New skis this year

I’m going to be in the market for a new ski setup this season. I’m curious as to your experience with the best time to buy.

Buy now in the preseason?

Wait until January and see what deals are available?

If it matters it’s unlikely for me to have skiable snow in December where I live in northwest Pennsylvania.

Birthdays

Any other Virgos just have bad birthdays? Maybe it’s not even a Virgo thing but man I cannot have a good birthday.

Turned 49 yesterday. I could count on 1 hand the number of times I’ve had an enjoyable birthday as an adult. My wife knows this and bless her heart for doing the best she could for me yesterday. It was a busy weekend doing for others. I knew it would be busy and I did my best to offload some stuff. Then my father insults me and every job I’ve ever had while we’re supposed to be visiting for my birthday. Thing is I’m doing great. Career is great. Family is great. House and property. The whole 9 yards, but “maybe I should try a real job”.

Anyway happy birthday Virgos. I hope you all have great birthdays.

NCT to Tracy Ridge on Aug 6-7

Hiked from the NCT trailhead on Rt 321 up to the Tracy Ridge trail. Spent the night in the trail shelter about 1/2 mi from the intersection. Hiked Tracy Ridge to Nelse Ridge and back out to the trailhead. Trails were in generally good shape. Visited Handsome Lake Campground while passing by. Campground was in great shape. The areas we saw that were burned a couple years back looked amazing with some charred trees still visible here and there. Covered about 16 miles in 24 hours and had a great time with my son. I highly recommend a stop in the trail shelter off the NCT if you’re passing through.

Does this rock contain multiple fossils?

Spent a couple days backpacking near the Kinzua Reservoir in the Allegheny National Forest. I found this rock along the shoreline and it looked like it contained several fossils so I brought it home. My son gave me a pretty harsh side eye for putting a rock in my pack when we’re trying out ultralight backpacking, LOL

What is this rock? Pics are the same rock just flipped over.

Ferment Experiences

From the posts it seems like many of us have experience fermenting all sorts of things. Vegetables; Wine; Beer; Bread. Of all your experiences which would you highly recommend, which would you not bother with again?

Me:
Beer is fun but probably won’t get back into.
Salsas and hot sauces surpass store bought so easily I can do those forever.

Tracy Ridge Trail System

Planning an overnight hike in and camp on the Tracy Ridge system in August and I’m looking for some recent intel. Planning on starting at the parking area on 321 and taking the North Country up to Tracy Run. Then Tracy Ridge to Nelse Ridge and back to parking area on 321.

Specifically: How are the bugs? How is drinking water access if we filter our own? Is it worth bringing a fishing pole for fishing on the reservoir? Any other recommendations specific to this area?

Thanks and happy trails.

Tablet to Injection

The below was posted previously but didn’t get any responses in GLP1 sub. Looking for feedback from anyone who made the switch.

“Been on the Wegovy tablet for 4 months so I’m at the 25mg dose. Down 28 lbs with almost no side effects. I can’t really afford the self pay for the long haul and my insurance will cover the injections. So I’m considering switching to the injections.

Has anyone switched from tablet to injections? Did you go straight to the max dose injection or do you start over at the low dose and ramp up again?”

I baked a pie

So my mom has always made apple pies for my birthday. This past Christmas she had her pie recipe laser engraved on a wooden cutting board. This recipe is actually my maternal grandmother’s crust recipe plus my paternal grandmother’s filling recipe. I didn’t want to jump straight to the apple pie so I made a mixed berry (strawberry, raspberry, blackberry) pie with lattice top for my mom. She was thrilled.

Help troubleshooting

I bought a Hot Spring Limelight in 2024 (2023 model). I noticed water coming from the center of the front panel yesterday. Not a stream but steady enough to keep the cement pad wet. This morning I removed the front panel and found a drip coming from the end of the pipe circled in the pic. I shifted the pipe back through the zip tie into the position you see in the pic. The drip stopped. I ran the pumps for 10 minutes with the panel off and didn’t see a drip from that location again. Has anyone else run into this? What was the solution? Do I call my dealer now or see if the drip returns?
