screenshots?
  • The app icon?
  • The product itself?
  • Or do I simply need to start driving traffic from outside the App Store?

I’m a solo developer, so I’m trying to figure this out without a marketing team or a big budget.

I’d genuinely appreciate some honest feedback from other indie developers. If you were in my position, what would you focus on first?

I’ve attached my current App Store analytics screenshot for context.

Just redesigned my App Store screenshots — would love some honest feedback

Hey everyone!

I just redesigned the App Store screenshots for my app, BiteCalz, and I’d really appreciate some honest feedback before I finalize them.

I’m mainly trying to improve:

  • How clear the value proposition is
  • Whether the screenshots are easy to understand at a quick glance
  • The overall design and visual consistency
  • Whether the screenshot order makes sense

Do these screenshots make you understand what the app does and why you’d want to use it?

Any suggestions or criticism are welcome — especially anything that feels confusing, unnecessary, or could be improved.

Thanks! 🙏
