Word count progression in a multi chapter fic (wip)

I’m currently 18/29 chapters into writing my first ever multichapter fic, and i put the word count of each chapter into a spreadsheet. is this… normal? i would expect a bit of natural fluctuation between chapters, but this is ridiculous.

Just to note, chapters 15-16 are a really big, action-filled part of the story, and 18 was a huge one for transitioning into the back half of the fic. I expect the word count from here on out to hover around 4-5k. I don't anticipate any more near-7k chapters.

i have also been learning how I like to write over the course of this fic, and have been honing my descriptive abilities. i’m not happy with my first three chapters especially, and intend to rewrite those once i complete it. so i anticipate each of those to almost double.

College student looking for gas card

  • Current cards: (list cards, limits, opening date)
  • CapitalOne Savor Student Card $300 limit, Opened July 2026
  • FICO Score: 669 (creditwise)
  • Oldest account age: 1 year
  • Chase 5/24 status: 1/24
  • Income: $10k-ish, not consistent through the year
  • Average monthly spend and categories:
  • dining $50-150
  • groceries: $100-200
  • gas: $150-250
  • travel: $50
  • other: entertainment~ $50, retail- $50- 100
  • Open to Business Cards: No
  • What's the purpose of your next card? cashback on gas, maybe retail as well
  • Do you have any cards you've been looking at? Discover It Student
  • Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? I'm okay with category spending.

I'm a 19f college student who is starting nursing school in January. I will be commuting an hour each way 3 days a week, plus clinicals. Currently i have one card that gives me 3% back on dining, groceries, and entertainment, so l'm looking for something for gas, specifically, as it will soon be my largest expense. I also foresee a jump in my retail spending, on scrubs and other clothing especially, so I wouldn't be opposed to something with good cash back on retail either. I've been looking at the Discover It Student card, as the 5% back rotating categories, gas and online shopping especially, would be helpful for me, as well as the signing bonus and double cash back first year.

should i rotate my circular barbell (daith)?

my daith piercing is a little over 6 weeks old. i had it pierced by a professional, with an implant grade titanium circular barbell. it started developing irritation bumps around two weeks ago, and i’m working on healing them—saline spray 1x day (tends to work better than 2x for me), blow drying, rinsing in the shower, not touching or sleeping on it. this morning, though, i noticed that the barbell had moved significantly. should i try and rotate it or leave it be? i’m only worried that there might be a weight imbalance now that could irritate it further.
