California Town Proposes Ban on Feeding Feral Cats to Protect Endangered Rabbit

Quote from the article:

"The measure aims to protect the riparian brush rabbit, an endangered species found only along the lower Stanislaus and San Joaquin rivers. The rabbit resembles a desert cottontail but is smaller, with a darker, grassy-brown coat; adults reach 11 to 14 inches long and weigh between 1 and 1.8 pounds."

Southern IL town passes new wild animal ordinance

The feeding of wildlife ( including feral cats) was just banned in a recent ordinance that was passed in Murphysboro IL. By prohibiting feeding of feral cats, this ordinance also technically makes TNR illegal.

Hopefully the birds in the area start to feel less pressure from the invasive cats if the overall domestic cat population size is reduced.
