My career is a circular pipeline to right back where I started.

I (26M) have been in the hospitality industry my whole life. Started at 14 working the front desk for a dry cleaning chain, made my way to a pizza joint, worked my way from dishwasher to delivery driver to prep chef to pizza chef to server to bartender, where I then took my leave to work the oil pipelines in the northern Midwest for the better part of a year. Came back to the dry cleaners, made my way into a nightclub to Barback and bartend, then on to a rather well known restaurant in my current area, where I barnacled, bartended, took a lead bartender role, and then left for another well known restaurant doing what I thought was bar management. Ended up getting abused as essentially a glorified lead bartender and had to fight for a bar management position and more pay before I fully realized ownership just sucks and I needed out.

Conveniently, the restaurant I was at prior gets the ownership share bought out from the group it was under and is now owned and operated by a single chef. The woman I trained to take my position and is a good friend of mine was actually the one to offer me the bar manager position.

I was hired under the impression I would be given a trial period, working the weekend as lead bartender and the other half of the week as bar/floor manager, which started great up until the past few weeks, where I seem to do what is asked of me by chef, and we agree upon something, only for him to make the opposite decision and announce it in an email chain a few days later.

This has made me felt generally underutilized/what am I even here for if you go the opposite direction of what I advise anyways.

Combined with my personality shifting to where I’m enjoying waking up early in the morning and getting on with my day as opposed to my current schedule of mostly starting the day around 2pm and wrapping up at midnight, I’m really having intrusive thoughts about changing careers.

Primary issue is I’d be starting over, again. Plus I don’t necessarily have a bad thing going, I’m just generally unhappy with a job I expected I would love.

Has anyone done this kind of career change before?
Any advice?

Theoretically, I’m making just short of 4k/month hourly now, 40-45 hours a week, and would love to keep that going, just on a more traditional 9-5 or 10-6 schedule.

For a little more context, most of my experience is self taught, I deal with a lot of logistics and number crunching currently, and practically no education. I dropped out of college 3 times in various design fields just because I couldn’t handle the workload in addition to working full time to make a living.

TLDR - stuck in the bar management pipeline, practically no other experience, do I have any options for getting out?

Is it acceptable to get classical art tattooed?

Working on ideas for my second sleeve, and I really love the concept of getting my favorite paintings and art from like museums tattooed in various frames, like a living art museum on my arm. However, I have no idea the etiquette behind this. I’m assuming since most of the artists are long dead, it’s okay? Any advice appreciated.

Muffled sound and low ringing in one ear

UPDATE:
I went back to the clinic two days after the first cleaning, with a different nurse and different doctor.
They did another serious flush, and it cleared right up.
According to the doctor, there was wax “cemented” around my ear drum, turning it from a light gray to almost black.
He said the first time they cleaned it, they could’ve mistaken the wax around my ear drum for where the ear canal usually curves and darkens, and just didn’t bother to check it out further, despite me telling them they didn’t fix it. Can hear almost a little too well now, but at least I can hear lol.

26, 5’10”, 130 lbs

Approximately 5 days ago, (Monday night) I laid down in bed and my left ear became muffled. This has happened once or twice before years ago and I’ve been able to pull on the earlobe and “pop” it back open, not this time.

The next morning, (Tuesday), I tried all sorts of remedies, assuming it was just blocked, hydrogen peroxide, Neil Med ear wax rinse kit, ear wax candle, to no avail.

The day after that, (Wednesday), still not resolved, I had to leave town to work a bartending gig over the weekend a state away. I picked up some ear pain relief, despite there being no pain, still nothing.

Thursday morning, I went to a clinic as soon as they opened to rule out any infection or anything. They looked and saw a bunch of ear wax and dead skin, and gave me a hydrogen peroxide soak and an extensive flush, and both the nurse and the doc looked afterwards and said there’s nothing else left in there, and there is no signs of infection, but still had muffled sound and feeling of fullness. They recommended to get some Debrox and if still not helping, or if it gets worse to come back in.

I then had to go in and work for 13 hours, so really no time to think about it, but I’ve noticed over the course of that day, especially last night and this morning, when it’s quiet or I’m thinking about it, I now have a low volume constant ringing the ear.

I’ve had tinnitus before after loud events and such, but that’s always been a throw on some white noise and go to bed and I’m fine by the morning.

Looking for any advice/recommendations.

I do not have health insurance, and I will not be available to do anything about it until at least tomorrow morning, as I need to work another 13 hours today, (unless of emergency).

Stolen Delivery

Not really sure where else to post this, so starting here.

Couple days ago, I finally order all the tools I need to fix my car online. About $700 worth of stuff, for next day delivery.

I live in an apartment building with a package room. The delivery address has my apartment number and instructions for the package room on it.

Delivery comes, and the driver leaves it on the sidewalk by an unmarked, unused door on the side of the building.

Of course by the time I get to it, it’s gone.

I’ve called Lowe’s 3 times.

The first time they said they’d open a claim and someone would contact me.

Second time they say he opened a claim incorrectly, and they’ll fix it for me.

Third time they say there’s a clause for same day deliveries where the driver is not required or liable to bring a delivery inside, and I need to take it up with the financial company, (I used a Lowe’s credit card).

I’ve filed a police report, not that they can do anything about it, but just to show that I never received the packages, otherwise why would I file a police report?

Anyone had something similar happen? I’m not sure my next action other than calling the bank and trying to get a refund, or just keep bothering them over and over until something gives.

TLDR: delivery driver left hundreds of dollars worth of tools on the sidewalk outside my building, tools were stolen, Lowe’s denies liability, what’s my next step?
