Pretty sure I'm not ambidextrous...

Pretty sure I'm not ambidextrous...

I hardly ever write with a pen these days, and my handwriting is appalling either-handed, but other than things like the tails on "g"s it genuinely felt more intuitive to just pick up a pen in my left hand and do mirror-writing than write with my right hand, and both felt equally back-to-front... (I do have a migraine though so that may be partially why...)

I think my 6 year old writes neater than I do right-handed!! My 11 year old is right-handed, but when she sprained her wrist last summer, she discovered that if she tries she has enough fine motor skill control to draw with her left hand (not quite as well as right-handed, but better than a lot of people can with their dominant hand)! I can throw a ball right-handed, and will switch over (my left shoulder is messed up). I tend to catch left-handed or two-handed. I'm left-foot dominant. I bat left-handed. I play tennis left-handed. I knit right-handed I think. I use both hands to make jewellery. I use scissors left-handed... I think I play pool right-handed but it's been a loooooong time...

When I've done those tests I've tended to come out like 95% left-dominant!

The correct way to hang toilet paper...

If you have small kids (or potentially pets) who may spin the toilet roll and unspool ridiculous amounts at a time, if you squeeze the roll a bit so the tube is oval instead of circular, and hang it so the long end is behind, it becomes harder for them to do this. Your usage may drop from three rolls/day to one!

However , if you are an adult and only live with adult humans, this should be unnecessary. Hanging over can be easier to access for people with larger hands than when it's hung under. It's usually therefore deemed correct.

As I live with three children and only one adult man with big hands, however, I went with hanging under.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk 😉

[The UK is currently under extreme weather warning red alert heat advisory conditions. Highs here have reached 35°C (95°F) - and it is horrifically humid as well. It's been at least 30°C (86°F) from about 10 AM to 10 PM I think most of this week - we had some rain Monday evening and it was warm... Toffee is a healthy, energetic, very sweet 2.5 year old cockapoo who looks like a cocker spaniel; she's usually pretty good at switching into sofa cushion/floor rug/lap warmer/foot warmer mode inside but I think she's starting to feel a bit cooped up!!]
