I've been thinking about this for a while, and I'm curious if anyone else feels the same way

I don't mind character comparisons. Comparing different characters can be interesting, and it's completely normal for people to have different favorites or different interpretations

What I don't really enjoy, though, is when those comparisons turn into character wars

Sometimes it feels like discussions stop being about sharing different perspectives and instead become about proving that one character is objectively better while another has to be portrayed as worse. In some cases, it even feels like the only way to defend a favorite character is by constantly criticizing or diminishing another one , Personally, I've never found that very interesting.

I think it's much more enjoyable when people explain what they appreciate about a character instead of focusing on why another character supposedly deserves less appreciation

Different characters can serve different purposes within the same story , They can appeal to different people for different reasons, and I don't think appreciating one character should require dismissing another.

Of course, everyone is free to compare characters if they enjoy doing that. I just personally prefer discussions that focus on sharing different perspectives rather than turning into debates where one character has to "win" and another has to "lose " ,

I'm curious if anyone else feels the same way or has a different perspective on this , I'd genuinely like to hear what others think.
