Thoughts on GingiPro?

New product for feline stomatitis associated with calicivirus. Heard my doctor talking about it in an exam as kind of a one off of “I just heard about this new thing..”

Wondering if anyone has prescribed this yet or seen any patients on it. My own cat has stomatitis related to fcv so I asked if my doctor would like to try it with him as patient 0 and she said yes if we ever order it.

My issue is that right now his only option is another dental that I can’t afford (payment due at time of service for employees too) and hes an old crunchy man that likely wouldn’t tolerate it very well. I guess I should see how bloodwork looks first before deciding that for him but this GingiPro seems like a really good option rn and 2-3x cheaper than the dental

I’m so tired of being bad at my job

I’m 21 weeks today. It’s 5am, I’m huddled by the toilet trying to figure out how to call out again today without upsetting my coworkers. My job sucks for pregnant people (most do) but the hazards are especially fucked up because there’s a lot I just can’t do now, lifting restrictions, drugs with no research on pregnant people, radiation, rabies, anesthesia, no time to pee. I had to tell my job I was pregnant before friends or family because of the risks. I used to do my job, do it well, and take pride in that. I didn’t call out once in the six months I worked before getting pregnant, now I’m out of sick time but I fear I won’t even make it out to my car today without vomiting.

I got a talking to a few weeks ago about my performance taking a hit. I understand why and management was completely valid in doing so. I wasn’t necessarily in trouble but it was more like what happens before you get in trouble, the warning. It was specifically “you’re not able to start or stay on task anymore and it’s affecting others, are you doing okay?” It hit me like a truck though. I had to text my mom about it. I haven’t had an “I need my mom” feeling for a few years but in that moment I needed my mom.

I can’t do anything anymore, between the genuine restrictions and the constant nausea, brain fog, exhaustion and pain I feel so useless. It’s gotten to the point where I’m mad at myself about it and it’s just making it worse. My coworkers are all mad at me and definitely talking shit about it (I would too if I were them) I used to be so good at my job and I set the bar for myself really high. Now I feel like no matter how low the bar is I find a way to limbo under it.

Being short staffed in itself is not that bad. Our baseline is overstaffed to compensate because it’s a field with high rate of mental health problems, so call outs are not uncommon. One call out doesn’t make a skeleton crew but it’s still an inconvenience to everyone especially with frequency. It’s especially difficult to get fired from my job but this pregnancy is the only thing giving me job security. If I wasn’t pregnant and had my work performance, I’d be looking for a new job rn.

I’m just so exhausted and I hate that I can’t do anything anymore. If you’re unemployed, I’m jealous of you.

I bathed my other cat and now she doesn’t recognize him

This is mitten who is hissing and growling at my other cat who is a senior that doesn’t clean himself very well so I do every 1-3 months depending on how stinky he is. I’ve bathed him multiple times while mitten is around but this time she was pissed off about it. At least I know not to bring home anymore cats.

Not a minor, US, vet accessible, tldr is the title, mitten is a year old, Pete (the bath victim) is 14, mitten is an intact female (working on it), Pete is a neutered male, can afford the vet

Birth plan seems bare

FTM here 17 weeks and confused on what I’m missing. Any advice on my birth plan?

Allowed in room:

Any hospital staff (students included)

My partner

Positions

Whatever will get her out the fastest

Treatments for mom

Whatever is medically necessary

Pain management please. All of it.

Treatments for baby

Whatever is medically necessary (vit k included)

Music

The Mulan soundtrack

Disclaimer

If something unexpected comes up and interventions are needed, don’t waste time, just do it. If I’m unable to speak for myself, my partner (name here) has consent to make those decisions for me.

Edit- thank you guys I’ve received some great feedback! I’ll be adding on that I have hEDS so an effort to keep my joints in place would be appreciated and my cord preferences (dad to cut, delayed clamping). I’ve also received some Mulan soundtrack comments, it’s what I listen to when I need to remind myself that I can do hard things which has been especially helpful during pregnancy. I know I’ll be scared shitless (literally) telling myself I can’t do it so the soundtrack is to tell me I can.

How is it really?

Considering a career change to phlebotomy, it’s been my plan B as a vet tech. I’ve always said “if I could place a 22g in a geriatric dehydrated 6lb cat, I could probably do humans too” and finally got the push to consider it for real.

What do I need to know about the career before starting my journey? What situations cause mental fatigue? I have juicy water hoses for veins with transparent skin, what does it look like when you can’t stick someone? Does it ever get frustrating? Any previous vet techs here? How was the transition? Are coworker relationships hard to maintain/is it a toxic industry?

Any tips you have are greatly appreciated!

Nightmares while pregnant

Hey guys what do I need to do to stop having vivid violent dreams? And what does this one mean? I’m 14 weeks pregnant. No history of vivid or violent dreams before pregnancy. Content warning up ahead.

Just woke up from a dream where I was at work (the worst part tbh), I work at a veterinary clinic and in the dream I was looking after a bull terrier in quite a bit of pain (something neurological affecting his neck). I was trying to lay him down comfortably for monitoring while one of my doctors was looking for something to help. We had a traveling specialist doing something in the OR, I’m not sure what she was doing but I remember it was mentioned, she’s our orthopedic surgeon so I assume something along those lines. *CW starts here* I remember “beheading” being said to one of my admins but I was not involved in that case so I minded my business. Then my coworker came out holding just the head of a girl saying “fuck that hurt so bad” over and over. I knew her in the 7th grade, she was one of the specialists technicians in the dream but we were friends long ago, I haven’t thought about her in years. Then another coworker carrying her torso by the neck. I looked away before anyone brought out her legs. *CW ends here* I was holding the bull terrier in my arms at this point because he was getting restless while trying to keep myself from fainting so I didn’t drop the dog. I sat down on the floor and clenched my eyes shut and forced myself to wake up.

Hey what the fuck? That is so sick and twisted, it is 4am and I’m too scared to go back to bed.

Just found out I’m pregnant at 20 years old

I just turned 20. Took a positive test 5 mins ago because my last period was really light spotting, my boobs are sore, and I’m eating a lot more. Gaining some weight too.

I’ve been with my boyfriend for about 2 years. Things are going well. We both agree that we want children at some point but this is too early and I’m scared.

If I get an abortion (accessible), it’s convenience. I’m moving into a new apartment with my sister this weekend, just bought a new car. I don’t know that I can be financially stable enough for a whole baby in 9 months. We can do the bare minimum but doesn’t a child deserve more than that? I’m so young and idk if I can do it. Idk how to raise a baby? I’ve never even babysat. Birth sounds like a horror story every time I hear about it.

Idk what to do. Please help. Still sitting on the toilet sweating and shaking.

ETA: holy shit it’s Mother’s Day and I just found out I’m pregnant. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you (and myself?)

Ahhh also I FaceTimed my sister to tell her immediately but no one else knows. Boyfriend is coming over in an hour or so and I’ll tell him in person
