Been living out foreign almost two decades. Me (41M), wife (42F) and son (9) are spending an extended trip home this summer. We'll have plenty of trips around the island no doubt but we'd like to a spend a fair amount of time in Waterford. It's our base for the trip. We have a car so no transportation restrictions, besides petrol prices...

I'd love to hear about the hidden gems for day trip ideas. The beaches, hikes, restaurants, pubs (for the rainy days and pubs for the patio days), excursions, museums, attractions, hotels for a night away etc... It's been a couple years since we were last home so I'm trying to put together a tonne of options to properly visit and explore as many nooks and crannies in the county as we can.
