Since everything is getting expensive should I buy any tech in advance to avoid paying more in future?

question: should I buy something like a good storage device like ssd or a good system like m4 mini (although I'm getting a used one plus more expensive than what it launched for)

my concern is I don't wanna pay extra in coming months or years for things which I can buy today and can use in future.

for context: I'm a software engineer have 1 macbook air M2, office macbook m2 pro, a PC with intel i5 9th gen, gtx1660TI and 12 gb ram with 500gb ssd and 2tb HDD.

(Bench) After receiving a lot of good feedback on my opensource peptide/hgh tracker I've released v1.9 today if you like it please start my github repo to show some love : )

Bench v1.9 is out, open source peptide/HGH/anabolic tracker, no account, no server, zero data leaves your device

Been building this for a few weeks. It's a local-first tracker for peptides, HGH and anabolics. Everything stays on your device, no backend, no account required. Android APK plus installable web app on iPhone too.

Web app: benchpep.vercel.app

Android APK: github.com/ArunNGun/Bench/releases/latest

Source: github.com/ArunNGun/Bench

What it does

Protocols and dose logging with PK curves built from published half-lives. Stock tracking with cost per dose, reconstitution calculator for U-100 and U-40 syringes. Bloodwork charted against your dose history (16 markers). Multiple profiles. Works fully offline.

Library covers testosterone esters, nandrolone, trenbolone, boldenone, Masteron, orals, GH dosed in IU, Semax, Selank, CJC-1295, ipamorelin, BPC-157, TB-500, plus anastrozole, exemestane, tamoxifen, clomiphene, enclomiphene, hCG. Don't see your compound? Add your own.

Interaction checks warn when two oral steroids run together, when an AI is running with nothing that aromatises, or when compounds share the same receptor class. Silent on intentional pairings like CJC+ipamorelin so you're not dismissing alerts on reflex.

What's new in v1.9

  • mg/mcg toggle on dose entry, useful for compounds typically dosed in milligrams
  • Injection site map redrawn, cleaner and more consistent with the rest of the app
  • Vial delete button is now always visible, it was hidden behind hover so it never worked on mobile
  • Manual update check in Settings, tap to pull the latest build without waiting for the passive prompt
  • Print CSS so the lab report actually looks right on paper

Previous release (v1.8) if you missed it

  • Daily check-ins, rate energy, mood, libido, sleep, recovery and appetite each day
  • Lab report PDF import, read on your device, never uploaded, every value shown before anything saves
  • Six ancillaries added: anastrozole, exemestane, tamoxifen, clomiphene, enclomiphene, hCG
  • Recovery timing with published PCT protocols and sources
  • Protocol preview so you can see how levels settle before you start
  • Printable clinic report covering protocols, adherence, bloodwork and outcomes
  • Sleep and resting heart rate from Health Connect

No account. No sync. No backend. Happy to answer questions, still actively building.

I built an open source peptide/HGH tracker because every other one either wants your account or gets the math wrong

Been self-administering peptides for a while and kept running into the same two problems: trackers that want you to create an account (no thanks, this is not data I want on someone's server), or trackers that quietly get the reconstitution arithmetic wrong.

The U-40 vs U-100 thing alone is dangerous. They look the same. The difference is 2.5x. One mistake and you're dosing two and a half times what you intended.

So I built Bench.

What it does:

  • Reconstitution calculator that draws the actual syringe at the actual barrel proportions, makes you pick U-40 or U-100 explicitly, and shows you the cross-scale reading
  • PK curves from published half-lives so you can see a trough before you feel one
  • Blends decomposed per component, not averaged into one meaningless line
  • Stock tracked in mass from sealed to reconstituted to empty, with beyond-use dates and cost per dose
  • 16 blood markers charted against your dose history
  • Interaction checks across everything running at once
  • 43 compounds, every figure cited with its source

The privacy thing is real, not marketing. There is no backend. grep -r "fetch(" src/ returns nothing. Everything stays in your browser. Nobody can read your data, and nobody can recover it if you lose it either, so there's a backup nudge built in.

Runs as a web app for ios, installs as a PWA(also works in ios), ships as an Android APK.

It's now open source. Especially looking for library corrections with citations. A number without a source doesn't go in, and if human PK data doesn't exist for something the app says so and draws no curve rather than making one up.
