I think it’s Echinacea, but kinda looks like he’s wearing sunglasses with a Mohawk.
Long story short I’ve had a terrible time trying to get snowflake bobwhites in the UK… poor hatch rate, killer cat, and then my one male goes missing a week ago. I had genuinely given up hope of having snowflakes but he turns up today in a neighbours flowerbed dust bathing and crowing away!
Unbelievably happy, I don’t have a female to bond him with rn but he’s not aggressive towards my Coturnix girls 😊
Not sure if anyone would find this helpful, but wanted to post about my experience breeding crickets for tarantulas.
I started keeping tarantulas a couple years ago, quickly got tired of needing to buy crickets each feed as most died within a week. Decided to try breeding with a spare Swell tank I had sitting empty, got bug gel and bug grub, kept removing the dead crickets. They still died after a couple weeks, I was keeping them alive but no eggs.
Almost gave up hope, one feed a while back I’d run out of bug grub and decided to try feeding some shrimp pellets I had to hand. (Shrimp=bug, so why not). The crickets went crazy for the food and I had tiny babies crawling around a few weeks later. Haven’t had to buy crickets in over a year, and I have a constant rotation of sizes to feed to my growing collection of tarantulas.
The crickets have been downgraded to a plastic storage tub with ventilation holes and seem pretty happy. They have water/food dishes, but I don’t clean out the bin. Added some isopods and springtails for cleanup crew. Spider Life Multi-Environment for substrate.
Can anyone help with sexing young bobwhites? Some facial markings growing through but wondering if anyone can confirm my suspicions! 🤞🏻
