First ever pair of Spezials

I wore Sambas around 7 years ago but they were just too tight in the toes so I never wore them again. I recently found these Spezials that had a knit upper and saw them as the perfect summer shoes. They’re way more roomy in the front even when sizing down half a size.

Mike Breen knew what he was doing when he brought up the Pacers’ stunning comeback in last year’s ECF Game 1

Breen manifested the comeback via reverse uno card announcer’s jinx. I heard Breen talking about Nesmith going bonkers and I thought, Breen’s putting on his fan hat at that moment to spark some hope. And it worked.

What a game. What a comeback. One more tale added to this historic postseason.

Cuffing sleeves that are slightly too long can actually be a good look

There’s this belief that longer sleeves makes it look like you’re wearing hand me downs. Now that fashion has shifted away from the aggressive tailoring of the 2010’s to slightly looser/oversized fits today, we can benefit from it. I used to be absolutely OCD when it came to sleeve lengths and always had them shortened, especially jackets. Off the rack cropped jackets are now more popular than ever but the sleeves are still long. I realized that for jackets and layering pieces (i.e shawl cardigans) that have a collar, cuffing the sleeves doesn’t look out of place. In fact, it seems intentional and complements the collar.

For most of us, cuffing the sleeves once should provide the perfect sleeve length. Items that work for this look include denim, workwear jackets, chore coats, shawl cardigans and turtleneck sweaters.

For example, look at model shots for shawl cardigans. They look slightly off (*they’re 6’3 wearing a M when they shouldn’t be but that’s a topic for another day*). It’s because you notice the thick collar, but everywhere else on the cardigan is thin so it throws off the look. A cuffed sleeve offers balance.

KAT in triple threat at the mid/high post is unguardable

  1. He can pass and is very patient with off-ball movement. He's like a QB waiting for the receivers' route to develop before passing.
  2. If you play up on him, he can take you off the dribble for a pass or bucket.
  3. If you give him space, he'll shoot a three.

Literally pick your poison.

You also can’t double KAT in the mid/high post because he can just see over everyone and it becomes scramble drill so you might not want to put a guard as the double. Put two bigs and the rim is BBQ chicken for the other 4.

The only way to stop KAT right now is KAT himself: via silly reach fouls, illegal screen by sticking hips out, and refball offensive fouls due to his bouldering frame.

You can tell that KAT is having fun and relishing the moment of being the facilitator on offense. His vision on the drive is also better than Brunson’s because he’s still in pass first mode and can spot shooters or cutters.

There’s one thing I noticed about KAT since they started running the offense through him. He doesn’t shoot as much anymore but he is a lot more efficient. You can tell he doesn’t care about the lack of shot attempts because he’s touching the ball 100x more on offense. It’s all about involvement and purpose.

Point-center KAT and off-ball Brunson are two of the many reasons for their success so far. Kudos for those two and the coaching staff for unlocking the offense.

I think I experienced EHS - Exploding Head Syndrome

I woke up suddenly at 4:10 AM this morning by the sound of a loud beep. I thought it came from my gas detector that was installed two months ago as I was unfamiliar with it's danger signal. I know the sounds of my smoke detector and HVAC CO alarm so I immediately checked my gas detector. I didn't notice any lights signaling gas detection and the alarm for danger is two beeps + vocal instructions.

I quickly hopped onto Google and results came up for EHS. Since I needed to wake up 2 hours later, I went back to sleep. I was startled by the sound that woke me up.

At 6:30AM, I woke up again and went to the couch to lay down. I tend to do this for another 15 minutes before changing and heading to my apartment gym. I was just about to fall back asleep again when I heard the beep again. I shot up and checked the gas detector in my living room. No lights again. I determined that it had to be the low battery signal. Or so I thought.

At the gym, I searched up the manual for my gas detector and read that low battery alerts will beep TWICE and vocalize "low battery". That made me realize that it was probably EHS. I'm also terrified of fire/smoke/gas alarm sounds so this was triggering for me. It didn't sound like the low battery chirp from a smoke alarm but an extremely loud 1 second high pitched beep.

Has anyone experienced this? The stories I've read are for other noises but not that of a smoke alarm.

Duramo SL 2

Needed a cheap pair of running shoes for short mileage treadmill runs. Got these for $32! Super comfy with ample toe box room. They look very stylish too! Usually shoes at this price point have horrific colorways that don’t sell well, hence the sale or are heavy and uncomfortable.

We’re close but still so far away. We’re literally only halfway there.

We won 2 series so far. We won 8 games so far. We’re in the Eastern Conference Finals once again and the NBA Finals is around the corner too.

But we have 2 more series to win to claim the chip. We have another 8 more games to win.

We’re only at the halfway mark. It’s seems like we’re right there but really not. And I’m excited for what’s to come.

Knicks should expect to face the Pistons

The players will say they don’t care who they face in the ECF. And they mean it.

Us fans will prefer the Cavs for the “easier” (no such thing) matchup.

But I actually want Detroit and hope they beat the Cavs. If we want to win the chip, and OKC potentially is the team to come out of the West, I want a tough matchup to test the Knicks in the ECF.

We need a true physical test and that team in the East is the Detroit Pistons. The same Pistons that want us as well since went sent them home in round 1 last year. If we are to expect a physical OKC team, why not spar with one in our backyard first?

I tried making matcha with creamer and it was surprisingly good

This might be controversial.

I didn't want to buy more milk when I finished my carton so I used creamer instead.

My normal ratio with milk is: 3g matcha, 30g water, and 80g milk.

To match that ratio, I essentially made usucha milk tea.

Ratio with creamer: 3g matcha, 100g water, 10g creamer (estimated amount as I just pour until the color is nice and green).

Creamer also lasts way longer than milk too.

Shamet should start instead of Deuce

Assuming OG is out for game 4 and he shouldn't even try to play, I think Shamet should draw the start over Deuce. Shamet has a bit more size and has been shooting the ball well. Deuce looks a bit lost with the starters and it seems like he's better off the bench.

On one hand, the Knicks won so Brown won't change the lineup. They won off of late game executions and lineups. On the other hand, Philly got up to a 12 point lead early and Deuce was a -4 overall.

We took care of business

Game 3 was the hardest game to win and the easiest for the Sixers to win.

I compare this game to the Hawks’ needing to win game 4 with a 2-1 lead. They messed up by losing and it was over right then and there. If Philly wanted any chance of staying alive, they needed to win this game and they didn’t.

Our bench has been great. Today was no different. The Sixers not having a bench point until late in the game is so us last year.

3-0 fellas.

We are seeing more Brunson off-ball movements and it needs to stay

It started with KAT initiating the offense and Brunson setting a screen for the OG back door cut. That play was working well and the Knicks spammed it against Atlanta.

Recently in game 2 vs the Sixers, I noticed Brown had Brunson setting off ball screens more but they were away from the action. That was huge because Brunson is usually either a part of the play or standing stationary and no longer a threat.

I realized this was an adjustment after a few times watching Brunson set a screen thinking him or the screener will get the ball and KAT wasn’t even looking their way.

I’ve always felt that Brunson standing still after not getting the ball isn’t really helping and whenever he tries to run back to the ball, he causes so much congestion that he’s pushed back to the half court line. The latter specifically puts them in an even more tough situation.

The Sixers were hunting Brunson on D as part of their game plan since he’s not a good perimeter defender but I thought he contested that last Maxey 3 as well as anyone his size could’ve.

First, he went stride for stride with the fastest guy on the court. He also jumped up perfectly and had his hands up as high to affect the shot. The last thing he did and you could tell he was well aware of it, was that he made sure Maxey wouldn’t land on him to draw the foul. That last part was the most important thing.
