San Gorgonio Peak sign replaced

San Gorgonio Peak sign replaced

I hiked Mt San Gorgonio yesterday and replaced the reported missing peak sign with an aluminum one. There was a small wood sign someone must have just brought up but since it is painted only it and not engraved it will probably only last a season.

Hopefully these signs get to stay up there for others to enjoy (the small wood one is perfect for selfies and my larger metal is great for group) without some random person taking them home SMH. Weather was fantastic backpacked to dry lake and day hike to the summit and back. Wind was pretty wild Saturday night at dry lake!

Reminder to watch you step when walking

Keep your eyes peeled while walking I was taking my evening stroll and nearly stepped on this juvenile southern pacific rattlesnake while crossing Park Dr near Agua Hedionda Lagoon across from the park and Kelly Elementary. When I returned it had moved on into the preserve and off the street.

Replaced El Cajon Mountain Summit Sign

I hiked El Cajon Mountain last month and the family at the top remarked that the sign was gone. Apparently it grew legs and walked down the mountain SMH. I made a new sign at work out of 5/8” Aluminum and hiked it up there today.

It weighs about 10 pounds so hopefully it’s heavy and big enough that it stays at the peak for a while. If there’s other peaks in SD county missing their signs let me know and I look into hiking up a new one.

For context I raised him for 12yrs of his 14 yrs and his bio dad has seen him 2X in those 12 yrs. During the divorce the ex kept me at a distance (I filed) and was no contact for 9 months which hurt A LOT. Now that everything is finalized she has realized that having me still in his life is a positive thing and actually asks my opinion on him more than when we were married. I see him 1-2 times a month with at least one of those being a weekend away and get to talk on the phone with him several times a week.

I’m starting to date again and normally bring up being divorced and still in my stepsons life on the first or second date. Anyone else have similar experiences? Not my bio kid but no longer legally a step kid?
