Ich bin sehr dankbar dafür dass die Regierung uns das ermöglicht. Ich finde es sehr toll dass wir den armen Öl-Konzernen etwas unter die Arme greifen können!

Happy with my Core One+ gen 2 upgrade. This is why I buy Prusa!

I got this printer in november 2024, since then I made the upgrade to the Core One+ and now the gen 2. Both very cheap upgrades but booth upgrades added some good quality of life improvements.

This is why I buy Prusa machines. I know I can buy a machine and I will get upgrades in the future and the machine will be supported for multiple years. The easy repairability is very important for future proofing, I remember when I had a Bambu X1C and I had to remove broken filament from the extruder gear, even such an easy task was a pain in the ass on that thing, these maschines were definitely not built to be repairable.

The upgrade to the gen 2 took me around 3-4 hours and was pretty easy as usual, thanks to the excellent manual. Kinda like putting a Lego set together!

PSA: Most aliexpress aramid cases are fake aramid, they are just plastic with a rubberized "aramid" coating.

I bough this case for the Fold 8.

It's not really possible to notice it in a photo, but you can tell really quick in real life that it's just plastic with a fake "aramid" coating. Real aramid is difficult to make and you can tell it's often not perfect, especially on corners. This one feels just like plastic and it has no imperfections like real aramid would have.

DON'T buy the Nillkin case for the Fold 8!

The power button and fingerprint sensor will not work properly because the plastic of the backcase sticks too far out.

I made an 1 star review on the german Amazon store because of it and shortly after it got approved they reuploaded the case and removed all the reviews.

There was just one other 5 star review that was veeery obviously written by ChatGPT.

What a shady company...

FYI: The outer screen of the Fold 8 has exactly the same width as the S25 Ultra

Samsung nailed the aspect ratios of both screens imo, they are PERFECT!

I just tried it compared to the S25 Ultra and it has exactly the same width, it's just shorter. This means it's just as comfortable to type like on my S25 Ultra, but I can also use the whole screen with my thumb now without having to use the One Hand Operations gesture.

I never liked the 21:9 aspect ratio of modern phones, I always thought it's unnecessary long and I would have bought a bezelless 16:9 or 16:10 phone if Samsung ever released one. This has exactly that, but it also has the huge benefit of a very usable 4:3 tablet on the inside.

I switched from the Fold back to the S25 Ultra because I disliked both aspect ratios on the Fold. The outer screen was way too long and thin and the inner screen was awkward because it's almost a square. For me it was only usable for multitasking, because most apps don't scale well for square aspect ratios. You would always get a zoomed in image on most apps and websites and 16:9 videos would be bigger, but you would have to hold half black bars in your hands all the time. 4:3 is actually perfect. Still some small black bars, but more usable for general use in landscape (like browsing) than 16:9 and it will not be as cropped like on the square aspect ratio.

After trying an E-Bike for my commute, I kinda struggle to go back to non electric...

Did anyone here switch from non electric bike to an E-Bike for their commute?

I sold my car 6 years ago and since then I do everything with my bicycles. I have a gravel bike, non suspension MTB, Brompton and so on and I was always happy with them.

Recently I converted my mini cargo bike to an E-Bike with a Tongsheng middrive motor and I had an absolute blast. I tried to commute to work with it and it was just so much easier and enjoyable, even though I was mostly only at the smallest assist level. I even took the long but hilly route home because I didn't care about the hills anymore. After trying to commute with the non electric again, it felt like I was trying to ride against 50km/h headwind in comparison to the joy I had with the e-bike.

My gut says I should convert my commuter bike to electric too, but my head says it's kinda unnecessary and "cheating", because I could do the same commute without electric assist, like I always did before.
